I'm running a little late....I'm on the gate of the Prestatyn Flower Show this afternoon, which is a surprisingly interesting job given the number of people who come through the doors.
My most favourite interaction was with a harridan of a woman who slammed down one 50p piece onto my table
" It's one pound fifty to come in !" I told her clearly, bracing myself
" HOW MUCH?!!!!!!" the old bag shouted , trying clearly to intimidate me
"it's ONE POUND FIFTY TO COME IN!" I told her again, holding her gaze
The woman thumped 50p on the table again
Then said with a glint in her eye
" I only want to come in for 10 minutes!"
More entries for " This is me!"
Keep em coming

You have awesome readers.

We had a woman like that who attended our WI events. The treasurer said There's always bloody one, and it's always bloody her.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it was all she could afford? I remember when our children were little and I didn’t work outside the home, money was tight. There were many things I wanted us to do but the admission fee for a family stopped us.
ReplyDeleteWhy is my portrait there when I never sent an entry?
ReplyDeleteYou're so handsome
DeleteFuck Off darling x
DeleteUmmm...
ReplyDeleteWhy is my picture in there? I did not send it. I mean, I like the picture but that's a bit weird.

DeleteLove the orange cat!! It makes me smile and smile.
ReplyDeleteMany times, I cannot afford entrance fees, so I stay home. I would be so embarrassed to do what she did. Did she stay ten minutes?
ReplyDeleteI knew her, she always tries it on.. and I did let her in
DeleteSo, he lets them all in for 50p each and then at 'divi up time' the committee thinks he has trousered all the quids.
ReplyDeleteCannot win anyway round on this one John Boy!

I sold programmes for our village music festival for several years...a free music festival which is fabulous. The programme is as far as I'm concerned is your ticket.
ReplyDeleteOne young man refused to buy a programme as he wasn't staying long,...he was the same young man my neighbours and I faced at heated planning application meetings for the developer he worked for.
He has since married, had children and moved to our lovely village. I hope he buys a programme for the music festival these days !
Love all the photos, there's a story or three in each one, but that orange cat sees inside my soul.
ReplyDeleteFirst: What happened? Did you let her in for 1 pound?!? I expect not, but would love to know where it went from there. The THIS IS ME photos are so varied, so charming, so beautiful... so CURIOUS!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you let the lady in John she sounds like a tough old bird. Lovely selection of photos today.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you let her in! That was going to be my question too! :)
