Pissed

The ukulele band gave a “spirited” performance and won over the local crowd quite magnificently
I was on the door , selling raffle tickets and window panes and did well at both. Suffice to say I was busy And had to keep sending friends to the bar for a beer….
Over 150 people turned up including lots of old faces

And would you believe it
The lovely Chic Eleanor ( centre)
Turned up

Affable despots Jason and wife claire with Claire’s dad

Gwawr and the lovely Tracy Manchester

Locals from the village  Turpins  et al

An action shot of Velvet Voiced Linda , Village leader Ian and bouncy Bridget

Neighbour Sailor John and  Med…

Hattie and Adam

The object of the night was to publicise the TCA and not to make a profit

But with food sales ( all my chilli sold) raffle tickets and pledges for the window panes as well as the band donating their gig to us for free we made a rather impressive profit

I got home to walked the dogs around 11.30:…..I was pissed and walked  into the garden arch without a clue….big laceration on forehead  lol

A great night ….of a place …we all felt a part of /

  4. Congrats on the successful event, but I have to tell you that when I saw the title "Pissed", I let out a little Oh Oh because, until I saw it was about one too many beers, I thought someone or something had pissed you off. That's because, over here in America, that's what pissed means ... upset, really really angry.

  6. Sounds like a good time - until the garden arch got in your way. Very rude! And no chili to take home. It's so satisfying to bring home empty pans.

  7. Jason normally looks handsome and spry but there he looks rather rough. Is that his pissed face or should we blame the camera? Eleanor looks chic, of course, through any camera - she probably does "tiddly" at most and never "pissed"?

  9. Oy. When I read 'pissed', I thought something had upset you. I read nearly the whole post wondering what on earth would have made you mad about such a lovely evening.

It's straight in my mind now.

    Sorry about the laceration.

    1. In Great Britain "pissed off" means the same as "pissed" in America but you have to have the "off" on the end.

    2. Anonymous7:11 pm

Whereas "pissed" means somewhat drunk, inebriated, affected by over-indulgence in alcoholic beverage (in the UK). Similar confusion and more embarrassment can occur with the word "fanny" but I will avoid getting into that (the issue, not the... oh never mind...),

Bollocks to COVID. Didn’t you recently get another booster? Hopefully that will keep it a mild case. The people I know who have had it recently haven’t had it too badly. I hope that is the same for you.

  38. Dear John (sounds like the start of a breakup letter),
We wrote to you from our home in California a couple of months ago and now we find ourselves as homeowners just down the road in Llanelwy! We were determined to get to one of the events in the village. Damn, missed it. So close and yet so far. No excuses - this one just got away. The next event for sure.
