This afternoon, I’m waiting for the post to arrive like a child would.
I’ve cleaned the back patio of the slime and the leaves, a product of rain every day for a month, and have walked the girls several miles .
Another nothing , lockdown day.
Dr Zhivago is on the tv
I had forgotten just how beautiful Omar Sharif was.
It’s a beautiful day here in St. Louis. Might have to take a drive later to look at decorations. The lights at A/B brewery are fabulous. Thanks for Omar. He was a gorgeous man.
ReplyDeletePatty
We are only allowed to go out for exercise
DeletePatty, I’m from Alton! We’re wintering in Florida though....enjoying the sunshine.
DeleteWhat’s sunshine?
DeleteOne of my favorite movies! Omar and those limpid eyes -- and paired with Julie Christie, surely two of the most beautiful people ever to grace the silver screen.
ReplyDeleteI was more mesmerised by his hair and his little boy haircut
DeleteWet day here, soggy and muddy. I have never seen Dr Zhivago. I like Julie Christie. Expecting something in the post?
ReplyDeleteJust cards, I love receiving them
DeleteYou'll have to show us your walls!
DeleteThey are full Debby....with yours too
Delete:) I was hoping that you'd have your wish to 'deck your walls' full up!
DeleteI’ve had more than I ever had, and I’m shallow enough to love the fact x
DeleteLockdown choices: Swoon over Omar or... keep writing the book... ? Happy Winter Solstice to you and all of your commenters.
ReplyDeleteI have written but just not today deArheart..
DeleteIt's his eyes...amazing eyes.
ReplyDeleteIn the unseen scene where the Cossacks kill the civilians in the snow all we see is Sharif’s face. David lean told him to imagine he was about to orgasm then stop ....that was the expression he wanted
DeleteI like his voice-You have a very sexy voice too John x
ReplyDeleteThank you flis and thank you fir the card and gift x
DeleteYeah he was! Im enjoying my last day , before I head home to the ancestral home to be with mother and aunt for some time.
ReplyDeleteBrace yourself x
DeleteGreat face, reminds me of someone,
ReplyDeleteWho’s that David...?
Deletehmmmm...i never thought about it before but he looks a bit like colin firth?
ReplyDeleteReally?
DeleteMy first thought too,
DeleteOh no
DeleteBeautiful man, beautiful film. Why didn't she just look around and see him at the end......fuck!
ReplyDeleteHay Gary !,,, lovely to hear from you x
DeleteBeen tooooo long, but a seriously difficult year
DeleteUnderstood.......my friend
DeleteI wanted to watch Dr Zhivago this afternoon but I was outvoted. One of my favourite films.
ReplyDeleteIt was worth it sue, I have never seen it all the way through before
DeleteLord, he was a beautiful man.
ReplyDeleteWasn’t he
DeleteOur postal system has also been hit by Covid 19. We no longer get mail every day. Which is something I fervently hope can be resumed later.
ReplyDeleteItS the highlight of my day, post time
DeleteTo quote Churchill, "Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference." Merry Christmas, John, and best wishes for a brighter New Year for us all.
ReplyDeleteAmen x
DeleteOmar ... what lovely eye candy!
ReplyDeleteHow can it be a nothing day when you've got Dr. Z on screen and are surrounded by the festive good wishes of friends on those wonderful Christmas cards? Oh, and where will you put the cards that arrive in the next 4 days?
Hugs!
More string loops in the kitchen x
DeleteOhh yes! The mail.
ReplyDeleteWe're having terrible mail service here. Hair Furor messed with the USPS to interfere with the elections and it's still in chaos.
Omar Sharif was super handsome.
XOXO
Ours has always been pretty good, sometimes bad tempered, but good
DeleteI saw the film as a kid, when it first came out. I've always remembered the splash of blood in the snow.
ReplyDeleteYes, lean chose the right shade ...it’s so often portrayed wrong on film
DeleteMy favorite movie ever!
ReplyDeleteMust watch again soon.
They were beautiful together but the ending was so sad.
Happy Christmas John, doggies and Albert.
I hope the weather improves for you soon, mud gets tiresome, boots get heavy - eating and drinking by the hearth perhaps helps.
I did enjoy it
DeleteLike watching a beautiful paining
"Bridging" the years! ;^/
ReplyDeleteI feel old

