Good Old Herb

My plane home was delayed but I refused to get all pissed off with it all as the easyJet staff were good humoured and helpful and our Irish pilot jovial and apologetic.

The car park didn’t charge me extra for the delay and after a confusing wiz around the new roadworks near Widnes I finally got home in Wales  at 2.30 am.
I can’t sleep, even though I’m still on Sitges time so I ve grabbed a beer out of the fridge and set up a gift Janet gave me. A metal silhouette of Sitges church  which I thought was rather sweet.
It will look nice with a candle behind it
I’ve just been reviewing the last day listening to Herb Alpert on YouTube.
I went back to the bar where I saw Greta the diva at lunchtime Sunday but sadly she wasn’t there.
I stayed and had a beer and a somewhat dry Caesar Salad and watched the gay Sitges Promenade by.
It’s a kind of mincing Disney land at times …
And not really very real at all

  4. Best thing to do with delays is relax. Getting all het up doesn't get anyone anywhere. Anyway, glad you finally got home safe and sound with some lovely memories. I love the church silhouette. Janet knows your taste so well! xx

  5. Glad you had a good break with the family and were only a little late getting back home!
Your silhouette of Sitges Church is lovely, Janet definitely knows your tastes. Then again, she's known you for nine months longer than you've been here for, if you get what I mean!

  14. The Sitges church cutout is lovely. Janet chose well. A relatively smooth return home is all good. HA is a long time favorite. I have not heard that song in a long time.

Herb Alpert....a real blast from the past! I even had one of his albums, THANKS for the trip back in time, John! Your posts OFTEN make me smile, laugh, even get a bit teary-eyed sometimes. I ALWAYS look forward to reading a new one, have a lovely day, terribly hot here in Maine, USA.

What a gently hypnotic voice. Good for waking up to after a happy time away…. And coffee of course. Glad you had time connecting with your family.

  20. LOL. John, I had a vision of you whipping out a joint, dealing with the chaos by puffing on some fine herb. Herb Alpert. I am still laughing.

  21. I love Herb Alpert - used to put the only album on the turntable while doing dishes. It is motivating music, depending on your choice. Good memories. Ranee (MN) USA

  22. Enjoyed your earlier accounts of family get-together. Often seems like they'll always be around, but often ultimately that ceases to be the case so appreciate while you can.
