Say it loud and other minor thoughts

  • I haven’t much to share today, it’s grey and chilly
  • I wore shorts when out for a walk with the girls this morning even though it was cold. I have patches of  psoriasis on my knees which I defiantly show off from time to time.
  • I’m working nights until after Christmas, I’m cooking a shepherds pie ready for supper at work tonight
  • My nephew who is 18 and has Aspergers, has just got his first job, I just told him how proud I am of him and I think that’s so important..if you are proud say it loud ....my parents seldom praised me as a kid
  • I’ve bathed the dogs, Mary with her anti fungal. Winnie and Dorothy with pears baby shampoo and Winnie has had a rare once over with her fanny flannel....the cottage smells fragrant again
  • I’ve just missed an invitation for coffee by Chic Eleanor and with nights now will only be able catch up with next week, it will be refreshing to see her .
  • I had my first Christmas cards today one off Sue and the other from a ‘cold and dark Sweden’
  • I will leave you with this delightful impersonation of Miss Peggy Lee followed by a Christmas message from Fascinating Aida

People buy you CARS for Christmas? Wow you must be extremely loved by wealthy people and you've got your first two, how many cars are you expecting to get? What makes are they? I should think the Swedish one would be a Volvo, they're very popular over there. Nobody has ever bought me a car, I had to save up for one. I do get a lot of Christmas cards though.

  5. So pleased for your nephew. Well done him. I agree praise is so important. Also, I was never told 'I love you' and then it felt such an awkward thing to say, so, when I had my children I said it all the time. At 8 years old my son turned around as he was heading down the school yard and shouted 'Bye. Love you'. A mum next to me commented 'How lovely. I wish my son said that'. It made me stop and think that yes, yes it was lovely that he told me that so freely and unprompted.

  7. Praise is so needed. Each of us has strengths and limitations. Life tends to focus more on limits, than on strengths. By praising the strengths - we help people be the best they can be. Why did it take me so long in life to figure that out?

You're certainly been busy ahead of your work shift tonight but it it will be nice to come home to a tidy and fragrant cottage after work.
Your nephew is fortunate to have you for his uncle with your positive messages and encouragement. I hope he enjoys his new job!
It's sunny and unseasonably warm here. Laundry is in the washer and a trip to the curb-side pickup at the library will happen in a little while.

    Hugs!

  16. Oh well done for your nephew, so pleased for him. We have had our adult son living with us for a year, came back from London. He was just having a short breather, the. Covid struck! At 36 , he’s finding small village life a bit boring ! But he’s at least being housed fed and watered, and it’s lovely to have him home. But we read on eggshells at times. Hope you manage to get some time off over Christmas John ? Surely you’re not working every day ? Nothing nicer than sweet smelling doggies, ours is a mud fiend ! Christmas has begun to start here in rural Lancs, homemade sausage rolls have been made ! Xx

  18. You realize that to praise a child is to encourage a journey of life.
Never being praised as a child or adult by your family is not very good for you.
So praise any child that you can to help them on their journey in life. It only take a moment of your time to last a lifetime for them.

Quickly reading through l got very excited as l thought that I'd read about my fav 'Miss Piggy' (not Peggy) anyway, but have you noticed how many young females seem to go for her look, Miss Piggy that is. Plumped up lips, false eyelashes, false boobs, even work on their cheeks, both types that is.Ja fink they go to the cosmetic surgeon clutching a pic, saying that's the look l want!
Praise is good at any age, l could sulk for England if my culinary efforts are not rewarded with praise!
Keep warm, shorts brrr! Tess xx