DeleteMy Mom had a jewelry box that played "Lara's Theme" when you opened it up. It was her favorite song and it came from that movie. You just made that memory return to me. Thanks, John.
ReplyDeleteMaurice Jarre’s music was sublime
DeleteMy favourite all time film.Something very special about it. However did not get to see OH not into it and I had stuff to do as usual. Glad you enjoyed x
ReplyDeleteThe colours of it .....
DeleteIndulged myself on it
ReplyDeleteWhat was you fav bit?
DeleteI had planned to watch this again but missed it - just managed to turn the TV on for the last 20 minutes when my granddaughter (19 months old) walked in and asked to watch Mr Tumble instead. Sorry Omar... maybe next time
ReplyDeleteAs a young man he WAS truly beautiful
DeleteIt seems a very wooden film now. Well, the first half hour. Couldn't bear it any longer when it was on a few weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteI see where you are coming from but as soon as visuals leave Moscow for the stunning country estates the film blossoms
DeleteWasn't he? I saw bit of this (my favourite film) when I sat down for a break this afternoon. I have it on DVD - I will indulge myself when we have moved to our new home. The music is still haunting me tonight.
ReplyDeleteLara’s theme

ReplyDelete...he had the dreamiest eyes ever.
ReplyDeleteSome one , many moons ago said that mine were
DeleteI’m sure he’s forgotten the compliment
DeleteI remember, as a child, watching him in Dr Zhivago and being completely taken by the depth of his eyes. Beautiful man.
ReplyDeleteIt seems his eyes have it
DeleteMy parents love that movie!!
ReplyDeleteIn both Dr. Zhivago and Lawrence of Arabia!
ReplyDeleteThe whole province goes into maximum lockdown at midnight Christmas - it's a north/south divide - the north for 14 days and the south for 28 days - or more!
All flights from the UK were supposed to have ended - only the ones enroute when the new rule went into effect were supposed to land but apparently two more arrived in Toronto this afternoon and people are freaked out!
A nice, calm few days would be lovely. Hope you get to enjoy some lovely films.
Oh, it's a lovely old-fashioned film with a lovely score. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteIt was also on TV about a month ago, when I watched it with no interruption, for first time in 30 years. Had completely forgotten that Ralph Richardson had had a major role in an equally starry cast.
ReplyDeleteFirst saw it on its release in 1965 when it was the cause of much dissension between me and my then girlfriend who refused to see it because EVERYBODY'S doing so and she wanted to be 'different'.
Interesting fact - in those cold-war days, it was filmed in Finland, Canada and Spain.
Julie Christie has been a 'looker' her entire life, and still is, though Sharif didn't push any buttons for me then or even looking back now.
But it is a remarkable film, a major one.
Oh, yes, Omar Sharif was dreamy. One of my early crushes.
ReplyDeleteGosh in that pic he looks very like a young Colin Firth!
ReplyDeleteOmar was gorgeous. He and Julie damn near set the movie screens on fire.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I first saw Dr Zhivago at a drive-in movie (US). Couldn't stop crying--to the consternation of my date.
ReplyDeleteIt has rained everyday for a month? Oh I would hate that.
ReplyDeleteYes, he was certainly beautiful. The whole film is lovely. The female stars, I've heard, refused to give up their 60's hair styles.

ReplyDeleteI'm here to testify about what DR. OYAGU did for me. I have been suffering from (GENITAL HERPES VIRUS) disease for the past 2 years and had constant pain and inching, especially in my private part. During the first year, I had faith in God that i would be cured someday. This disease started circulating all over my body and I have been taking treatment from my doctor, few weeks ago I came across a testimony of Shayla Bosschart on the internet testifying about a Man called DR. OYAGU on how he cured her from 7 years HSV 2. And she also gave the email address of this man, advise anybody to contact him for help on any kind of diseases that he would be of help, so I emailed him telling him about my (HSV 2) he told me not to worry that I was going to be cured!! Well, I never doubted him I have faith he can cure me too,, DR. OYAGU prepared and sent me Healing Soap, roots and herbs which I took. In the first one week, I started experiencing changes all over me, after two weeks of using his Roots/ Herbs, Oil and Soap, I was totally cured. no more inching , pain on me anymore as DR. OYAGU assured me. After some time I went to my doctor to do another test behold the result came out negative. So friends my advise is if you have such disease or know anyone who suffers from it or any other disease like HPV, HBV, HIV, ALS, HBP, CANCER etc. you can contact DR. OYAGU for help via email} oyaguherbalhome@gmail.com whatsaap him through his mobile} +2348101755322. , Thanks once again DR. OYAGU for making me a happy woman again.
