It's ten pm and I'm off to bed soon. I'm working tomorrow,
the dog walker and Trendy Carol are on hand tomorrow !!
The steroids and other meds kicked in and Winnie rallied again this afternoon
She's had more comebacks than Lazarus
I have a feeling it will be her last.
At 8 pm she finished a second small bowl of chicken and rice and peed like a horse on my lovely new garden lawn.
She then climbed heavily onto the couch and promptly fell asleep with a sharp fart
But not before she shlepped over to me in my armchair
Where she stood , and raised her head for a kiss goodnight
These dogs tear my heart
You are pure darling John. There is no other word for it. x
ReplyDeleteOh, poor Winnie, and poor you. Will be watching for updates but a bit scared of what you will say next.
ReplyDeleteI send her a hug from the sunny part of the world.
ReplyDeletethis is killing me too. i named my winnie after yours.
ReplyDeleteI hope both you and Winnie sleep well. She's a sweetie and you're a wonderful doggie daddy. Every bit of extra time together is a bit of grace.
ReplyDeleteHoping for even better news in the morning.
Hugs!
Just love that dog. All them dogs and Albert. And you.
ReplyDeleteShe’s tearing my heart too, stay strong Winnie (and you too John) xx
ReplyDeleteOh, Winnie girl. I love Winnie. It's so hard with pets. They will be the death of us all, anyone who loves a pet knows what you are going through. Sending you love, John. And sending love to Winnie as well.
ReplyDeleteYou are all family! Dear Winnie. Be well, John.
ReplyDeleteIf it is Winnie's time to scamper across that Rainbow Bridge ... so be it! Hopefully ... easily in her sleep. Until that happens, we shall all be rooting for the old girl and for you to bear with it for as long as she keeps doing her Lazarus bit!
ReplyDeleteIt will be soon Marcia...it will be soon
DeleteðŸ˜There will be tears for both man and dog!😣 ❤
DeleteYou have been good to and for one another.
ReplyDeleteShes been a star
DeleteLook at you two! Twin white muzzzles. Sweet dreams!
ReplyDeleteI've just checked on her
DeleteShes farting happily
Bless her she loves her Daddy-Hope you don't mind me saying John but you do look a bit alike xx
ReplyDeleteIt's been said before
DeleteShe's a lovely dog indeed.
ReplyDeletewinnie and her farts. good old girl. and loving daddy.
ReplyDeleteOf course they do. And your heart would be smaller, colder and lonelier without them.
ReplyDeleteYour heart ... and ours.
ReplyDeleteThere comes a time when all a person can hope for is that they do not suffer. It sounds like she's not suffering at all at the moment, which is good. But I know your relief is tempered with a heavy place in your heart.
What a lovely character she is.
Please may it truly be "Going Gently" for your lovely Winnie.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely sentiment Ruth x
DeleteOh John, I feel your angst. I see Murphy getting older and I dread the day when he goes. I enjoy every minute with him, as I am sure you do with your pets.
ReplyDeleteStay well dear Winnie and John♥♥
ReplyDeleteThey do tear our hearts but who wants a pristine heart?
ReplyDeleteIt is so hard to let go. We had to take our Border Collie to the crossing. It was just heart breaking.
ReplyDeleteHugs dear ones, hugs and love.
ReplyDeleteWinnie adores you and is very happy to had the chance to live a wonderful home with you and the Power Puff Girls. It is her home. She is loved.
ReplyDeleteparsnip xx
She's having a wonderful life, and that's the most important thing to her. When their time eventually comes it's usually a relief for them; but a nightmare for us.
ReplyDeleteIf,, as sounds likely, she really is in the 'sunset' of her days, she couldn't be in a nicer, more comfortable household, surrounded by love and 'friends' every which way she turns, bless her.
ReplyDeleteAwww, just look at that lovely fat face and those deep podgy wrinkles ... nice to see Winnie too ;-)
ReplyDeleteSeriously I am so pleased she is feeling better. xx
Cro's got it right. We do our best by our animal family but it's unbearable when they leave us. Hope she rallies for a good deal longer.
ReplyDeleteAnd that goodnight kiss was a big thank you to you. They fill your heart and they tear your heart... but they FILL your heart and you fill theirs.
ReplyDeleteThey do tear out hearts. My life would be so much less without mine.
ReplyDeleteTears streaming as i read this. Those daily little things that they do suddenly take on so profound a feeling. She might be dying, but she is not going to let a thing like that stand in the way of her beloved bedtime routine with her faithful human.
ReplyDeleteHugs to both you and Winnie. This is a difficul, heartbreaking time.
ReplyDeleteI hope you and Winnie both do well today.
ReplyDeleteI remember it well when you introduced us to the wonderful Winnie. Give her a kiss for me.
ReplyDeleteShe is a loving hound, you are so fortunate xx
ReplyDeleteAww dear old Winnie; still wanting kisses goodnight. Bless her and you. Give her a hug and kiss from me John please. A wonderful old girl I've loved every tale about her and the other furry family.
