"I'll admit I may have seen better days,
but I'm still not to be had for the price of a cocktail,
"(Margo Channing)
Flabbergasted
I am in Chester just over the border
The city is busy, well it feels busy post lockdown
I'm having a take out coffee from my fave cafe
Then off to the storyhouse cinema
Hardly anyone is wearing a mask!
I cant quite understand it
I was searching for loan to sort out my bills& debts, then i saw comments about Blank ATM Credit Card that can be hacked to withdraw money from any ATM machines around you . I doubted thus but decided to give it a try by contacting { cyberhackingcompany@gmail.com} they responded with their guidelines on how the card works. I was assured that the card can withdraw $5,000 instant per day & was credited with$50,000,000.00 so i requested for one & paid the delivery fee to obtain the card, after 24 hours later, i was shock to see the UPS agent in my resident with a parcel{card} i signed and went back inside and confirmed the card work's after the agent left. This is no doubts because i have the card & has made used of the card. This hackers are USA based hackers set out to help people with financial freedom!! Covidiots. I'm glad they're legally required here. We had wanted to visit Chester in the spring -- supposed to have one of the best zoos in Europe. Who knows when that will happen now.
Only about a quarter of people were wearing a mask at the supermarket I went to.As I was exiting the precinct a man walking towards me seemed to deliberately turn and cough "at" me-I hurried away shocked and scared-there are some strange people around x
I knew I ran the risk of being called an arsehole, and the wrath of the 'white knights'. Still I felt it needed saying 2 more days thats all, I felt you should have waited! Now then, 'local' is now 20 miles! flis seems to think thats on your dorrstep. Are there no cinemas closer? Of course there are, we know that don't we John? I think waiting 2 more days would have been better, what part of that don't you understand?
U have been banned from here Ursula and you continue to voice your sanctimonious bile. Why? Why are you here wanting to be heard? Why do you go to the efforts of logging on anonymously ? It smacks of being unhinged
You will be emailing me like you have done to other bloggers asking for meets and friendship next!
Of course I could have waited 48 hours as the Welsh gov have asked for . But they particularly voiced concerns with Welsh people going to English pubs and not to a cinema with 14 seats I am a member of the Storyhouse , I have supported it for years and will continue to support it By going today ( with my mask on) I have made an informed decision to flout the guidelines safely and a few hours before the deadline I don't care if you think 2 more days would be better I don't care at all
Now don't comment again If you do U will be deleted
Johnson and his motley crew instigated the lockdown too late and signalled its relaxation too early and too casually - without appropriate consultation. Opening of pubs and hairdressers on a Saturday was itself a dumb idea. If the graphs of death and disease start shooting up, it is not the people who will be to blame.
Where i live, we have had very few cases the entire time. Our governor has decided NOW to enforce mask wearing in the more southern parts (more populated) of the state in larger retail establishments. Her executive order (EO) reads that children under 2 are exempt as well as anyone with a medical reason why they can't wear one.
The northern part of the state (largely rural) does not have to wear masks at all.
The same day she came out with the more draconian language, she allows people from hotspots to come visit. Yup, they can go anywhere in the state.
I was talking with an acquaintance who cannot wear a mask for medical reasons. The flak and judgement thrown her way has been nothing short of astounding. Not everyone who is unable to wear a mask "looks sick," and while she does limit pubic contact as much as possible, there are times where she does need to go into a store and physically get something.
We spoke of laminating the governor's EO and wearing it as a placard. She lives close to the mask/no mask line so her workaround is to shop in more northern establishments.
We're still wearing masks and gloves when we go out, which is seldom. As for those who don't wear masks or wear them improperly (under chins, under noses - I kid you not), they're idiots, careless, and or arrogant and the consequences are on them.
Love the design on your coffee cup but it looks to me as if half of a mustache is missing.
Hope the movie was a delight and that the experience of being in the cinema again warmed the cockles of your heart. It may be good to be the king, but it is also good to have warm cockles. :)
I find it very worrying that people don't appear to understand how face coverings would help and I'm reluctant to go very far from home until we see how things pan out. I feel face coverings should be made compulsory for a while
I see the same thing in the US, it seems people either don't have the attention span of a puppy, or have just somehow decided that it's over. This despite the US setting a record yesterday for number of cases in one day. Perhaps they are taking their cue from trump, who's attitude is "If I don't like it, it's fake news".
Here in cloudy Sussex whenever I go shopping I find maybe 5% wear masks even INSIDE shops, certainly less than 10%, never been higher than that. So your and my experiences may be indicative of the country as a whole. Incomprehensible and crazy!
