Elizabeth Taylor hated anonymous trolls too
I am not a vain man
But I have noticed that I'm much greyer than I once realised
This has happened overnight ( or so I thought )
Less salt and pepper around my hamster ears
More Helen Mirren or Judi Dench
I'm nearing 60 in a couple of years
And I'm shocked to see that I've turned into my father..he was 7 years older when he died !!
Photograph taken during The Relair Shop tonight...which is a right sob fest
Winnie's bolster cushion
I am meeting up with Gorgeous Dave .
A pint and a chat , in my first pub visit and meet with him since March
good dogs resting. I bet winnie has fun kicking the new cushion about the cottage. and look at those GORGEOUS blue eyes, squire!
ReplyDeleteObviously that cushion has now completely been claimed by the dogs as their own.
ReplyDeleteI can see why Winnie loves her new bolster cushion!
ReplyDeleteAre you considering some hair dye?
No!
DeleteFirsts all around. First for me of a friend inside. Almost forgotten how to gossip.
ReplyDeleteYou have earned every silver thread, wear them proudly
ReplyDeleteGood ole Liz ... never short of words! Spoken or otherwise!
ReplyDeleteIn August I will be 77 and you have more grey hair then I do. I am still as brunette as ever ... no dye for me and only a few white wisps in my sideburn hairs and I keep those cut short!
Looks like Dotty might like that bolster pillow, too!
Ahh, Winnie and "her" cushion. Mary appears to be enjoying your TV program. Don't worry about the grey, on men it looks distinguished!
ReplyDeleteYour bolster looks edible.
ReplyDeleteI have an erection just looking at it
DeleteBloody hell
DeleteI was talking about edible things, and he says that. Strange times.
DeleteIt is a shock to be putting on my coat and see my mother's hand come out the sleeve!
ReplyDeleteI knew Taylor was short, but had no idea she was tiny.
ReplyDeleteGeorge Clooney went grey...or you could color it a bit at home?
ReplyDeleteI am sometimes shocked to see my mom's face in the mirror. Later in life she always looked worried, I guess Covi has taken its toll on me.
love
lizzy
*Covid*
DeleteI like grey hair as long as you keep it conditioned nicely-I look more like my grandma now than my mum-she was 56 and grandma 67-I think it amusing to see her in the mirror-just keep well moistured I think is the answer-don't want to dry up x
ReplyDeleteYet another crude innuendo. You may think it's clever but it's schoolboy childishness.
DeleteGrow up.
Who are you anon to challenge someone without the benefit of a name
DeleteLook within yourself anon x
DeleteDon't worry flis anon, the resident troll is just trying to spoil things
DeleteThanks for letting us know that the 'Repair Shop' is still being filmed. We really like it. Have a great time out.
ReplyDeleteAnd I am turning into my mother! Luckily she was very attractive and still is at age 90. I can still get there if I take the time and effort which these past months I have not. I find that exercise (mostly walking) is what helps the most.
ReplyDeleteThe great thing is that you have hair!!! Love the picture of the dogs on the sofa!
ReplyDeleteI always had blond hair, natural until I was in my twenties, then I wanted to go a little lighter blonde, plus the sun always kept it blondish. All of a sudden through this spring and summer it has turned really dark because due to some issues with my knee replacement I wasn't able to stand in the shower long enough to rinse the hair coloring/bleach out like I always had, I also have not been out in the sun enough to brighten it up like always. The other day I could barely believe how dark it has now become, a very few silver strands mixed in, and totally white hair in the under layer at my temples, so it is easy to hide with the other hair. My hair seems to be coming in darker and darker. My bangs always grow faster than my other hair and they are really dark brown. I think it is too dark to bleach blonde again if I ever want to. It always surprises me to see it in the mirror, since I was always a blond.
ReplyDeleteCozy, snuggled in dogs - sweet. I can see why Winnie loves her new bolster cushion and it was so kind of you to purchase it for her. :)
ReplyDeleteAs for getting grayer, as Michael just said, be glad you have it! Fret not. I've recently turned 69 and thought I'd be taller by now. Sigh.
Enjoy your time with Gorgeous Dave tomorrow and will hope your work shift isn't too tiring for you.
Hugs!
'...thought I'd be taller by now. Sigh.'
DeleteBarbara Anne, this made me laugh!
A pleasant scene at your cottage, John the Dogs! They do look cozy on the sofa.
