Jisas Yu Holem Hand Blong Mi

This hymn, sung in Solomon Island Pijin, is hypnotic as it is strange.
For some strange reason it’s been going around my head today.
Translated it’s title means Jesus hold my hand

I can’t think of the last time I held someone’s hand….
Probably at work, but I can’t remember any specifics.

This scene has flashed through my mind too
And this one too

This one too

It's Glasgow, March,
And we walk hand-in-hand
In the park

Now it's 3:13
And I'm late,
And it's time
I make a choice
We're both boys,
You see.

If you were to go
Back and look,
You'd see a hundred eyes
Hurry to objectify
This hand-in-hand stance
It's a flurried
Dance
Of reaction.
Some smile, they're proud
And they want me to know
But there's a darker
Shade of brow
That balances the books
The kind of look that challenges
Like this is some chess game
And I'm in check
And I'm second-guessing
What they might do next
Point me out to all the
Pawns in the crowd
Spawn
A following
Whose glowers linger on
So that our hands
Are no longer holding
But dragging
Glare after
Glare
Snowballin' stares
Stretching
Elastic social disgrace
Through this forbidden space
And the scales
Are well and truly tipped.

Time For Love

I miss it, a little x

  1. People often assume that relationships are about passion and desire but it's the little things like holding hands and just being there that matter more, I feel.

  2. We are all meant to love and be loved. It's part of the human condition. No question about it. Touch, holding hands, the support and all knowing glances, and let's not forget the fun and flirty gestures.

Holding hands spans all ages and is as comforting as a good hug.
May there be many opportunities in our futures for holding hands and hugging.

    Hugs!

  6. I didn't realise until now that this is lacking in my life-I can remember the anticipation and thrill on several occasions of my longing being reciprocated-it all seems so very long ago-thinking of it I'm tearful again x

  7. A very good friend of mine (of NZ parents) was born in the Solomons, and occasionally speaks some pijin. It's a very beautiful, if slightly comical, language.

    1. I'm sorry Andi. It's the same for me holding my husband's hand, wearing a plastic pinny, mask and gloves. A visit with him only by appointment and for a limited time in a designated area. He's brought out to see me as if he's in prison having a visitor at visiting time and taken away again afterwards.
We can't see each other when we choose or when he's sad and distressed.
I hope your Mum benefits from your hand holding even with the glove. My husband's hand is unresponsive due to him being stolen away by dementia.
I miss being loved, his hand touching my shoulder or holding my hand. To know I won't experience these things again hurts.
I hope you soon have better times with your Mum.

  13. LOVED 'The Fosters'!
I do remember the first time I held hands with someone other than my family......with a girl when I was 12 and with a boy/Ron when I was 24. Both times were monumental in my mind. A major step/life-experience.

  16. I was diagnosed as HEPATITIS B carrier in 2013 with fibrosis of the
liver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
became resistant. I started on HEPATITIS B Herbal treatment from
ULTIMATE LIFE CLINIC (www.ultimatelifeclinic.com) in March, 2020. Their
treatment totally reversed the virus. I did another blood test after
the 6 months long treatment and tested negative to the virus. Amazing
treatment! This treatment is a breakthrough for all HBV carriers.
