Yesterday........
Was
Lunch with a friend who is having a bad time.
Mary’s vet visit and steroid treatment for her bad ear,
A troll who irritatedly took my time
A heavy heart at work tomorrow when I’m not quite ready for it
But at dusk
I stood in the garden and realised that the climbing rose around the door had bloomed again
And everything was well

Sometimes it is the small things that mend and make us smile. And may that troll do no more harm. Angela, Australia
ReplyDeleteMay you walk in beauty and find the good everywhere.
ReplyDeleteYou paint a pretty picture John, yes those beautiful Roses are a good antidote for a heavy heart.
ReplyDeleteYour home looks so welcoming with the light leading the way and sunflowers on the window sill.
Enjoy your day, it's goin on 11 pm here and it's still the 15th.
cheers Margo
Your home is beautiful x
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear it. The 'little things' are huge in my world.
ReplyDeleteAnd then . . .
ReplyDeleteI say
“It’s the little things”
that turn me around and get me going again.
Beautiful doorway.
A quiet corner in a contented full and meaningful life. Trolls eat your heart out.

A Rose can be a great comfort; I just noticed two new blooms on a recent purchase.
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous little photo of home :-)
ReplyDeleteDon't let the trolls get to you, this one seemed so genuine at first, just another sad b*stard!!
You're right; we're alive and the roses are a gift reminding us that all things pass and everything is well.
ReplyDeleteOver the last few years we've planted a new rose every autumn. This year it is to be a pale pink climbing rose against the garden shed - something to look forward to next year. Gardens always give hope.
ReplyDeleteOh I like that...hope you don't mind but am going to borrow that idea for my garden, thank you.
DeleteI am having a rough time at the moment (lots of weavils John, you'll know what I mean!), but it is the little things that are keeping me going. Your photo is lovely, so peaceful and inviting.
ReplyDeleteInteresting how the saddo misery of these pathetic trolls sits in your head - the unfairness and cowardice of being targeted like that. It says a lot for their squalid unimportant self importance that something as simple and heartfelt as roses round the door banished their pall. And breathe.....
ReplyDeleteI would like that photo blown up large on my wall John - a picture is worth a thousand words.

Between the flower pots and the door...looks like three bricks stacked. A place for milk bottles in time passed?
ReplyDeleteNo it’s where John hides his front door key?

I thought it was a resting place for lost Scotch Eggs...
DeleteLost! With John around?
DeleteGood point!
DeleteIsn't it wondrous that little things like the blooming of roses can do to change your outlook?
ReplyDeleteGrowing up I use to think that the big grandiose things mattered. As the gray around my temples begin to show, it's the little things that matter and can completely turn my whole day around!!
John, this picture is like you, I think - character, color, solidness - hope and making the best life. I agree with Weaver - blown up and on the wall, this would make a lovely art piece! Thanks for today's pretty. Remember, there are more of us who adore you, than there are the trolls. And karma is a Bi**ch!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the carved bird in the window and the brick header above it.
ReplyDeletevery welcoming!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you can always find something to warm your heart just a bit (and you have so much). Sorry about the other sorrows and stressor in life. I wish there were a way to ban that troll.
ReplyDeleteOnward, you are needed,
ReplyDeleteThe rose bush is beautiful! Always look on the bright side of life.
ReplyDeleteThe cottage looks lovely. Keep looking on the bright side.
ReplyDeleteCheers

ReplyDeletea welcome sight to a cozy cottage.
ReplyDeleteA 'second flush' of blooms always lifts the spirits. Have a great day, John.
ReplyDeleteGardens lift the spirits & we are privileged to have one. Such a welcoming entrance John ..... you have a talent for homemaking. XXXX
ReplyDeleteThat feeling of "everything is well" - there is nothing better. After being evacuated from my home for a week due to encroaching wildfires, I'm back home and it's a joy to return to my routine of reading your blog first thing in the morning. Everything is well.

Glad you are safe Mimi.

Your cottage looks so warm and welcoming.
ReplyDeleteMy friend has a sign on the wall as you go into her home that says, “Welcome, Enter With A Happy Heart.” That is what you are saying with that lovely entrance.
ReplyDeleteLovely, as is all of your home and garden!
ReplyDeleteDon't you wonder who decided to put the brick arch over your window so very long ago? Was it a structural necessity or a design element (not that the builders called it that) or both?!
Here is a third vote you frame this charming photo.
Hugs!
The brick lintel is required to support the bricks above when the opening is made. The lintels would be made architectually attractive depending on the builder, but they are definitely required to sustain the structure of the building. How many identities do you have Barbara Anne? I am interested to know as you do not have a blog.
DeleteWhat a beautiful entranceway you have!
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmmmmm......no, get mind out of gutter!
DeleteI hope that pretty lamp is wired to cone on by itself as night descends, making a 'welcome home' for you to return to after work or an evening out.

Nothing like a little garden beauty to help get some perspective!
ReplyDeleteA rose satisfies and lifts the heart with many senses, sight, smell, touch...
ReplyDeleteJust delete the trolls!

ReplyDelete"Roses Around the Door" sounds like a Mills & Boon novel.
ReplyDeleteBLURB: When Joyce Trellis spotted the rough Yorkshire visitor pulling into the car park of "The Crown", her heart skipped a beat. She had been waiting for him all her life or so it seemed...
Walking through such a doorway into your beautiful cottage one would certainly feel home. Everything around you is beautifully thought out and in place. It's totally a picture. Even though I don't do envy usually I have pangs of it comparing my entrance way to yours. Sow's ear to a silk purse comes to mind.

so tranquil...you have done a splendid job making your cottage into a home for you and the furballs. impressive.

Your climbing rose is beautiful. The rose frames your entryway nicely.
ReplyDeleteYour rose looks beautiful. I miss my garden at the farm 60 years of making. It's not quite the same at 80 in a rental.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful photo....

ReplyDeleteI frequently get cold sores(which lasts for 5-6 days on my lips and its painful both physically and mentally) .. As a bodybuilder, I basically get outbreak due to the daily pressure and heat in the body.. Recently I stumbled upon my salvation. I found a herbal remedy to cure hsv completely, in just 4weeks ..
I got to know about Dr Utu after seeing a lady's testimony online. I reached the doctor and I ordered for herpes herbal medicine. He sent the herbs to me and I started making use of them. In just 2days, the cold sores are cleared. 4weeks after medication, I went to the hospital for test of cold sores and it was completely NEGATIVE.
By following every prescription, i was able to cure my cold sore in less than 4weeks. 100% natural herbs no after effect.
Note: Please do let others know if this work for you.
