Study Day

Tuesdays used to be choir days.
For the next nine months they are now my study day.
Tonight until nine, I have my lectures.
Before that this afternoon, I’m having special help by the IT department in order to get my head around Google classroom.
This morning and early afternoon , I’m studying.

I miss choir, but have solace in the understanding that I will be returning
So it’s study day today, work tomorrow and Mrs Harris Goes To Paris on Thursday.
Saturday I’m cooking dinner for my family
My first supper party for them for over four years.

  1. I hope you are starting study day with copious cups of coffee, wake those old brain cells up properly. Mrs Harris Goes to Paris looks like it should be a real fun 'British' style movie doesn't it. I'm looking forward to seeing it for myself.

  3. You can always sing at home...think of it as getting more oxygen into your body, liven up those brain cells before study!

  8. Online teaching/learning has its merits, although I prefer actual one-on-one and group discussion in a 'normal' teaching setting. Having delivered teaching sessions online myself via Zoom and MS Teams I cannot say they are enjoyable - at least not from the teachers perspective. Juggling slides and answering questions in the chat facility is well nigh impossible, unless there are two of you. Give me flip chart paper, marker pens and chatting to someone in real life over a cup of tea, rather than a bank of faces on a screen. I think this is what COVID has done to us and it's become the norm. I'm probably old fashioned and at 60 should be put out to grass. Good luck with Google Classroom. Thankfully, you have the reality of a family get together to look forward to.

  9. That was my biggest problem with school. My lack of technological skills. The younger students had grown up with it, and it was second nature to them. Everything was a struggle for me. Everything was new. Good luck.

  14. Good luck with your studies. And I hope that you can grasp the new technology. I find it hard to learn techie stuff - but if it's necessary, then that's what I do. Even if I grumble all the way :)

I'd be really interested in what you think of the film. I'm in the minority in that I didn't much like it (even though the lead was excellent). I had such high hopes, but alas, it was all a bit twee for my taste. Or maybe I'm just getting too jaded and cynical in my old age. I can suspend disbelief, but only so far.
