Get Ahead Get A Hat

I don’t wear hats as a rule . In winter I prefer those woolly beanie hats to anything else, but these are purely functional. I don’t go for sports hats. I think in older men, they are generally worn in an effort to look younger or to cover baldness.
I have a big head…that’s another reason I don’t wear hats, so this morning when Dorothy ran over with a black cap in her mouth, I was all ready to return it to the bench from which she had taken it.
I had seen the cap on Monday where it had been placed by a Walker thinking it’s owner would retrace their steps to retrieve it. Two days later it was still there.
I put it on.
It was cool with dew and that felt good
And Cinderella, it was a perfect fit.
I’ve kept it !
It makes me look a tiny bit younger and it covers my admittedly very small bald spot.

Seeing I have to be at Mowgli ( https://www.mowglistreetfood.com/ ) in Liverpool by 6 ish, I’m staying home today to do gardening.

Finally big Good luck to the powerhouse which is Cheryl R who has organised tonight’s Bingo and cake sale at the Memorial Hall tonight. She’s just collected my rather banal banana loaves and is offering lotus Caramel Sponges for sale
Bloody lovely

  1. No point getting a hat unless you get a head first.

  5. Excellent find! I'd have kept it too. Does LFC stand for Liverpool Football Club? (Just a guess.)

  6. I'll wear a knit cap in winter to keep my head warm, and a ball cap the rest of the year when my hair looks like a bird's nest and I have to go out.
No one needs to see that!

  7. Suits you. My daughter would approve, she's a big Liverpool FC fan. Hope the bingo and cake sale goes well and makes loads of dosh! xx

    2. The cap looks good on you, but honestly, LFC, you should be ashamed of yourself!
There is only ONE football team in Liverpool worth supporting, and it's Everton!
A man who lives in our road wears a beret, pulled way down at the back of his head, presumably to hide a bald patch. He wears it every day, rain, sun, snow, every single day, the same beret, it must stink by now! We don't know his name, so in this house he's called 'Hatty'! (Not 'Hattie' for obvious reasons!). X

    2. Fantasy? So LFC = Lustful Fantasy Companion (although unfortunately LFC does lend itself to alternative and much less pleasant possibilities, but I decided to restrain myself for at least my first comment after a lengthy break)

    1. Take no notice of the beard comment John, your beard looks great. I noticed on your recent photo with Alex that your beard looked very trim and tidy and smart. You're looking good.
There's always someone who has to pull you down isn't there?

  16. I look like hell in a ball cap but I wear one if my hair is particularly greasy on a particular day and I have to go out in public. TMI? Your cap, on the other hand, looks good on you!

Your face is noticeably thinner in today's photo and I like the hat! Nice glasses, too.
Oh, the lotus Caramel sponge looks delicious. Will you buy one?
It's interesting that Liverpool has "street food". Is there a ferry to Liverpool or do you drive over a bridge to get there?
    Enjoy your day!

  22. Looking good. The hat is a good find and definite keeper. With Cheryl's guidance, the bingo and cake sale sounds like it's coming together well.

  23. Hat looks good, and will shade your face and prevent you burning...great addition to the wardrobe.
Put me down for some of the lotus sponges...they look gorgeous!

  24. I don't usually wear hats either, though I always wore a baseball cap when I was in Australia to protect myself against the extreme heat. You'd be foolish not to.

  25. I wear hats in winter. Occasionally at other times. My head size runs small so many adult hats are too big, and some children's hats are too childish for me to wear unless i choose to look ridiculous.

At my local free bulletin board group on facebook, a member posted she had a very warm winter hat that was a tad too small. It was listed as small adult size, but too small for her. It fit me perfectly and will be a boon when I shovel snow this winter.

  26. No John. Remember the figure. Enjoy your day. Oh and the hat looks fantastic - you look younger, trendier and definitely more handsome.

  27. The good thing about this style of brimmed hat is that it can keep the rain off your glasses. Also, it looks good on you!

  31. I don't like hats much either, but as the hair thins I find myself having one around just in case.

  32. I'm envious. I don't eat out very often but Mowgli is my favourite. I hope you had a wonderful time. I also hope the Bingo went well. X

  34. Whoever chucked the hat away did the right thing it's a Liverpool FC hat. That would never get over the threshold of this house!
