I've never seen that but I do remember Ertha Kitt well for other songs she sang. Ta for that amazing video and I agree with MargaretP, anne marie, and Debra!
May this be the peak of the pandemic and may things start quickly improving. I'm glass at least the government is taking proper control (they are, aren't they?). Anyway, thanks for Eartha. She was incredible in so many ways.
...or he may be a bit of a bull-shitter, I use "Hey ho" all the time, as do many people, and I was unaware until now of any link to Shakespeare. But perhaps I am making much ado about nothing :)
Adore her. She was such an amazing woman. I love that she stood up to Lyndon Johnson... I've never seen this clip. Blows me away. So talented. So skilled. Thanks for sharing. Stay strong, stay healthy, stay safe.
Around 1969 I was living in W. Los Angeles. Didn't have any money but, on a whim, my husband and I took a little jaunt to Rodeo Dr. in Beverly Hills just for the fun of it. I went into the trendy store "Paraphernalia" where they had clothes from designers like Betsey Johnson and was browsing through the clearance rack when the woman next to me reached across in front of me to grab an article of clothing. It was Eartha Kitt. I kind of melted away into a puddle of invisibility. I didn't buy anything, but who needed to at that point?
It was great, but I have to say that I have always found her a bit scary. I think it goes back to when I was a kid. I was in a West Indian kitchen run by a diminutive but powerful woman a few years ago, and I said that I only wanted something small and tasty. She said, "How about me?" and posed like Eartha.
Perhaps next time you are walking out with your doggies John you may exude Eartha just for a moment x

ReplyDeleteYou're just an old fashioned girl, John.
ReplyDeleteTotally off topic: does your often used "Hey, ho" stem from Shakespeares Twelfth Night? Just came accros it as it is twelfth night tonight
ReplyDeleteJust as I thought
