Tired

I didn't realise just how tired I was tonight.
12 hour shifts , much of them with gloves and masks on can be tiring
Exhausting in fact, especially on a hot day.
I got off early tonight too , because I think I took all the new support workers under my wing and taught them how to take baseline observations.
I can teach quite well.
As Winnie started to kick a selection of her most hated scatter cushions around the living room ,in a fit of temper....instead of typing something interesting on Going Gently
I fell asleep in my armchair
Still in my uncomfortable uniform .
I've not long woken up
With a dry mouth from snoring

I feel old today

  2. You woke up, so that's a good start. Followed up by a good stretch and a coffee, things can only get better.

  5. I think you may need to get some fresh country air to fill your lungs with oxygen after possibly not getting enough whilst wearing your mask John x

  6. Winnie is quite adept at throwing little temper fits isn't she? I'm sure she just didn't want to waste her talents. Get some rest tonight.

  8. Be gentle with yourself. Hard work under such circumstances brings out the old in all of us.

    1. I think a lot of are feeling old (if not older) in these trying times! Circumstances we never thought we would ever see!
It is all so exhausting due to the worry!
Try to get good sleep, John.

You mentioned falling asleep in your uniform. At one time nursing staff had to change into their ordinary clothes before going home in order to prevent the spread of germs. Wouldn't that be a good idea in this crisis?

rich white baby boomers were actually protesting against housing the homeless, in Laguna Beach, California. How evil do you have to be to protest against the homeless? It's a 100% fact, boomers are going to get treated like complete shit in the retirement homes. There's not a single person under the age of 40 who does not HATE boomers with a burning passion. Enjoy your retirement homes, boomer scum!

I understand how wearying 12 hour shifts are and it must be so much worse with gloves and masks on. Is the facility air conditioned? Hope so.

Somehow I knew you'd be an excellent teacher!

Hope you got into comfy clothes and left the scatter cushions where they landed. Sweet dreams!

    Hugs!

  18. Twelve hours doing the work you do must be so draining, mentally and physically. I hope you have a good night's sleep and a day off tomorrow. And--I bet Winnie was just acting out to show you how much she misses you and needs you. They're just cushions, after all.

  19. I admire you for working 12 hours. My brain would turn off at 8 hours.

  20. I've been feeling old recently too (I am, of course). I wonder if it has anything to do with underlying stress caused by COVID? Well done on your work; 12 hrs would have me in my box!

  23. With all that has been going on in your world recently, not to mention what is going on for us all, is it any wonder you are totally knackered? And as for your girls, they have had troubling times as well. Did you feed Winnie before you fell asleep or did the diva allow you to have your snooze first? She is an adorable madam.

  26. You need something rejuvenating, don't you? I don't know what that would be for you at this particular moment--rest, a Scotch egg, a visit over the wall--but I hope you find it.

  27. You’re not old, your tired. Take care x

  28. You're entitled to feel tired after working such long hours, but not good when you can't catch up on good sleep. Like Cro said i think quite a few of us are feeling 'old' at the moment. There's not much going on that can put a spring in our collective step. But once the opportunity arises we should all have as much fun as possible, not enough fun in life.
