I think I’ve given my sister Janet a bit of a flavour for London for her Christmas gift to me was a ticket to see the ABBA voyage concert at the old Olympic park in Stratford .
Of course she’s going with me ( that’s the beauty of such gifts ) and in a similar vein I’ve got her a ticket for Les Miserables for her Christmas gift , with the proviso that I go too…..
A great result either way.
The kick off is February
Let’s hope the trains are running
what wonderful gifts you and Janet have given each other! I'll jin your hope the trains will be running, on time, and with no delays.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Fingers crossed….
DeleteTwo great shows. I'll keep my fingers crossed for the trains.
ReplyDeleteThe RNT sounds more hopeful on the news
DeleteI think both choices are great! Also hope travel is back to normal by then. So many plans ruined for people.
ReplyDeleteMarching onwards
DeleteYou pair of gadabouts! Let's hope the railway dispute is sorted by then.🤞xx
ReplyDeleteI asked her about hotels the other day , she looked perplexed
DeleteEver so lucky you! (Trains permitting). I'd give a lot - if I had it - to see both these shows. Even though I saw 'Les Mis' three times on the London stage 30 years back it yet remains the musical that gives me more delectable goosebumps than any other - and I've seen a mighty lot of musicals, including a large number of the 'classics'.
ReplyDeleteAs for 'Voyage', ditto. Only wish I could have been going with the late and even still much-missed Anne Marie of Philly in tow. She would have loved it ever so much - NOT! :-)
Raybeard.....I think our dear friend just stirred with that scare of a comment!!!!
DeleteYes, it's strange and curious why the 'A' word always did trigger her - and likely still does. It's something we never really got to the bottom of.
DeleteRaymondo I, like you saw the original Les mid back in the day and I’m revisiting after 30:years wanting that original sense of awe.
DeleteAs for Anne Marie..I will raise a glass xxx
Yup, that first time for me was probably the most magical theatre experience I've EVER had. I was so overwhelmed by the music, the production and the performances that on the way out (it was a w/e matinee) I stopped by the box office to buy a ticket to see it again, three weeks later. And then I saw it yet again couple of years further on, taking a former female work colleague with me who was likewise transfixed by it.
DeleteI thought the film was good, especially the acting by almost everyone involved (even if Helena B.C. had been miscast). But nothing can substitute for the electric charge that comes through from an authentic, polished live theatre performance - and you know well what I'm talking about. I hope that what you will be seeing confirms it, recreating for you that original quasi-'mystical' experience.
And, as ever, here's to our Warrior Queen of lasting memory.
Will you wear something sparkly x
ReplyDeleteNo
DeleteI loved ABBA Voyage it was a joyful explosion of an experience and it took only a minute to forget they were avatars - I am sure you will love it . Put on your dancing shoes ! Jane
ReplyDeleteThanks for that review, Jane -- that's good to know!
DeleteJane , thank you for that but of positivism ..I can’t wait
DeleteAre you going steve?
DeleteYeah, I might go. I'm curious about it!
DeleteI'm going to my 1st large concert at O2 arena in March, it must be the year of getting out.
ReplyDeleteWho are u seeing ????
DeletePerfect gifts!
ReplyDeleteExciting xx
DeleteIf the trains are mot running, Bluebell may need polishing.
ReplyDeleteShe’s off to Sheffield on Wednesday
DeleteIt's ABBA girl!!!! Trains or no trains, you'll get there come hell or high water!
ReplyDeleteI know you will my darling xx
Delete....and you are not snowed in.
ReplyDeletePat !!!!!
DeleteThe first B is the wrong way round.
ReplyDeleteReally?
DeleteIt's great that you and your sister are enjoying shows in London together!
ReplyDeleteIt’s becoming a habit
DeleteAt least three of us thought of Anne Marie. Sounds like a great couple of shows. I wouldn't drive into London (again - that is a long story) but I wouldn't let the trains stand in my way.
ReplyDeleteWe coped last time and went a day earlier
DeleteYou see I would drive; go a day earlier like you... eat, drink and be merry; see the show; eat drink and be merry (but not so much as I couldn't drive) and then make my VOYAGE home. Bugga the train situation.

How nice to have such fun events to look forward to! Great gift ideas!
ReplyDeleteMy sister has always done good gifts
DeleteI am very intrigued by this ABBA show, as strange as it sounds, but I haven't bought a ticket yet. I should go do it!
ReplyDeleteEveryone I know that have gone steve have been at least sceptical at first but have been won. Over by the concert itself
DeleteWe did the Europe trip 5-6 years ago when we were still in California. Yes, we did the Abba museum. The one comment I have is those folks were sure small...the clothes were tiny. I love their music.
ReplyDeleteA small hologram then lol
DeleteGreat gifts. Enjoying the shows together and then a meal makes a superb gift.
ReplyDeleteAnd the beers!!!!!
DeleteI hope that you have actual seats LOL
ReplyDeleteWhats up with trains?
ReplyDeleteHere in the UK, the trains are disrupted because of workers' strikes. Many days there are no trains at all. Hopefully, agreements on pay and conditions will be sorted soon. x