ReplyDeleteI'm only a couple of years older than you and I have waayyy more gray/white hair. You'll look good no matter what color it is.
I hope we get the next series of the Repair Shop over here soon. I've watched the first two series a couple of times through. It's a fave.
Cheers! E
A pair of gorgeous together then tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks silver in the picture. Mine is turning that lovely silver of Christmas tinsel on a tree. I am tickled so far with it.
Single strands at a time, except for the ,what my niece calls, sidebrows. The hair in front of your ears.
DeleteI miss my mom so its good to see her in the mirror now and then. Gray hair i csm live with. But now i have jowls too. Im not yet 60 but have outlived my very dear friends. Growing old is a priviledge not given to all.
ReplyDeleteI gave up worrying yonks ago. Grey is the new Mouse.
ReplyDeleteNah, you're just turning into Russell Crowe. But you behave better...
ReplyDeleteI hear that Russell Crowe was looking in the mirror recently and screamed "Bloody hell I am turning into John Gray, my looks are shot!..."
DeleteOoouch
DeleteAlthough me beard started going grey before I was 50 [turning 74 in Oct - yikes!], that on top - mostly back and sides now, very sparse on crown - has remained as resolutely dark brown as it's always been. Funny dat, innit?
ReplyDeleteEmbrace the silver-wisdom John! Over here, Lockdown meant no hairdressers for a couple of months, so my grey really started to show. I've not had it fixed and I'm waiting to see whether I can cope with a full head of grey... I'm not convinced. I've noticed a lot of women over here have done the same - it will severely impact hairdressers' profits - it's about £75... time about 8 per year... = £320... per customer.
ReplyDeleteI like your reference to "hamster ears"! They are rather small and mine are similar. Just off to store some dry muesli in my cheeks!
ReplyDeleteP.S. You could always dye your hair ginger.
Silver fox! I'm trying to embrace my greys too. It does make me snigger all the readers suggesting you dye it. It's not really a Welsh chaps thing is it,?
ReplyDeleteAbout 20 years ago, I was walking by a shop window and saw my reflection. I saw my father. It shocked me. Then visited a still sharp great aunt who was 98 years old. She gasped when I walked in and said she thought I was my father... and thought “well, the mind is finally gone.” I’m 6 years older than he was when he died. So I look like myself now.
ReplyDeleteWe all seem to turn into our parents eventually it seems. I just wish I was not so much like my mother.
ReplyDeleteLove the gray!
ReplyDeleteI like salt and pepper but silver foxes can get it. Really.
And Liz was fantastic.
XOXO
If your dad died at 75, the equivalent today with increasing longevity would be more like 80 or 85. My dad died at 70 and I'm now a fit and healthy 73.
ReplyDeleteMy dad went grey in his fifties, but I haven't yet gone grey! Go figure.
My dad died at 65 lol
DeleteJust realised I miscalculated! So 65 would be more like 70 or 75 nowadays. Or even older.
DeleteI can still remember the first time I looked in the mirror and my Mum was looking back - scary! Mind you I can remember my uncle turning 22 and thinking "It must be awful to be that OLD!" Grey hair shows you've lived and loved. That's what I tell myself anyway! xx
ReplyDeleteAbout my grey hair I tell my kids I've earned every one of them!
ReplyDeleteWouldn't worry. SiL is 41 and has more gray than you, as does one of my sons and he's only 45. So you really aren't doing so badly. :)
ReplyDeleteBecause of my poor vision, i read that as "I am gayer than i thought."

DeleteYes I noticed myself turning into my father a few years back. It is a shock to the system.
ReplyDeleteThe dogs look so content together, I can see why Winnie took a shine to the new pillow. As for the grey hair I think it looks quite distinguished, when I look in the miror I see my dad not a good look for a 76 year old woman.

DeleteI look just like my Dad... which is concerning as a 58 year old female. He was always very distinguished but these days he's very very worn out due to bad health, poor love.
ReplyDeleteJo in Auckland
That Liz Taylor picture is awesome. Winnie loves her pillow, we can tell! The good thing about having virtually no hair is I don't have to watch it go progressively grayer.

DeleteMy mother now lives in my bathroom mirror, I don't know how she got there, but I talk to her every morning ... God she's a grumpy cow!!
ReplyDeletehello, are you interested in getting an ex back?
