But What?

I’m feeling somewhat unsettled today and I don’t know quite why.
I had an unsettled night.
So much so that Dorothy woke up from her sleep apnoea slumber to lick the back of my neck until I fell asleep again.
I have a sense of waiting for something important is about to happen.
But I have no idea of just what that something is.
It’s wrong footing me, somewhat.

I woke at dawn, with the bedroom full of a strange red glow and went outside to look and photograph  the frozen but fiery sky to the east.
Further down the lane Trendy Carol had been photographing the skyline too. She was dressed in a fashionable long green coat and hat.
“ We are taking the girls tomorrow arnt we ?” She called , bringing a type of normality to the unreal morning.
I’m back at work on days after today.

I feel I’m waiting for someone to knock on the door .
Or for the phone to ring.
Or a message to ping.
It’s a strange feeling.

My sister is coming to organise my “patio” with its half arsed planters this afternoon and I’m meeting some friends shortly for lunch shortly.
Choir on zoom later, and I’ve collected all of the ingredients to make gyoza dumplings for my healthy lunch tomorrow.
The dogs have been walked and fed
And Dorothy is watching me carefully under a heavy brow from her usual spot on the kitchen reading chair
Something is going to happen…I’m sure of it

But what ?

  1. The first two sunrise pictures suggest that the sky has been somehow ripped with that curious line near the top. Perhaps this is also a sign that something is about to happen.

    1. Yes there was a clear line in the sky
      It was the oddest thing

  3. I know that feeling. It's rather unsettling, isn't it? I hope your premonition turns out to be something good. Those sunrise photos are spectacular. I noticed the clouds looked like that here, almost like a fluffy blanket thrown across the sky. xx

  5. Well, if feeling unsettled for no obvious reason didn’t do it, that sky certainly would. Hope it was just unsettled dreams that crept into your awake time and that the day has improved.

Our birthdays are close together I think? And exact age.
Does this mean it's our turn for some good luck/positivity?
I bloody hope so, it's about time.
    Take care love

We had that very odd light in South West Wales this morning as well. Houses that are normally cream showed up as pale terracotta and the sky was streaked with pink. It was quite unsettling in itself.

    1. The first full moon in January has often been referred to as the Wolf Moon for centuries. Its origin comes from Native Americans who often heard wolves howling during cold winter nights at this time of year, according to the Farmer's Almanac

  12. I agree with MarisAna-I even heard a mention of The Wolf Moon on the radio- As I understand some will be sensitive to it-not howling as wolves may do but the knowledge that we must survive x

  13. Beautiful sunrise and photos. Change is in the air for a lot of people something indefinite but you know something is going to happen. It is also full moon season which can affect people in individual ways. Full moon syndrome tends to run in families. It always unsettles me, and has other members of the family as well. It is like feeling the change in the seasons. Something indefinable. A lot of people pooh pooh the Moon syndrome thing, but if the Moon can affect the sea and the planet in different ways why not us too. Does not happen with everyone just a few. Will have to wait for the Universe to deliver whatever is going to happen. It is tantalising, but you have an inner knowing that something is on the move. We cannot control it that is what ego in all of us ever wants to do. You just have to go with the flow. This is your journey to follow. Your feelings your pace. Individual things for all different people, some good but even those not so good are probably better for the individual in the longer term. A lesson to be learned from everything. I think you are on a journey of discovery just like the Dawntreader! Of course and as always under the eagle eye of Miss Dorothy. All will happen in its own time xx

What an amazing morning sky! I'm glad you and Chic Eleanor didn't miss it.
My grandmother called your feeling of being 'off' somehow as waiting for the other shoe to fall. I join all who hope that it will be something good.

    Hugs!

  16. John, I thoroughly enjoy your blog, first time commenting. I also get that “feelings”. I usually can’t get someone out of my mind, and it can be a random person. Then I usually run into them or, unfortunately, read about them in the obits. But also feeling like something is going to happen. Thank you for sharing your life with us. Sharon in Colorado, USA

  17. Love the photos!
And that feeling drives me crazy! That feeling that the 'other shoe' is about to fall is maddening. Hopefully it's good news.

  18. Patience, John, patience. All will be revealed. Or go unnoticed.

In the motherland there are several sayings, loosely translated, "evening red signals good weather, morning red bad" (well, that's farmers for you; all they focus on is their crop). Vaguely unsettling, apparently a red sky in the morning will bring death. Don't take it literally. In dream speak death is a symbol for new beginnings.

So just sit tight, relax and don't forget your umbrella,
    U

  20. Red sky at night, shepherds delight, red sky in the morning, shepherds warning. That is the English saying. Beautiful photos especially the sunrise and the frost. The line is the sky is strange though. I too have the unexplained unsettling feeling from time to time.

    2. You're the only other person I've heard say sailor's warning. My hubby says that (he's from Grimsby) and we always argue which is correct, sailor or shepherd. xx

In my family in the Southern US, it was always "sailor's delight" and "sailors take warning".

  23. On the Spiritual meanings site it is suggested that at the time of a Wolf Moon this may be a time for Transformation and introspection of oneself-I was quite close to a Shamen for a while and so I believe x

  24. Funnily enough I have that feeling too today John - while this lovely weather holds I am walking every day and even then I felt that something was about to happen. Hopefully a good night's sleep will wipe the feeling off - I didn't sleep well either.

  27. I, like Pattypan, think you might have experienced some full moon syndrome last night. On the night of a full moon, I often have a sleepless night and feel off the next morning. Teachers often complain about the effect it has on student behaviour.

    1. Ratana is glad to read the whole content of this blog (the whole content? That would take a while) and is very excited. Why are there such idiots in this world? They spoil it. Mind you a Nigerian distant third cousin of mine, twice removed, wants to send me ten million US dollars in return for a mere 1 thousand dollar transaction fee, so I am made up about that, ay? Let the good times roll...
