Violas are such cheerful and robust little fellows
Unlike the fat headed pansies that resemble them .. I detest those
I’ve planted them out in pots around cyclamen of varying shades of pink and red and have placed them on the kitchen wall with enough gaps in between so that the regular gifts of tomato’s and the like can be left with ease.
Lunch out with friends and Chic Eleanor tomorrow
Tonight already I’m lighting the fire against the already crisp autumn evening as I watch the live action Beauty and the beast on tv
Tonight I’ve been watching Carrie Fisher give tribute speeches on YouTube
What a wonderful orator she was
I became quite tearful at her power and intelligence
Tearful because I’m tired
I am watching Beauty and the Beast as well, in sunny but nippy shropshire, a lovely story.

ReplyDeletePatty

ReplyDeleteViolas also self seed, as well as being bright and cheery.
ReplyDeleteAlmost frosty nights here. Trying to resist putting the heating on!
Angela Lansbury is now 95 years old. Assuming that clip you showed us is from this year, she's still got it.
ReplyDeleteShe looks old but still has it
DeleteMy best friend john saw her recently in the west end and said she dominated the stage
fall found us here today. i'm about to build fire. summer is back next week though.
ReplyDeleteI had some that flowered the following year in a hanging basket by my back door.By the way John though I have still to light mine I had my chimney swept this week in preparation x
ReplyDeleteWhy would you detest pansies (if I interpret the typo "th3mandwhch" correctly) when you say they resemble a flower you like? Just curious. Simply because they have "fat heads"?
ReplyDeleteTypo fixed I see (just noting to help make sense of my comment)
DeleteI find them untidy and unattractive flowers
Delete...but John....
DeleteI know I know
DeleteSleep well, and have a restful day tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI love violets, too, but let them get a toe-hold in the garden and they will take over!
Those are beautiful violas! We have a nice weekend here with perfect weather to enjoy. I love the Fall.
ReplyDeleteMethinks I'll get some viola seeds as I love self-seeding flowers and these are so pretty. I like pansies, too, but they are annuals and my ability to tend the garden is very limited. We do have some sweet violets and I don't care where they spread - they're lovely!
ReplyDeleteSweet dreams!
Hugs!
I am enjoying the crisp autumn evening. I'm hoping to use the fireplace tonight.
ReplyDeleteWe call those Johnny Jump Ups. I love them too
ReplyDeleteTurned on the heater this morning. It was 28 degrees F here in northern Vermont when I got up to snd off the spouse. As it cycled up I found muself putting on all the items I've been able to skip all summer- socks, leggings, sweater, and arm warmers...
ReplyDeleteYou probably know another name for them is heartsease. I always find them comforting.
ReplyDeleteAngela Lansbury has become a national treasure; what an amazing career she's had. Never put a foot wrong!
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with fat pansies :)
ReplyDeleteI love violas too John and plonk them in any spacwe this time of the year.
ReplyDeleteHow surprising that you are not fond of pansies.
ReplyDeleteTrust u
DeleteRelax and rest, the extra night will make the next Ikea adventure more fun.
ReplyDeleteI am a viola fan also. They are a gift that keeps giving. Next spring I will see them again in all parts of my gardens where there seeds have blown.
ReplyDeleteThose violas are beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
