AND JUST LIKE THAT

Ok no Magna
Ok no Samantha
Ok not much Stanford
But I’m looking forward to the reboot
It was very much part of my life in the six years from 1998
I must have known that originally it was a series about four gay men
I think the series will eclipse the awful movies
“ party of three ?” …squeal
Had me totally
I always adored Miranda’s character

  1. Nope. Samantha was the only one I really liked. I saw a lot of myself in her. Sarah Jessica Parker makes me want to vomit in anything she has ever done...not sure why.

    1. I get this as I’ve never warmed to her
But the ensemble works . I suspect Samantha II will be there

  2. No Samantha?! I don't know, that makes me sad. I'll still watch it, but it wont be the same without her. I have a bit of a crush on Sara Ramirez so looking forward to that.

  5. I can't wait. I am completely fascinated by SJP.

  6. I'm the minority and do not care for SIC. For me the drama is over-the-top and not particularly attractive in women.
That said, it probably helps build a good following.

  7. MIRANDA! That's my pal Cynthia Nixon, from my Mexico days. (Her father, Walter, was my best friend there and she used to come to visit. But before S&TC.)

  8. I've never seen it, but imagine it's all about 'women on the pull'. I think I'm more suited to The Archers.

We watched it as it was SUCH a departure from our real lives with teen kids, school, work, and an adorable tri-color Basset Hound. I don't miss the work, am still attached to the grown kids, but do really miss our sweet Basset, Daisy.

    Hugs!

  10. I am not familiar with it. I am confused about what it is in fact.

    1. It’s frothy rubbish about four female friends in New York. Originally it was going to be a gay soap opera of sorts .
Mostly comic , occasionally ground breaking

  11. I loved the series but the other two movies were a bit meh. This trailer looks encouraging.

  12. I always loved it and have watched repeats many times. Funnily enough it was my then, teenage sons, that introduced me to it along with Friends also. I love Carrie the best.

  13. Never seen one episode of "Sex in the City" and have no intention of altering that position. I would rather watch paint drying.

  14. I enjoyed Sex in the City and often watch reruns of it on TV. Samantha and Charlotte were my favorite characters on it. Mr. Big was pretty good, but I probably would have stuck with the furniture building guy, his name trapped in a brain block right now, but for Carrie he might have been too mundane. I also thought Charlotte's Cavalier King George Spaniel was a pretty little dog. I've experienced waiting for an overseas adoption twice. So I get misty when I watch the episode when Charlotte and Harry finally receive word that their baby daughter is coming from China.

  15. Well that looks pretty dreadful. Then, I didn't rate the original very highly, with the exception of Kin Cattrall, who has done absolutely the right thing and dodged this bullet!

  16. I have never seen any of the episodes. Was it on cable TV? I never had cable back in the day.

  17. I'm another in the "never watched, don't want to" brigade! Still, it would be a very dull world if we all liked the same thing. Are you feeling any better yet? xx

  18. Believe it or not, I never really watched it either. Just a few episodes here and there. I can see how people liked it, though, and it does capture the New York of the optimistic late '90s very well. I've heard the reboot is actually pretty good.

  19. I've always adored 'Sex in the City'... I call it my guilty pleasure..lol I'm pretty sure i've seen every episode by now.. The movies sure were a let down though... but i did watch them... it was like watching a car accident in slow motion..

  20. Never watched it and I guess never will. Who wants to be in NYC anyway - we have given up going there even for a weekend. . . . . give me the countryside any day. As Cro said, The Archers are better, although I've not heard it since the '60's as sadly we can't get it over here!
Hope you are doing better dear John. I'm just back from the Arizona desert - nice for a few days but could never live there either!

  21. I came to that series late after listening to a California friend wax poetic about it for years.
I could see myself in Miranda. More than any of the three.
Thought SJP's outfits were garish and that she acted like a little girl when speaking to men. Couldn't relate at all. Seemed phony; no adult woman dresses or acts that way, do they?
Still I hope to see the new edition one day, now that the characters will have grown up a little. -Kate
