Saturday

I'm feeling a bit lonely this morning
Not desperately and overwhelmingly lonely
Just the slight lonely that has been bordered by a grey wet day and the prospect of two night shifts .
I was originally working two long days and had arranged to leave a few minutes early in order to get back to the village to see a concert by Blazin' Fiddles but there is sickness at work and I was the only nurse who could cover the nights at short notice.
And so.....Hey ho

Next week is better socially.
Affable despot Jason texted me last night wanting a meet up.
He sent me this video to enjoy
I will now pass it on to you

  1. How did the taxi driver power his hair drier? I guess he used the cigarette lighter socket.

  2. What some people will do for a bottle of wine! Sorry you are feeling lonely today John. It is grey and wet here too. How are you getting on at work? Working in the care industry must take its toll over time. I hope your cloud of loneliness soon lifts and you have some fun/nice things to look forward to after your shifts have finished. x

    1. I'm enjoying the hospice work very much. I like the people too...we are busy at the moment, which allows me to get stuck in as it were

  3. I can see that your good hearted nature has already come to the fore in your new job and you can be relied upon to step in at the last minute. Saturdays can be a lonely day John - I find it too. Strictly to look forward to in the evening helps a bit I find.

Thanks for the laugh, be careful about bottles of wine from strangers.

  5. Team work, you step in for each other. I hope you enjoy a night in the hospice, a new experience of sleeping, dying people. When my father died from cancer 50 years ago there were no hospices or MacMillan nurses and our house was like a war zone on the weekend he died. Thank heaven for hospices and care as it is now.

    1. Team work absolutely !
Hospice nurses administer controlled drugs constantly. These need checking and re checking by two trained nurses
This constant dependency on each other's time means that team work is vital

  9. "Funny accent"? "European"? ... Well, I never.

Such a pity how many British do forget that they too are Eurpeans. Brexshite won't change that fact . Funny come to think of it how "insular" correlates with "narrow " (minded). Strange in a way considering how in awe and in thrall I was (and still am) how multicultural England appeared when I first landed on these shores.

Before anyone gets their hopes up that the Home Office will deport me under some fabricated pretext (they are good that way) - don't. Such are the joys of the World Wide Web that, unless they send me to Outer Siberia, you will never lack my company.

I'd like to wish you a happy weekend, John, however, considering the work you do, I suppose the best to hope for is a peaceful one.

    Chucking here!

It's cold and cloudy here with a forecast for rain all afternoon and into the wee hours of the morning. It's a good day for music, a good book, and hot soup with excellent bread.

Hope you feel well loved because you are, even if most of us are "afar".

    Hugs!

  16. I’m anxiously waiting for a rainy afternoon. We haven’t had measurable rain since May. It’s perspective, isn’t it? I barely remember gloomy afternoons.
Laughed out loud at your video clip. Glad I wasn’t drinking at the time.

  17. Hahaha - I enjoyed that, John, thank you. And hoping for a ‘routine’ sort of couple of nights for you. Take care and get yourself a scotch egg or two xx

  23. In the US it is getting closer to the holidays. I always feel lonely for the next month or so. A time for family gatherings and I really have no family. I try to keep busy and help others but it is still a trying time. I am very lucky and content and grateful with what I have compared to others. Sometimes I wish I could just go to bed on November 1 and wake up on January 1 and skip all the middle! I know how relieved your administration must be with you picking up the uncovered shifts. I was in nursing for 42 years... recently retired. Hope your shifts go well.

  24. Hey John, lets face it, at the end of a shift. You need a bath, a mental debunck from afore mentioned shift and love from ur creatures. It feels raw, then after a brief fragile sleep it is real again and then you carry on and.. .. . Do your magic because you( sorry i am in middle of teaching wee cat to eat buscuits. Then carry on. . As we some of us have done. As Alan bennett would say. Keep on keeping on. Hwyl Suz x
