  2. Spending that alleged windfall or the stash of hidden earnings? Plus think of the energy bill and carbon footprint? Profligacy Personified, that's you... (Yes, I jest). I could've added a smiley but I hate the little bleeders.

Sweet! When my mother decided she was too old (84) to put up a large tree, I sent her a wee 18" tree, a small star for the top (we're star people), tiny ornaments, and made a diminutive Christmas tree skirt for the base. It all fit into a Computer paper box that happened to have a red lid. On the top I wrote "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas". She was delighted and ever after, she invited her older sister over and they put up that tree together.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas, John! No large tree needed.

    Hugs!

  9. We gave up the large tree when the first grandchild was at the "impossible" stage, and the gorgeous dog insisted on needing to look out the front window and knocking things off. Over here, finding decorations for the tiny tree is a major problem - the best things have been those little wineglass thingies, and they're easy to put on and remove - which is super fiddly on a small tree. Have you found anything designed for miniature trees?

  20. For the past I-don't-know-how-many-years I have used a potted Norfolk pine as my Christmas tree. Last year I bought a new one as the old one was too heavy to drag inside. I have since planted that one in the yard. The tiny one I got last Christmas is now about four inches taller, which makes it about sixteen inches tall and is still wearing its ornaments from last year. I have smiled every time I've watered it on the front porch where it's been waiting patiently to play its Christmas role again.

  25. Far too early for trees; you should be fined! No Christmas decorations should be allowed before Dec 15th.

  28. Well, there's no need for a massive tree. We all need to scale our Christmas festivities down a bit. Christmas is getting way out of hand.

  30. I used to decorate the house for xmas, big tree, the works. Everyone helped with the decorating, but no one helps when it’s time to undecorate so I’ve stopped doing it. I now put out a small tree that belonged to my mother in law. It takes three minutes to unbox, arrange the branches, and put the box away. If I want a full blown experience I can go to visit my daughters. They have each carried on the tradition of overblown decorating.
It only takes 2 minutes to put it away on New Year’s Day.
