Yesterday it was Chic Eleanor's birthday.
I took some Marks and Spencer flowers up to the big house but it looked deserted and so I messaged her and as I suspected she answered as she sipped coffee overlooking Lake Como alongside her sister, presumably both of them in matching pashminas
I photographed her flowers and sent her the photo
" Exquisite Darling John " she texted back
Even Chic Eleanor's texts are delightfully upbeat.
We arranged to meet for gin and tonics in a week's time
I braved TK Maxx and bought a bolster cushion, a pizza wheel and a trendy t shirt.
Winnie kicked the cushion around the living room and seemed quietly delighted that it rolled well
She played with it for at least half an hour.
No other news today
My little dog always kicks the cushions on the floor, what is it with dogs and cushions? Heather
ReplyDeleteI often think I've been burgled on a daily basis
DeleteThat made me snicker for a good while and you should see the grin on my face yet.
DeleteThe flowers really are exquisite and Ii loved hearing that Winnie played for a half hour. The old girl is still having fun
ReplyDeleteShe loves kicking cushions, always have
DeleteWhat a good idea to send her a photo of the flowers, I imagine you then kept them for yourself!
ReplyDeleteOf course they are gracing my living room
DeleteMy schnauzer throws all the cushions on the floor in the back room if given half a chance to be in there on his own! Hope you are now enjoying the flowers?
ReplyDeleteMy husband met George Clooney and Brad Pitt on a golf course near Lake Como...he had no idea who they were at the time...long story! (Lucky Eleanor...it is a beautiful lake )
My my my my my.
DeleteMy little rescue dogs love to sleep underneath the pillows n the bed. Last week we had a 3am panic as Bertie got himself stuck inside the pillow case. Not easy t do! Gorgeous flowers!
ReplyDeleteMary does the same liz
DeleteYellow roses 'shine'.
ReplyDeleteIf you’d known she was at Lake Como, you could have taken the photograph in M&S and saved yourself a few bob 🤣🤣🤣 ..... Happy Birthday Chic Eleanor. XXXX
ReplyDeleteA brilliant reply!
DeleteMaybe he did ;) The dogs are sworn to secrecy. Winnie was bribed after all. :)
DeleteHaha ... brilliant :-)
DeleteSo I can now add 'cushions' as well as Scotch eggs to your list of addictions can I?
ReplyDeleteWalking dead t shirts, trendy cooking pots, nice mugs,
DeleteI could go on
Beautiful roses. What a good idea to send a photo and then keep them yourself. It's the thought that counts and they won't be wasted.
ReplyDeleteAs Eleanor was away I trust you gave the M&S flowers to the village's unsung heroine and most worthy recipient - the one and only Mrs Joyce Trellis.
ReplyDeletelol Mrs Trellis is never known with her first name in her title
DeleteJust with the enigmatic Mrs Trellis
The flowers ARE exquisite, darling John. I love yellow roses. It's nice that you were still able to share them with her.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear Winnie is having fun. Definitely life in the old dog yet, hope for us all.
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear of Winnies delightful activity!
ReplyDeleteLove the flowers!
ReplyDeleteNice idea taking a pic. Just in case. Remembering people's special dates is always super nice.
XOXO
Wonderful flowers, darling. Good to hear Winnie is enjoying new toys.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see a video of winnie kicking the cushion!
ReplyDeleteI've got one of her kicking a goose egg
Deleteoooooh, do share!
DeleteIs it a good idea to proclaim to the world that Eleanor's on holiday and her house is empty and deserted? It's not as if we don't know where you live!
ReplyDeleteThe servants are still there/armed.
DeleteHer sons live at home smart arse
DeleteOh FFS :-(
DeleteI really don't think we are the type who would read John's blog-then race over to the village from various parts of the UK And around the World to shin up a drainpipe x
DeleteAnother arsehole comment from anon
DeleteDamn, and there was me heading to raid Chic Eleanor's house. Thank goodness I checked the blog at Tebay Services so was able to turn back (until next time John says he has a 12 hour shift next day and I'll arrive armed with sausage rolls to quieten the dogs while I steal all of his.... oh... he has nothing I want. Damn again.)
DeleteI have an impressive bottom drawer
DeleteOoo-Is that what you call it John!x
DeletePlease be assured that your bottom drawer is of no interest to me, in fact you could leave it unlocked and open and I would disdain to even look.
DeleteHow trendy?
ReplyDeleteV E R Y
Deleteok, so we saw a picture of the fish cushion (shudder), so where is a picture of the bolster cushion? No need for a picture if it matches the fish one in any way. lol
ReplyDeleteI will drop it into the next blog just for you lee xxx
DeleteThose flowers are beautiful. We just need a picture of the cushion now. I always forget about TK Maxx may well have to pay a visit whilst im off this week.
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely flowers and a beautiful thought to get them for Chic Eleanor! Good idea to send her the picture of them, too.
ReplyDeleteIt was good to read that Winnie has had a good frolic with the new cushion to welcome it to your cottage properly. Will we get to see the cushion and your new t-shirt?
Hugs!
No photo of your new trendy t-shirt?
ReplyDeleteI'm wearing it on mynext date
DeleteI suspected as much!!!
DeleteWinnie clearly thinks the cushion is a dog toy! I never think to use the word "exquisite," but then, I'm not very chic.
ReplyDeleteThat's why Chic Eleanor is called chic
DeleteThose are gorgeous flowers! Yellow roses were my mother's favorite. How nice you could make Winnie's day with a new cushion.
ReplyDeleteSipping coffee by Lake Como - lucky Eleanor! Glimpsed once from a train window in 1982...Trendy t shirt?
ReplyDeleteVery , it's for my next date P
DeleteOh gosh lucky Chic Eleanor ... THAT'S the right way to spend any birthday.
ReplyDeleteAnd what a good idea to text her a photo of the flowers, and now you can enjoy them too. Knowing M&S flowers they might even last until her return ... but you won't want to part with them by then :-)
I had a roses from M & S that looked beautiful for 2 weeks during August x
ReplyDeleteA 'happy little post'! Good timing ... thanks, John.
ReplyDeleteThank you all except anon
ReplyDeleteThis just makes me happy. As does the one above it; Winnie using her bolster.
ReplyDeleteLovely cheerful bouquet John. Glad that Winnie is in good spirits.
