To Hand

I'm writing this on my phone.
My old ipad died yesterday, but thanks to Amazon my new one will be here sometime today.
I love Amazon
I've always had good service  from them
I hope they let their workers go to the loo when they want to
According to the tracker, the pad will be with me before 8 pm...
Stalin was a looker when he was a young man
Wasnt he?
Twitter has just shown me a photo over my bucket of coffee.
Chic Eleanor has texted too. She wants to reschedule coffee
"Oh Darling john !!" The text apologised " it's a no no I'm afraid!!"
My energy supplier has emailed me wanting to sell me a new meter too.
Social media...I need a PA to deal with it all
The tax office gateway messaged me too telling me they owe me a rebate
The tax office like Amazon has been right on the money
What's App have stacked a few messages for me to read. A catch up date with friend Nigel. Another with Colin and I'm waiting to sort out Sheffield.
Nu looked hot and bothered during her video call. Its 34 degrees in london
The radio is playing through another app
Oh and there is Stalin again on twitter
He was a bit of a looker!

  1. Wow! I would have. Spike Milligan's mother used to carry a photo of baby Hitler in her bag. People used to coo over it until they found out who it was.

  2. If I hadn't known whose was that photo-portrait I'd have definitely categorised him as 'handsome'. However, even if he WAS then, I don't wish to think about that quality being applied to the later monster-beyond-description.
Don't recall ever seeing a photo of the young Adolf, and I'm certainly only mildly curious now in the light of this particular unsavoury revelation.

    1. There are photos of Adolf as an infant. He was some cute. How do these people turn into monsters.

    2. Just like Donald Trump ... the father and mother turned him into an unfeeling, heartless, soulless monster! Will be so glad to be rid of him!

  3. I don't think Amazon bashers realise just how many small companies use Amazon as a conduit for sales, providing a huge customer base that they could never hope to reach on their own. I'm particularly keen on the second-hand books. Those of us in rural areas would be lost without Amazon now.

  4. He certainly was a looker! I always think that Osama Bin Laden had a gentle peaceful face with kind eyes. The old adage about books and covers applies here, I think...

  6. Young Stalin always reminds me of a DJ (Erol Alkan) I knew in the early days of his career, when I used to lug a selection of my record collection up to the "VIP area" in the top floor of the Camden Palace & "assist & advise" on his DJ sets for the Britpop cogniscenti of a Tuesday night - which basically meant me being in charge of the decks from 11pm until closing time.

When I worked in the area, I also sometimes ate in the restaurant (Tayyabs - home of the world's hottest korma) next to the hostel in Fieldgate Street, Whitechapel, that Stalin stayed in during his time in London.

    4. I meant he was a man attractive to women. He had many female admirers in the Kremlin. I didn't think that had been mentioned.

  10. Oh gosh he really was wasn't he ... what a waste!!

Amazon Prime and the Firestick is brilliant too, I have hundreds of films and boxed sets at my finger tips, YouTube on the tv and Alexa to talk to. And when I go mad and order stuff, before I know it it's there on the doorstep after 3 warnings of it's imminent arrival. I do so hope the new tv adverts are showing it as it is and it isn't as it was.

Love todays wiffley, waffley post :-)

  11. The Amazon is one of my favourite rivers too - but not quite as nice as The River Hull or Sheffield's own River Porter.

  14. I try to avoid social media. The only thing I find worthwhile is Instgram. I don't post anything, I just look at the hot models :).

And what happened to your old iPad? Mine's old as dirt and it still works. Won't update anymore, so I'm afraid I'll need a replacement soon....

    XOXO

  20. 1) "The tax office gateway messaged me too telling me they owe me a rebate". Beware of scams. I am not saying this is one but there are many scams around based on claiming to come from HMRC and saying they owe you money. The real tax people at Government Gateway are very good and efficient though, I agree; just so long as we don't try to diddle them out of taxes. 2) Maybe it is different in Wales but here in Scotland meters are upgraded for free, they don't "sell" you a new one. 3) Beware good looking men - they may turn out to be monsters. 4) Apart from all the above, have a lovely day.

  22. He was very dishy-my preference look when young(apart from one blonde who looked at the time similar to the Sweet lead singer)One who I met on a date several times during the evening fiddled with his pockets and revealed a small picture of Itola Homini-his idol who only ate bread cheese and drank water apparently x

  23. So was Che as a young man in Argentina. Although he's kind of a cult figure. Ted Bundy was a handsome man, and killed over a dozen women.

  25. He was a hunka hunka. Fantastic hair for a murdering maniac.

I have a conflicted relationship with Amazon. It is a great service but I am NOT a Bezos fan. I cannot understand how one of the richest men in the Effing world can't work living wages into his business model. I feel like a hypocrite everytime I order, and yet, OHHHH IT'LL BE HERE TOMORROW, gets me every time. ~sigh~ Ah well.

  26. I used to love Amazon, until they wanted to charge me $10 for a bottle of isopropyl alcohol. Got it on Walmart.com instead for $3. (Okay, I sill like Amazon, just not quite as much.)

  28. Stalin - beauty of a BEAST

  29. That's STALIN?! Good Lord. He could have been a model, and deprived of that career choice, he instead became a bloodthirsty dictator. Maybe he was angry he wasn't on a runway or in a photo shoot.

Too bad Stalin (and Ben Ladin, the Cheeto man, ...) chose to be utterly evil.

I always use Amazon Smile so my purchases contribute to worthy causes like Habitat for Humanity, Doctors Without Borders, The Heifer Project, etc, and it costs me nothing more. Everyone should do this!

Hope the London temperatures cool off before Nu and others melt. Our temperatures are oddly cool as August is usually hot in Virginia.

    Hugs!

  36. Well, you know the sayings, you can’t judge a book by its cover and beauty is only skin-deep. Perhaps be wary of the good-lookers as their appearance may be disarming as I think of Stalin, Hitler and Trump when he was young.

  37. You love amazon so you don't actually want to think about the way it treats its workers!?!?

    1. I was always ambivalent about Amazon when a few years ago I heard that they treated their workers badly. Apparantly that is not the case now, until you can tell me otherwise

Do Amazon break employment law Martine? If not, any problem you have with them is surely with the law, not really with Amazon. Companies exist to sell a service and they live or die by how well they do it, or not; and employees choose who they work for. When I had a dreadful job for a nasty employer, I left.
