….so said the wonderful Moria Rose from Schitts Creek.
I’m happy to steal her lines any day even if they were uttered with no self awareness whatsoever.
Sunday today and after a short sleep I intend to meet up with my friend Colin for Lunch and Bette Davis
It’s going to be overcast and gloomy, ideal weather for Now Voyager me thinks.
I managed to sort out a preliminary meeting of “ The Friends of St Michael’s” for the 2nd of September inside the Church itself, where we hope to organise an action group into some sort of coherent force so that the Church can eventually become a Pilgrim Church and tomorrow I’ve been asked by the community association to go to a site meeting at the village pond between the Community Association who are planning to rejuvenate the green space and the Clwydian ANOB ( Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty) I think I’ve been invited to represent an “ ordinary villager”
Which is nice.
It’s nice to be useful
I think it's wonderful to be invited to help-it makes me feel good that someone thinks that I can be of some use-only this afternoon I helped at a neighbours charity event in her garden-I was on the preserves and cake and vegetable stall-it began raining as I left home but I quickly popped on my wellies with my summer dress-and oddly won my donated bottle of malbec wine back-spooky-quickly I handed to a neighbour-can't sniff that x
ReplyDeleteI'd tell him to sod off!
DeleteHow wonderful to have plans for lunch with Colin and Bette Davis in Now Voyager for afters! The weather couldn't be better for that.
ReplyDeleteHope all comes together like a clockwork for St. Michaels and the community.
Wouldn't that green space be "AOONB" or "AONB"? Just wondering...
Hugs!

DeleteI would hardly have recognised BD from that photo. She must have been no more than 18.
ReplyDeleteShe was around 34
DeleteIt’s nice to be useful and also very useful to be nice xxx
ReplyDeleteNot just being useful but clearly recognised as the man to go for sanity compassion and a trustworthy overview. No better compliment m my friend.
ReplyDeleteBTW my cousin lived in a narrowboat for some years. As a huge Bette Davis fan, it was called Now Voyager. Perfect name?
And heartily recommend The Courier. A fascinating detail from history and lovely nuanced acting in a film that assumes audiences are actually intelligent.
Good for the village to be able to meet and plan again after restrictions. Hope all the meetings go well and you enjoy the film.
ReplyDeleteThere are pointless, boring meetings which we would all rather avoid...and there are fun ones, and meetings where important plans are made...those are the kind you will have today!
ReplyDeletePS You are not an 'ordinary' villager, you are one that people know from past experience will get involved, and do more than joust talk!
ReplyDeleteIn no way are you ordinary. You are a very special, much-admired and loved member of your community. You have been asked because your contribution will be valued and appreciated. Your meetings sound so much more interesting than many I've been to. Although I expect you've been to many of those, too. The ones where you sit there thinking, "What the f*** am I doing here?" xx
ReplyDeleteExtra-ordinary! :)
ReplyDeleteAn "ordinary villager"? No way! You are extraordinary.
ReplyDeleteYour extraordinary planning and organizing skills are always in demand
ReplyDeleteRight the praise is all well and good, but despite certain protestations I’m more ordinary than most
ReplyDeleteMiss Tallulah Bankhead quote comes to mind
“ there’s less to him than meets the eye”
Well, since the weight loss, there's certainly less of you. But what's there is far from ordinary. Take the praise - we all know better than you!😃 xx
Deleteyou are far from ordinary!
ReplyDeleteUseful??? Without you the village would be bereft John
ReplyDeleteYou bring well-grounded and actionable thinking to the table. I'm not surprised you are invited to important meetings. Enjoy your meet-up with Colin.
ReplyDeleteAnd are you going to wear that hat to the pond meeting? :)

ReplyDeleteI was diagnosed as HEPATITIS B carrier in 2013 with fibrosis of the
ReplyDeleteliver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
became resistant. I started on HEPATITIS B Herbal treatment from
ULTIMATE LIFE CLINIC (www.ultimatelifeclinic.com) in March, 2020. Their
treatment totally reversed the virus. I did another blood test after
the 6 months long treatment and tested negative to the virus. Amazing
treatment! This treatment is a breakthrough for all HBV carriers.
