I found this on my phone last night
I’d forgotten about it because ….
I was slightly pissed wheni took it.
It’s a photo snap of a photograph taken in the wedding photo booth late Friday night
I liked this silly addition to modern wedding etiquette
A booth where drunk wedding guests could dress up like loons and get photographed as a memory in lieu of those vapid formal wedding photos of yesteryear
The photo was then put into an album with written comments by the sitters
All I wrote was “ There’s life in the old dogs yet”
I think it summed up things quite nicely….well so I thought….
I’m on nights later today , so I’ve been out for a long walk and breakfast at y shed
Mary waited patiently whilst Dorothy chewed her lead until it snapped
I’m a bit Tired of all and then nothing ……..
Clearly, your family is a lot of fun and what could be better than that?! Love the photo!!
ReplyDeleteHugs!
So much fun! I went to a big birthday bash once where they'd rented a photo booth for the event. My fave prop was a Viking helmet with horns and big kooky glasses. Good times!
ReplyDeleteWhat a hoot. Your family gets in the spirit of things, mine sadly wouldn't ever consent to silliness despite me being very silly. Oh well it takes all sorts.

Those booths are fun!
ReplyDeleteAll or nothing is hard to manage. So up and down for your body and emotions.
That is such a fun photo.
ReplyDeletep.s. I think wedding photos lost their class when they went over to colour. The black and white ones are wonderful.
Definitely life in the old dog! You've had such an emotional few weeks, John, it's not surprising you feel a bit deflated. Go easy on yourself and ease back into some sort of routine. xx
ReplyDeleteIs that you John with the Elton glasses and Madonna pink cowboy hat?x
ReplyDeleteElton John would be envious!
ReplyDeleteI love a bit of fun at a wedding. I'm glad you had fun but sorry to hear you have been feeling rather flat since.
ReplyDeleteMy son recently told me he was feeling melancholy. It was a word I hadn't heard for a long time and an unusual word for a young man to use. I told my son it was OK to feel like that, I do sometimes. I was glad that he felt he could talk to me about it. I looked up the meaning of melancholy and it describes perfectly how many of us are feeling these days.
Your final line is poignant, and resonant, but we can often find something to make of what seemed nothing. Just needs, perhaps, a pause, a review, a rethink, then a shift of mental gear. It was good to see you happy-dancing at the wedding.
ReplyDeleteBetter than to have all and then nothing compared to mediocrity. x
ReplyDeleteengagement, exhaustion and rest, is part of the reset of our beings. Take care,
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a great time! Good memories to lift your spirits as you get back to work!
ReplyDeleteGoing from the sublime to the ridiculous is good fun. Silly fun brings laughter and light and don't we all need it. It's back to the daily grind... Dorothy and Mary seem like polar opposites.
ReplyDeleteCertainly a more lively photo than those old hidebound traditional portraits!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun photo and I bet this wedding will be remembered.
ReplyDeleteI've really been enjoying your entries lately. The picture is a winner.
ReplyDeleteFun photo, it looks like everyone had a good time. Mary sure looks spiffy with her new haircut.
ReplyDeleteThat picture is so happy! You've had quite a week. Maybe now you can slip back into your usual routine. Mary looks wonderful. Has she met her possible suitor yet? ; )
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about 'all and then nothing' - it is the price we pay for living alone I'm afraid John.
ReplyDeleteThat photo is exactly how a good reception should look after slightly too much alcohol has been imbibed and some good cheesy tunes have been danced to.
