My Corner

It's a natural human condition to be fascinated in other people's houses.
I have known people that "pretend" to be interested in buying a home just in order to have a good "nose around", having said that, most estate agents provide a full portfolio of internal shots of a property that ticks that need box very well
I know when a blogger I follow photographs a dog looking cute in their living room, it is the living room in the background that gets most scrutiny by me ( its amazing just how much you can see when you can zoom in to a photo with an ipad!)
Isn't that a normal obsession? and not just a middle age gay one?
answers on a postcard please...

and so I'm setting another competition.
Not one as comprehensive as the postcard challenge ( I am still considering what to do with the 600 or so cards I received earlier in the year) but this one everyone can take part in with the use a brief attachment via email.

So Please Send me a photo of your favourite part of your house with a small accompanying paragraph saying why you love it so much? It may be an office area like mine, or a hideaway bedroom or a favourite arbour in the garden...anything you like
just send me your "place" in an attachment via email to jgsheffield@hotmail.com

The above photo is a snap of  my "office" corner in my new kitchen
Here I  plan my future.
Here I listen to the radio with a coffee and my blog most mornings
Here I practise my choir songs with the CD provided by choirmaster Jaimie (now without his 1940s moustache 🙁)
Here George spends most of his poorly days cooling his tummy on the lino beneath my John Lewis table.

  1. I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes to zoom in and scrutinise people's homes! Great idea for a competition, my place is still a bit new to me to have a favourite spot but I shall have a think about it.

    1. Well get thinking...its a bit of frivolity as I have agreed not to discuss anything relating to my divorce whilst I am in mediation...

  2. You’re so right. And yours is such a charming spot. I’ll have to think about where mine might be.

  4. Did you ever hear of a fellow called Jack Horner? Apparently he also had a corner that he sat in when eating his Christmas pie. It is said that he put in his thumb and pulled out a plum before retorting, "What a good boy am I!" He was one crazy dude!

  9. I have a secret spot in the garden where I go to think. Sadly no photo as a very vocal Great Tit has decided to nest by my seat. I won't sit and think for some time it would seem ! x

What a nice corner you have, but don't you need a footstool so you can put your feet up (and give Albert a place to perch as cats do)?

Stay tuned for a photo of my favorite place.

    Hugs!

  11. I agree -- it's always interesting to look at little details of other people's houses! It's human nature, I suppose. We're all curious about each other and how we lead our lives.

  12. I'll send you a photo of my favorite place in the house just as soon as I clean that place up a little! :) Fun idea, John. Thanks!

  13. My favourite place varies according to the season! In winter it's definitely in front of a lovely, blazing coal fire, in summer it's my bench in mytiny backyard. At other times it's my bedroom, warm and cosy and it has good light. So you see, I couldn't pick just one.

  19. I too love to see photos of the everyday interiors of people's homes. Plus photos of what's magneted to their fridges. Plus what's on the shelves inside their fridges.
Signed, Kate, a fellow weirdo (?) PS since I still haven't mailed the postcards I promised for the last competition, I'll use them for this one because while they're not the interior of MY house, they are interiors and that's why I've loved them, I guess. And they don't have to be entered in the competition, but I will take a pic of my favourite place in my little pad and send that

  20. I love to look at other rooms. So many people are so creative and their photos can be inspiring. Plus it is fun to see the things we all have in common. I love your corner. It looks like a place where you can get things accomplished or just relax and enjoy your coffee.

  21. I wish I had a little corner like yours - our house is more recent and is like a box - no cozy or unique little spaces anywhere. I bet someone could figure out how to create such a space even here, but that someone isn't me - I have no decorating imagination at all!

  22. Oh this is fun - I love to have a peak in other peoples homes. My husband calls me nosy I call it curious. Need to tidy up my corner a bit first. Still needs to be painted but it is my little room.

It is always interesting to see other peoples' homes and see if your mental image of them matches the way they live and have them homes arranged.
