Cold

It’s cold this morning, very cold.
Overnight even Albert tiptoed on my bed in order to secrete himself next to a warm Mary, a move the elicited a jealous growl from Dorothy which was loud enough to wake me up.
A sharp tap on the Bonce was all that she needed to be silenced and peace was restored.
All three were still in bed when I woke, cuddled up in a knot of paws and legs and tails.
And all three didn’t want to move when I called them
I needed to get up earlier today, as it’s Bluebell’s service.

I’m just grabbing a quick coffee now , in order to think about my day.
Apart from Bluebell I’ve nothing sorted until 5 pm when I’m meeting a friend to see Belfast.
Im not a huge fan of Ken Branagh ever since he did the dirty on Emma Thompson ( who is a goddess in my eyes )
I still love her feisty Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing who replies to Don Pedro’s comment that she has a merry heart
Yea, my lord, I thank it, poor fool as it keeps on the windy side of care “
A great line in a so so film

I caught up with Nu on the phone and laughed a lot

Anyhow the field gate is open. I wonder if there is a funeral today. It’s not mine anymore so I’m not privy with such news.
It’s a cold day to be standing in the graveyard

  2. It's not your funeral? That's good because you are not dead yet. Emma Thompson was very attractive back in the day wasn't she? Is she repeatedly asking, "Shag?" in that silent clip?

I too stumbled at your funeral before you explained.

Branagh and Thompson. Let me think. Ah yes, Fortunes of War, one of the finest television series ever made.

I too have found the last few days very cold. New pains in my bones that weren't there last winter (the pains not the bones, before YP picks it up)!

  8. It's icy colder today here too-but just as we were about to leave I got flustered and removed my fleece from underneath my coat-wrong decision-We spoke to a teacher collecting cones for a project but she wasn't having much luck filling her ice cream container but did find some useful twigs x

  9. Shame you had to get up from under the snuggly, animal-strewn duvet. Hurry back and get warm again. Hope Bluebell's service doesn't throw up any (expensive) problems! xx

  10. Hope your fireplace has been fixed? It's -25C here today, -32C with the wind. Can you imagine? Happy to be working AT HOME, no walking across the parking lot/tundra to get to work.

  11. So, you had a three animal night. I don't know about cats, but dogs are great bed warmers.

  14. We are getting cold whether here and just enough snow to keep the ground covered, but the roads clear. I don't have dogs to keep me warm but I box myself in with the extra pillows and stay that way until the darkness fades.

  15. It's cold and snowy here in Ontario. We had 55cm on the ground already and last night we got topped-up with 15ish more. It's absolutely gorgeous out there. If I was inclined to build a snow fort, we have the perfect conditions.

  16. It's cold and overcast here too. My Bernese Mountain dog loves the snow and cold. Overheating is his problem so no cuddles in the bed.

Ah, I agree about Kenneth Branagh's dastardly behavior to the sublime Emma Thompson and I, too, love "Much Ado About Nothing".
Sorry you had to get out on such a cold morning to take Bluebell in for service. Hope you got a ride back home.
In DH's family, you knew it was cold when it was described as a "3 dog night", all sharing the warmth.
    On to coffee for me.

    Hugs!

  20. In old age we have single beds. The two dogs and two cats insist on sharing my bed with me. A bugger in the summer but very welcome in the winter. I have been known to place them strategically for maximum warmth.

    1. Dogs, even rescue dogs as one of mine is, know the difference between a tap (whether sharp or not) from a loving owner and a smack of mistreatment. Speaking to them in the night causes you all to wake up, far better to control things this way with just the one pet in question being reminded of family rules.
