At 8.30 pm Albert followed us for our evening dog walk and was clipped by a blue estate car speeding up the lane towards Cwm, as he galloped for cover. I saw him get lifted into the air
He ran into Graham the  shepherd’s field next to Trendy Carol’s
And disappeared
I looked but could find him
Twenty minutes ago he finally walked into the living room  with a vague limp and a serious attitude
I’ve checked him and his legs look ok
And he’s now sat on the trendy blue sofa looking majorly pissed off
These animals will be the death of me

  4. Cats have a huge ability to just sort of laugh off what would put the humans among them in a hospital. I think it's called "nine lives".

  5. Thank goodness. I love reading about Albert and hate to think of anything bad happening to him. Thank you for your continuing good wishes.

  6. Did the speeding car even stop? Glad Albert is okay. He's lucky you have medical knowledge or he might have had to be carted off to the vet. Poor Albert, poor John.

  7. What a fright for you to see poor Albert get clipped, and I am so glad he walked back to your house and is OK.

  14. Not to worry you but keep an eye out for symptoms of internal injuries, won't you? I know you probably are already aware of that particular danger, but ...

  15. Phew, what a lucky escape!! He looks a bit like he's willing you to exact some kind of revenge for him.

  16. When you love them, they drive you crazy, because they know they can.

  17. Do keep an eye on Albert to make sure he's okay. So very scary for that kitty! He may think twice about going for a walk again!

So glad he is OK, keep both eyes on him. Invest in a shoulder carrier for his evening stroll. Sure that will go over real well!

  21. Oh Albert! Poor boy! I know you have said that he always looks somewhat wide-eyed and startled, but he seems even more so in that picture. I think a wee bit of tuna might be in order. I hope he is alright in the end. -Jenn

Goodness! Am glad Albert is okay, if miffed and limping slightly. Good you could check Albert with your nursing knowledge and careful hands. As you know, Albert may be sore in the morning or right as rain, cats being cats. How many of those 9 lives does Albert have left?

    Hugs!

  24. How frightening for Albert and you both. Isn't this the second time he has been hit by a car? I do hope he is okay. He will be quite sore for awhile I'm sure.

  25. Some of our cats used to follow us for a walk and although the lane was very quiet, I could never relax until we got home again.

Poor Albert - I imagine he will be feeling sore today, but hope he is OK.

  26. How horrible for both you and Albert. Such a shame as he likes being part of the group walk. Our animals bring fear and grief sometimes as well as sheer joy. Hard to know how to protect him as he is an independent soul.

  27. ! ! ! ! I can now categorically state that is is possible to read a whole Blog entry without breathing! Poor Albert - lucky, lucky Albert. Poor you, John. You must've thought the worst - I certainly was. How was your first day back John?

  33. Oh no, poor Albert. I love Albert …. Will you take him to the Vet just to check ? XXXX

  34. Did you check your own blood pressure?

  35. One of those wretched heart-in-mouth moments which would mark many of us for life. As for the lucky [again] Albert, he's almost certainly long since forgot about it - and if his limp is persisting I doubt he'll make an association with what happened. Even so let's be thankful for his surviving with what sounds like a relatively minor mishap, we fervently hope.

  36. Very lucky survival Albert ((0))
People do speed through villages..some do WELL over 30mph up our road and we have speed bumps...

  37. When that happened to our tuxedo cat poor sod had a dislocated hip and perforated diaphragm. Wonder she survived but she did. I'm still recovering from the blasted bill

  38. Oh my, just read what happened to Albert!
Once again . . poor dear!
    Nine lives!

  39. Poor Albert hope he is ok xx

  40. Could you request from the Highway department a sign for the road such as"slow down"or"pedestrians crossing"-you could say that you have been very nearly killed on several occasions and there are others who had narrow escapes from speeding motorists also x
