While I don't really like the actor, how deliciously he underplayed and lol at her knowing from 1968. Mothers and their ilk always know. Did yours?
Happy Gay Pride to Wales and to you as a respected person in your village. Gays don't come in any shape, size, ethnicity or age. We have only one thing in common.
I can't imagine how it must have been to dare not speak to anyone about my sexual preference-A topic of conversation with my friends was always boys-The only problem I had from curious people was"do you have children?"-"why not?"(I didn't like the intrusion)-My mum had a male gay cousin on each side of her family but I remember asking questions when I was little and mum saying quietly"its Norman's friend" or"Don't ask Grayham that"-I remember the feeling of there being a secret and I was curious-I grew up in the 60s x
It has been my understanding that ALL of June is Pride Month ... so come tomorrow night ... the month is over, however, being gay continues and being proud of your own status continues on! 🏳🌈
As I once read, "Be yourself, everyone else is taken" Happy Pride month! I love your rainbow heart that's on the right side of your blog. Wonderful scene from that wonderful old movie.
I'd expect this scene to to have been one of several to be cut in certain countries, particularly in eastern Europe as well as Asia, which allowed the film to be played at all.
Playing devil's advocate it's actually Pride month which is inclusive of all and not just us gays. Also please don't knock rainbows and sparkles x
ReplyDeleteNot knocking them mave, I love a good sparkle!!!!!just reminding that there’s a quieter side to everything including “ us”
DeleteI love this scene.

My mother was too self absorbed to give it thought. My elder sister knew
ReplyDeleteHappy Pride to you, I think most often people just know, and we should say more.

DeleteBill Nighy is possibly my least favourite actor, but he seemed more 'real' in that clip than in anything I've seen him in.

ReplyDeleteI love this film, and every time I watch it I cry at the end and for a few days afterwards my thoughts have a Welsh accent
