Cheap Shoes

A bad workman blames his tools!
and of course I've been losing at badminton because my trainers are now splitting down their sides and not because Gorgeous Dave has the 31 year old legs of a Greek God compared to my 56 year old pair of pigs trotters.
and so yesterday I trolled the shelves on TK Max for a new pair
I found these for 22£
I was just looking at them, trying to figure out if they could be comfy enough when a young lad lifted a pair off the shelves near me
He nodded in that all knowing way, I had not idea that he worked there
"Those are sic trainers" he said with a big smile
"Are they?" I replied and he pointed to their original price tag of £94
"Sure!"
I preened.
I've never bought a pair of "sic" trainers before

I may wear them later when I go and see Mr McKellen
he likes his trainers
hey ho

  1. I had to check

    sic
    adjective
    cool or sweet. From "sick".

  2. "Sic" is my preferred brand when it comes to trainers. Far superior to "Nike", "Reebok" or "Puma". However, I think you will only do better at badminton if you take performance enhancing drugs. You should make enquiries at Boots The Chemist. They'll be happy to help.

  3. £94? That's what I call 'jumping in with both feet'. (Ho ho! - Oh, forget it!)

  4. I buy very cheap 'pumps', plimsolls, tennis shoes. Perfect for our Summers. €5 would be tops!

  7. I only have to put on a pair of trainers to feel scruffy, which is odd considering that I am hardly the best dressed of people.

  8. You'll be a menace on the badminton court now!

  9. Now you will be able to run faster and jump higher. Nice looking shoes, I wear running shoes 99% of the time, yes even with a suit.

Sic? I learn something new nearly every day! May these sic shoes hold up better than those that fell apart.

Hope you enjoy Mr. McKellen's show. :)

    Hugs!

  14. Well, with your spiffing new trainers, I expect you to be making mincemeat of Gorgeous Dave from now on.

  15. Though more expensive, I wear leather or suede sneaker-style footwear as they look a bit more elegant when it comes to casual footwear - which we all love for the comfort factor. Other than walking for exercise, my more athletic days are just about over. IMO old ladies don't really look elegant running, jumping or lifting weights.
Well in all honesty we can't, haha!

  17. I am wearing my lovely Crocs at the moment. They are the big ugly clunky kind but they do have leopard print flannel lining. They are perfect for mucking out the hen house, doing gardening, and kicking over bamboo. But if I were to be playing someone named Gorgeous Dave at badminton, I would definitely get something far more attractive to wear.

  19. Thanks for the explanation. They are very stylish....sic? My 77 year old feet like Rebocks...poor things.

  23. I have no idea what a "Sic" trainer is, but it sounds like you made a good buy! I never understood the fetish some people have for shoes. To me, they're just foot coverings.

  24. I loved Joan Collins saying, after she married a man 25 years her junior, 'if he dies, he dies'.

  25. If you don't win at badminton now ... you never will ;-)

I prefer cheapo Converse rip-offs. Asda and Sainsbury's do them every year. I even have some sequinned and glitter ones for evenings out that aren't too 'posh'. I don't do posh!!

  26. Well, as long as they are comfortable, and I don't trip over the laces, I guess I don't worry about sic. But hey, it's a plus, I suppose! Enjoy your sic trainers with your Greek God badminton game! ;)

  30. My feet are getting so twisted that I might end up as one of those old men who wear trainers inappropriately. How sad (how sick).

  31. I got 2 pairs of Pumas at a Las Vegas Premium Outlet Mall for a total of $99. Original price $290! I love bargains on sic shoes!
