Roses Around The Door

Yesterday........
Was
Lunch with a friend who is having a bad time.
Mary’s vet visit and steroid treatment for her bad ear,
A troll who irritatedly took my time
A heavy heart at work tomorrow when I’m not quite ready for it
But at dusk
I stood in the garden and realised that the climbing rose around the door had bloomed again
And everything was well

  11. Over the last few years we've planted a new rose every autumn. This year it is to be a pale pink climbing rose against the garden shed - something to look forward to next year. Gardens always give hope.

I am having a rough time at the moment (lots of weavils John, you'll know what I mean!), but it is the little things that are keeping me going. Your photo is lovely, so peaceful and inviting.

Interesting how the saddo misery of these pathetic trolls sits in your head - the unfairness and cowardice of being targeted like that. It says a lot for their squalid unimportant self importance that something as simple and heartfelt as roses round the door banished their pall. And breathe.....

  17. Isn't it wondrous that little things like the blooming of roses can do to change your outlook?
Growing up I use to think that the big grandiose things mattered. As the gray around my temples begin to show, it's the little things that matter and can completely turn my whole day around!!

  18. John, this picture is like you, I think - character, color, solidness - hope and making the best life. I agree with Weaver - blown up and on the wall, this would make a lovely art piece! Thanks for today's pretty. Remember, there are more of us who adore you, than there are the trolls. And karma is a Bi**ch!!!! :)

That feeling of "everything is well" - there is nothing better. After being evacuated from my home for a week due to encroaching wildfires, I'm back home and it's a joy to return to my routine of reading your blog first thing in the morning. Everything is well.

Lovely, as is all of your home and garden!
Don't you wonder who decided to put the brick arch over your window so very long ago? Was it a structural necessity or a design element (not that the builders called it that) or both?!
Here is a third vote you frame this charming photo.

    Hugs!

    1. The brick lintel is required to support the bricks above when the opening is made. The lintels would be made architectually attractive depending on the builder, but they are definitely required to sustain the structure of the building. How many identities do you have Barbara Anne? I am interested to know as you do not have a blog.

  42. "Roses Around the Door" sounds like a Mills & Boon novel.

BLURB: When Joyce Trellis spotted the rough Yorkshire visitor pulling into the car park of "The Crown", her heart skipped a beat. She had been waiting for him all her life or so it seemed...

  43. Walking through such a doorway into your beautiful cottage one would certainly feel home. Everything around you is beautifully thought out and in place. It's totally a picture. Even though I don't do envy usually I have pangs of it comparing my entrance way to yours. Sow's ear to a silk purse comes to mind.

  48. First, I want to complement this site administrator for creating this platform for us to express our feelings

I frequently get cold sores(which lasts for 5-6 days on my lips and its painful both physically and mentally) .. As a bodybuilder, I basically get outbreak due to the daily pressure and heat in the body.. Recently I stumbled upon my salvation. I found a herbal remedy to cure hsv completely, in just 4weeks ..

I got to know about Dr Utu after seeing a lady's testimony online. I reached the doctor and I ordered for herpes herbal medicine. He sent the herbs to me and I started making use of them. In just 2days, the cold sores are cleared. 4weeks after medication, I went to the hospital for test of cold sores and it was completely NEGATIVE.

By following every prescription, i was able to cure my cold sore in less than 4weeks. 100% natural herbs no after effect.
Note: Please do let others know if this work for you.
    The doctor's email is drutuherbalcure@gmail.com
Note : follow all instructions accordingly..

If you are sure that you have benefited from this African herbs be courageous to inform others.
    Thanks in advance
