Normal Day

Our corner of Trelawnyd seems a bit busier than on late. Three men, including the ubiquitous Islwyn  are working of the Church Gates.
They’re fixing the hinges” Mrs Trellis informed me as she and Blue trotted down the lane.
And by the look of the ladder, one of them is giving the Lytchgate a spruce up.
Sailor John is walking around my old field photographing wild flowers.
Mrs X rang me up and asked if I could vouch for her again regarding her shotgun licence.

I’ve bought some cheap solar lights and have lined the back garden path with them in readiness for Saturday night. Mr Poznân thinks that they are an excellent idea for stopping accidents
He also told me my gate needed a lick of paint.
The yappy dogs are still at it next door.
I’m playing radio 2 a bit louder than I should to compensate.

  1. Life plods on. Shame about the yappy dogs. I've no experience, so can't offer any advice. (Well, not legal advice anyway!) I just hope they learn to be quiet, but unless the owners are around to train them, that's unlikely to happen. xx

  2. It is getting dark early these day. Enjoy the family gathering.

  3. Bloody neighbours - I wonder if they can be heard when you are indoors - and for how long and how often - and whether it affects you enjoying your own home x

    1. Not my home flis, but the garden . It has reduced my enjoyment of my back garden

    2. You could phone the Council - and explain that you Have sent a polite letter but that there has been no improvement - They then should write to them hopefully x

    3. I totally agree, flis. Are any other neighbours affected? If you could rally the troops to contact the Council, it would hopefully have more clout. xx

  4. And if it's bad you could try the loud one on the hives ( the top hats jumping up and down on ) x 🔊

  5. Solar lights in the garden are a great idea.

  6. Your newly lighted path will glow beautifully in the night. My town has a bylaw on yapping dogs. 10 minutes is the limit. Anyone can call in a complaint and the dog officer with the police arrive to give notice and a warning. It is sad that common sense isn't enough to keep peace and quiet.

  7. You should be able to report the yappers and actually have some action taken!

Your solar lights will lend a fairy tale splendor to your garden as well as illuminating the path.
Will you paint the gate before the gathering?
    Sorry about the yappy dogs.

    Hugs!

Shame it is the wrong day for playing New Order's Blue Monday; one of my all time favourites (and I am sure you enjoyed John Whaites and Johannes Radebe dancing a tango to it on last season's Strictly Come Dancing? If not - find it on YouTube at once. (Hot!) Is there anything more annoying than someone else's yappy dogs - when your dogs don't do that? Kep turning up the volume on the music and see if you annoying neighbours finally get the message. Or just shout 'Shut the **** up!" over the wall. May at least make you feel better!

  10. Oh, yes. Music always loud.
And solar lights sound like a good idea! I got some last year for my little garden and I love them. I even left them out during winter. So unexpected lights in the snow!

    XOXO

Yapping dogs next door would absolutely do my head in. Not sure what I'd do if my only next door neighbour and her silent cat moved out and dogs moved in.

  14. You should thank Mr Poznân for offering to paint the gate.

  15. I was going to say the same thing as Mitchell. Is Poznan offering to paint it?

    1. That is a hilarious take on it. How close does Mrs x live to aforementioned yappy dogs?

      Delete
    2. Close enough, I am sure, for John to say "I vouched for your licence so you owe me a favour..."

    3. A direction I hadn’t considered lol

  17. Mrs X and her shotgun is worrying me., why and when??. But then maybe this is a case of you can take the City Girl out of London, but you can't take the London out....etc. Otherwise it all sounds very 'Milk Wood' there today, l like the sound of those lights but not them yappy dogs Grrrr! 18. Might I suggest putting your radio in the garden, aiming it next door and turning it on full blast. I had a neighbor (we shared a wall) who worked late, and would come home and blast his television in his bedroom, which was on the other side of my bedroom wall. Talking did not help. He slept til noon. I began turning my radio on full blast in my bedroom before I left for work for the day. A compromise was swiftly reached.

  20. Have you considered recording the yappers and then going to whatever department within the District that would handle such a nuisance complaint and playing the recording for whomever and letting them know you have done everything you can do to get the neighbors to do what they should do with their dogs! Animal Control should be called to remove them from the home!!

  21. We never hear much about your neighbours.... tell us all!

Perhaps the neighbour’s barking dogs are talking to John’s three dogs. I wonder if they bark back.