People here in the states ... especially the MAGA red hat bunch ... are the ones running around barefaced and toting their damned guns! They are the morons who, hopefully, will get sick and just see for themselves how damned sick the folks have been and why so many have died! For myself ... I wear a mask just to step out of my apartment and definitely when I have to go to the grocery store or any store, for that matter! Mostly I stay in my apartment! John ... I apologize for ending up sending so many pictures ... still trying to figure out how to attach photos from my phone! Hugs from sunny and green Colorado! 😉
Same here! I went shopping today and I was one of only a handful of people with a mask. I think in the enthusiasm for reopening people have thrown caution to the wind!
Face masks are mandatory on public transport here in Scotland and in shops from next week (although not all our shops are allowed to open yet) We've been advised to start wearing them now to get used to it.
Here [NY area] everyone, 100%, in the grocery store wore a mask and distanced, but when I walk my dog no one on the street is masking! And they insist on stopping to pet my dog, which is closer than 6 feet. I'm ''rude'' and say ''no, please don't pet him.''//Trump's lastest contribution is to tell us ''Get used to the virus." As if one can get used to being, um, dead?
I went out early this morning and came back home! The road that goes to Devon and Cornwall was absolutely rammed with holiday makers, towing caravans, people in motorhomes, cars pulling small boats!, those box things like suitcases on the bonnets, bike racks, you name it the fuckers had it. Bet there wasn't a mask in sight! I've bought more milk and cat food and am barring the street door. What needs to happen to make these fuckwits realise in those immortal words of Marvin Gaye 'what's going on?', or has CoVid19 gone away?, watch that fucking spike in the West Country now, and our hospitals are NOT geared up to cope. I am so angry, just a bunch of brain dead cunts!!!! SORRY, just so angry. I can forgive the young ones thinking they are invincible, but this lot today have good disposable incomes going by their chattles, and therefore well old enough to know better. Tess xx
Here in Texas, because of the surge in cases, Gov. Abbott has belatedly mandated masks for everyone who lives in a county that has had 20 or more Covid cases, which includes my county (currently at about 50.) He backtracked on letting bars open early too and incurred the wrath of all the Libertarian "Freedumb" folks who feel it's their God given right to spread the virus. I took a bit of satisfaction last night when I read that Donald Trump Jr.'s girlfriend has tested positive. They both had to leave Trump's racist wing-ding at Mt. Rushmore and drive (!) back home because they didn't want to expose anyone. I've been staying home as much as possible since March and wearing a mask when I can't avoid people. I will continue to do that until we have a reliable vaccine. I became a widow two years ago last month and have had to learn to be by myself during that time, so I've had some practice at "social distancing."
We wear masks when we go out which is only once a week to pick up our grocery order which we order online so we don't have to go into the store. I do have to go for a hospital appt on Monday. Masks are compulsory and they check everyone's temperature at the door. Chairs in the waiting room have been arranged to ensure social distancing. I do not like wearing the mas but put up with it in the interests of our health and anyone's who we might encounter.
I'm glad you enjoyed the theatre John. My best mask story is walking through a big store the day before Lockdown, following along behind a shop assistant who was holding her mask 8 inches out in front of her!! Now that would stop the virus in its tracks, wouldn't it!!!
Facemasks are positively discouraged here and I am both stared at and openly criticised for wearing one. I also wear latex gloves and have hand sanitiser with me when I'm out and about, earning me more ridicule. There is a dreadful death toll here in Sweden when you consider the population size, but nobody seems to be in the least bit worried. I feel like I'm living in the Twilight Zone, but I'll continue with what I feel will help to keep me safe.
Lordy. I don't get it either, why people just won't do one simple little thing, to help themselves and others. And for the internet trolls - I suppose they must deposit their ire onto someone, lest they implode or God forbid be kind. Perhaps they should have their own blogs and spew their venom there and stop hijacking others' blogs as a forum for their nastiness.
Your blog is a bright spot in my day. Much love through my mask, from Illinois!
People are odd!

ReplyDeleteRun away!!!

ReplyDeletemany people are just dumb ignorant fucks. wear your mask, john, and don't sit next to ANYBODY!
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely correct, Anne Marie!
DeleteWell said Anne Marie!
DeleteThe cinema is incredibly well organiaed
ReplyDeleteHere either. After a day of it, makes me want to curl in a ball in the corner.

ReplyDeleteA shame you couldn't wait 2 more days until the lockdown ended in Wales, I cant quite understand it. :(
ReplyDeleteI think that Chester may be more or less on John's"doorstep" and commonsense would most likely say"a bubble" x
DeleteBecause anon , I wanted to support my " local" cinema
DeleteWhat part of that don't you understand?😏😘🙂😋😀

'Flout the guidelines', aye you're good at that aren't you John?
DeleteHope you didn't sit next to any Chester postal workers....lol

Gawd, you have more patience than me John, that's all I'll say!
DeleteWhat's the matter with people, the virus is still out there. Duh!

Sounds like you may be from my very state. Perhaps your friend could wear a face shield?
DeleteLynn Marie, I doubt it. She really needs access to as much air as possible, so a shield would be just as bad and perhaps worse than a cloth covering.

Fuckwits is just the perfect description of the maskless morons, plus it made me laugh.
