Urges

When I go to get my eyes tested I always get the urge to kiss the optician when he looks deep into my eyes .
It's a very strong urge
I almost pucker up as soon as I feel the smell of aftershave.
I can't be the only one
Surly

This morning I took the bike into Halfords and was supervised by Dom who had a ginger beard and an impressive sleeve tattoo.
Now I am not a lover of tattoos but his sleeve was an incredibly muted depiction of a koi carp amid flowers and it was so beautiful I had the sudden urge to stroke it as he entered my details into his computer.

Of course I didn't
but I would have loved to

Its a quiet day today, and it's sunny.
I am working  tonight, and I have not given my notice in as yet as I am waiting for my official start date at the hospice.
I am about to cut the lawn.
Trendy Carol has just passed in an impressively billowing pair of snakeskin print trousers!
I asked her if it was crocodile!
what do I know?
Laurie (the soft spoken Scot) stopped me this morning to say that he was thrilled to get a mention on the blog. Him and his family worked so very hard to put on the folk festival this weekend so I told him it was the least I could do...Ive had such a nice weekend I want to maintain the momentum of it all.
So apart from some unsociable nursing shifts I have organised a lot over the next two weeks. Badminton with Gorgeous Dave, theatre with my sister, cinema with a friend, choir x2 , a bike ride ( the bike is returned to me on Thursday!) a church singalong! and a two day visit to Sheffield when I have booked to see all my old friends for tea, and supper and lunch and walks in the Botanical Gardens
hey ho
You have got to scratch an urge when they come...….

  1. I had an optician who rolled her cheek across mine as she stared deeply into my eyes. I was so embarrassed!

  3. 'Surly'? Surely you meant 'surely'? Mind you, I know you like a bit of rough. I always get the urge to grab air hostesses arses as they squeeze past up the aisle. So far I have managed to resist them, which is why I am still at liberty to blog and have the occasional holiday.

  4. That sleeve is pretty amazing.
No. I never want to kiss my optician. Ever. I hate having a face that close to mine.

    2. Me too. And dentists, despite mine being lovely and smelling delightful.

    3. I gotta say, I agree with John on this one. Up close and personal.... well, can't help having an urge to supress.

  5. That sleeve is gorgeous. Imagine, a Samarai, covered with intricate tattoos like that..walking works of art.
Tom, a long time ago when I lived in Hollywood Ca, I had a friend / ex football pro ...who taught me some things to do to any man who touched me inappropriately.

And.... you've won the quote of the day.

  6. I had a podiatrist who caressed my foot in a very strange way. A few years later I heard that his license was pulled. Too many complaints from women.

Imagine losing your job over a foot fetish?

    1. I suspect that's why he trained as a podiatrist in the first place Linda. I say this as a friend's former partner was training to be one and I always thought he was weird about feet (each to their own) and thought it wrong that he should train to do it. They went their separate ways but he never did train thank goodness (too flakey to stick with the training).

What an amazing and beautiful tattoo. I, too, am not a fan of tattoos as I've seen far too many stretched by weight gain or loss and others with unfortunate word choices that did not stand the test of time. That said, DS1 and his lovely wife have tattoos. They say why go through life undecorated?

I applaud your plans for the coming two weeks. What fun!

    Hugs!

  8. I had an urge.... A pair of flowery pink and navy Joules wellies. I love them so much that they are sat on the bookcase for all to admire. I'm not usually a flowery person, but they swelled my heart with their prettiness. Now I need a matching hat. Have a splendid week x

  9. I presume people have tattoos to attract attention to themselves, so I would have thought that Halford's man would have been delighted.

Not necessarily Cro. A small minority may enjoy the attention, but more often it's for personal reasons or an enthusiasm for the art. Mine are tributes to loved ones I have lost, and are deeply personal.

Funny post. Made me smile. Glad you tamed your urges... lol. Keep that momentum going. You reap what you sow ... your seeds of kindness, compassion, and laughter, are bringing you the happiness you deserve! I admire how you have bounced back from a very difficult year.

  12. When I was younger I used to think about kissing my optician, never did thank goodness.

    The sleeve is beautiful.

