Hallelujah, The Fat Pony and open flies.......

I've had a lovely day.
First off came the chimney sweep.
I had swept the chimney myself but it had continued to smoke, so I got a little chap in to finish the job properly.
He came a year ago and fell in love with Winnie then, so it was lovely to see her lying next to him with her sleepy big head resting on the calf of his boiler suit as he beavered away.
I met a friend for brunch ( a glorious corned beef hash at "y Shed " ) then left him in a rush in order to meet my sister's at pottery class.
My pony was fired and glazed and looked mighty fine with his proud head, so I made Albert a selection of painted food bowls as Janet glazed her pieces and Ann threw some more pots on her wheel.
We've all loved our time with clay.

Tonight was choir and for an hour we all grappled manfully with Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah as Jamie ( sadly sans his 1940's RAF moustache )bounced around with his flies open.
I did notice at first, but soon forgot, ( I got lost in the practise and anyway didn't want to be accused as being a crotch watcher!!) Thank goodness for the quick thinking Hattie who had the prescience of mind of sending his music iPad the needed " your flies are open!!" message

I saw Trendy Carol too.....she thanks everyone for their kind wishes in the previous post!
"They were kind and they helped" ...she said

  2. I love one's horse. Does he/she have a name? You seem to have quite a talent for modelling them. Horses are usually quite difficult. I am glad you have enjoyed the course. Is it now over or are you going to do further ones. Glad you got to choir. Take care Tricia xx

  4. I'm in a Facebook group about thrift shop finds and the holy grail is a "house hippo" (yea, weird)
Anyway, just for a split second I looked at your horse and thought it was the best house hippo ever 😊
It's beautiful and I'm so glad you're enjoying life.

    The iPad message was ingenious

    2. House Hippos are a Canadian joke. We had a commercial about searching for the elusive House Hippo. Some people use the term instead of dust bunny

    3. I belong to that Facebook group, too! It's a hoot!

50 and counting - thanks for the definition! Had no idea it was also a "dust bunny!'

  15. I have had people tell me I am rude for telling a many his fly is open. Men would rather be told early than continue undone. I want a horse, too!

  25. I've noticed for a long time that dogs seem to have an extraordinary memory, much moreso than most humans. Maybe it's the unique smell of every individual that they remember, while we have to struggle to recall faces - and names.

I agree that your fat pony is wonderful, the glaze is perfect, and you need to make more to sell.

"Hallelujah" is one of my favorite songs and I enjoy the version sung by the late Jeff Buckley.

    Wishing you well!

    Hugs!

  53. I love your choice of colour for the pony well done John. When I was out shopping quite a while ago when I saw a man with his fly open, so I walked over and stood in front of him so no one would notice while he did up his fly, he was quite appreciative, I think most people would rather be told.
