The Stalker…Number 3 is terrific…classy looking and could create a theme ….calm meditative No 2 is hip….trendy Out there No 1 is old fashioned blah. Had that poster in the 1970s
Does it say possibly The cat is flat. No , the cat is fat. Interpretation ------ I forgot to read it backwards.... Flat is the cat... Fat is the cat, no. I vote you paint one of your own to inspire yourself from you!!!
Wonderful eclectic selection. #1 has the most variety for design/ decor pick ups. I don't agree that it is boring, it's a delightful jigsaw of color that resolves finally into the figure. You could stare at it daily and find inspiration.
#2 is cool, but a smidge poseur/ hipster chic [yawn]. And pea green. You'd need a fedora, I think.
#3 is very sweet, an easy evocative choice re: Albert, but it's monochrome palette may not work to inspire. [like tan mustard walls, black leather chair, light wood desk, white moldings, neutral distressed aged oriental throw rug in black and tan, a current fad. Boring month 3 or restful and zen? Can't wait to see what you choose and the project itself.
Now, it isn’t my place but if I would have bought you art it wouldn’t come from ikea and it would be of something you don’t already have in the house. I would have looked for something livelier, warmer, happier, people-filled for you. One of Chagall’s circus paintings (not the real thing obv) perhaps could be happy enough.
None of them for me. I find I just stop looking at anything on my wall after just a few views, so it may as well not be there at all; but of course that's just me. I do like art of most kinds, but only when fresh, or revisited after an absence. The only familiar sight I never tire of looking at is my beautiful wife, actually.
I had forgotten you are color blind so what you see is not what I / we see. Probably the color jumble of 1 is meaningless to you, while the simpler shapes of 2 and 3, neutral tones resonate.
#3 inspires crisp white, canvas brown(s), and black -- graphics and perhaps painted furniture. This particular print would welcome black-and-white photographs as wall companions.
Has to be #3... reminds me of a penpal for Albert. #2 looks very much to me like a monopoly board place... but I expect that's the point. #1 not for me.
As a cat lover , it's got to be number 3. But it's your room, your wall, your taste. I do like Gemma's Person's idea of you painting your own, though. "John and the gang, on the trendy blue sofa." xx
No. 3 definitely. I have a black cat, Morgana, and as other commenters have said maybe one you put together. It will be lovely whatever you decide. Ro (n.w. Italy)
No.3 is nice, but might upset you when Albert has gone. My suggestion for one available space is a small whiteboard with different coloured marker pens for you to doodle your own art as the moods come and go... Photos of the changing doodles could become a new feature of your ever-interesting blog. And good wishes from me, still here on Earth, but largely silent online, as the Solstice last week moved us into a real new year...
How about a big whiteboard instead? There you will be able to plot out your study regime, assignment deadlines, reading lists and other course related notes. Of course you must use "dry wipe" board pens.
I like all three # 1 is colourful, # 2 is my favourite and # 3 is very you. But, it must be your choice ..... you have to live with it. It won't be wrong which ever one you choose John. XXXX

ReplyDeleteOooh, all three quite diverse. I have to say I do like the colors in the Matisse piece. Very lively.
ReplyDeleteHas to be #3... reminds me of a penpal for Albert. #2 looks very much to me like a monopoly board place... but I expect that's the point. #1 not for me.

ReplyDeleteNo. 2 Wardour Street. The Marquee Club.
ReplyDeleteI like the black cat best and think it's perfect for your wall. But it depends on how happy your memories are of the place in No. 2
