Willis

My low mood recently hasn’t been helped by a recurrent urine infection which now seems to be finally reacting to a second load of antibiotics.
A fourth dose of Ciproxin had me starting to feel better this afternoon, but as I was scraping the frost and snow from Bluebell this morning, the plastic scraper broke and a piece smacked me hard in the right eye.
Mid morning my eye was bloodshot and painful so I asked our retired doctor who was on duty in the hospice to have a look at it.
He held my head under the glare of a fluorescent light in order to oversee the damage only to be interrupted by the unit housekeeper who immediately made 5 out of 2+2 and gasped an “ohh sorry,”  before bolting  out of the door in fits of giggles ....

Tonight I’ve just taken my fifth dose of antibiotics with a half litre of water and have given myself some eye drops and with the girls piled under my duvet, I’m in bed watching Giselle looking like Shrek
The Willis are just what the doctor ordered

  3. Ugh...my sympathy; I had the same problem and antibiotic in November. Keep drinking water, especially when you don't feel like it - it's much harder to stay hydrated when you can't nip into a public loo as easily, isn't it? Hope your eye feels better tomorrow. x

Hope you have access to AZO-gantrisin or the UK equivalent thereof as that makes having a UTI much more bearable.
Might you need to see an eye doctor for your eye injury?
Enjoy Giselle and your snuggle mates in the meantime.

    Get well hugs!

  9. Oh Lord. Doesn't it seem sometimes like nothing goes right? And yet, why do we think it should? Because humans are eternally optimistic. I hope you feel better soon from top to bottom.

  10. What a crappy way to bring 2020 to a close! Of course, it's fitting, in its own way, isn't it?

  13. Just when I thought things were getting better, this happens. Really, I do not know what to think. Plan something fun for the weekend and have a good time.

  14. Just a little reminder, if you are on a second round of antibiotics, don't forget to take probiotic tablet each day and eat yogurt to help protect yourself from c dif--though you probably know that already.

I hope your eye heals quickly.

    Take care.

  15. Good grief! I was thinking 'ugh! nothing is worse than a uti' until I read about your eye. To be honest that sounded worse. Heal soon.

  16. Oh no! Now you need to heal all over! At least you are nice and warm in bed. Feel better soon!

  17. Ughhhh! I hear you, can relate, glad that the antibiotics are kicking in. Has anyone dared say, "It's always fun 'til someone loses an eye?" But seriously, sorry you added more pain to your already suffering situation. Pet therapy. Take care. -Jenn

  18. Ouch! I'm glad the doctor doesn't think it needs further attention. I hope both ends clear up quickly. What a #%@^ of a year this has been!

  19. Oh Lordy! I do hope this is nothing more than 2020 having a final dig at you as a final valedictory gasp. Let the new year bring you comforts a-plenty.

  20. The older we get, the longer it seems to take things to heal/get better. It's quite annoying.

When it rains it pours, huh?
    Hope you feel better today...

  22. We don’t need any additions to the misery lately but life (and the usual ills) go on. Is the eye OK? What did she think was going on?!?

  23. A lady warned me once to beware of badgers at dusk as one tried to attack her quite large lurcher type dog.I hope your eye is less painful now.On Wednesday I trapped my thumb in the washing machine dispenser drawer somehow and it kept me awake throbbing that night-luckily yesterday it eased x

  27. I was trying to figure out why you would compare Giselle to Shrek. I came back to check in today, and suddenly understood what you were trying to say. Happy 2021 John. I am glad to have discovered your blog.