    Have a lovely two weeks.

  13. surly = bad-tempered and unfriendly... a bit like you when a cleverdick blogger like me points out an unintended mistake.

  14. I have a bit of a 'thing' for a well-shaped forearm - summer commuting on a train full of businessmen with their sleeves rolled up (and usually wearing lovely cologne) used to be a proper temptation gauntlet.

Not everyone does rein it in though - I've had my tattoos stroked by several men and women, the men are by far more likely to ask for permission first!

  15. Thank goodness for filters.

Did you recently mention that you had never been to a Pride event? Check your diary for August 10th because I could do with a carer x

  17. Just be careful with your hands or you might be in for a spanking. (Ooh, I should be so lucky, as Julian Clary once said)

  18. I'm not a lover of the 'scatter gun' approach to tattoos, but a well placed, well executed, well thoughthought out tattoo is a joy to behold. The nicest one I ever saw was a full back and upper arm tattoo, Japanese inspired landscape, exquisitely executed in very fine detail. It was so beautiful I had to comment, unfortunately the poor guy thought I was coming onto him and nearly ran in the opposite direction!
My 'urge' regards the trousers worn to reveal most of the boxers underneath, I want to pull them up, much as you would with a toddler.

  19. Look forward to seeing pictures of you on your new bike. Wear a Helmet, start with short rides and build up to longer, more challenging ones. Enjoy.

  20. Beautiful sleeve. I haven't had the urge to touch a tatt, but I have had the urge to ask people about their ink.

Go ahead and ask! I think most people would be more than happy to discuss their tattoos. They're very unlikely to be offended.

  21. Tell Laurie he will probably have half the blog community applying for tickets next year!
Your social schedule would be formidable if it was holiday time...when are you going to sleep?

  22. We were just this week talking about 'sleeves'. Some are beautiful for sure. Others....well....

  23. This may sound strange but in a real-life situation I almost never have the urge to kiss another male unless I know he's gay ahead of time. It may just be a way of staying out of trouble.

  24. I get the giggles in eye tests which doesn't help.

I think I've told you before that my daughter got a tattoo with my blessing when she was going through some horrible medical crap and I thought if it makes her feel better then yes. My husband hates tattoos and our daughter is 26 now and he still doesn't know that she had the Tat done aged 18

  25. Such a fine day you've had and with good things to look forward to next week. I admire 'some' tats and yes, always resist the impulse to touch. I've considered getting one to tidy up a surgical scar but I'm told the process can be quite painful so, no thank you. X

The pain depends on where you have it, but mostly it's like a cat scratch.

  26. I like a well thought out tattoo not just a quick small one done on the spur of the moment for the sake of having one, I don't have the urge for that and I'm
to scared to have a large one like that beautiful sleeve on the photo.
    Good times ahead enjoy John.

  27. My chiropractor used to get behind me and wrap his arm around my shoulders so one forearm was right by my face. It was all I could do not to lean over and kiss his arm.

  28. I've seen a lot of ink, especially in the medical staffs, and admired them verbally, but never been close to touching.

  29. Am I the only reader who thinks all tattoos are horrible?

Probably not. Few things polarise opinion quite so strongly, but each to their own.

    2. JanF, I dislike most tattoos, especially the massive ostentatious ones. But I quite like the small discreet ones, like a small bird on the side of someone's neck. That's rather stylish.

  30. Look at you all busy and having fun.

  31. That’s a nice sleeve!
I like tattoos and men with tattoos. I’m kind of partial to full sleeves or chest works. I do not like neck or face tattoos. Nope.
And there’s nothing sexier than a man who smells nice. After shave makes me swoon too!

    XoXo

  32. I know those urges you describe and I sometimes wonder What if I lose all self control?

  33. I had a bluebird tattooed on my shoulder when I was 26. It's rather faded now but I'm probably too old to have another one. I quite like the 'tribal' shoulder tats though...
Urges? There's a young otter who sits in front of me on the bus every morning. It would be the work of a moment to lean forward and kiss the back of his neck. It would probably mean I could never use that bus again, though.
