I have read and enjoyed every one of the 552 cards which have arrived
They have diverted and intrigued me
they have made me laugh, and smile and think and I thank you all for joining in with a bit of silly fun
thank you

xxxx
The soldiers kissing was one of my favorites and also good for Vivian.
ReplyDeleteIt was sweet but the buttocks nearly swung it
DeleteI am now imagining hundreds of people worldwide who have had their Saturday ruined by not winning one of your "prizes".
ReplyDeleteSeriously though, well done everyone who made the effort to alleviate the lonely hours for John.
Thank for that Mavis! You make me sound like a right sad sack
DeleteSorry John. That wasn't my intention. Delete my comment for it's offence.
DeleteYes, I am weeping into my modge podge this afternoon. Just kidding. It was a delight to be able to send you something! Many of us having been reading for years and years.
Delete552 people from all over the world... wonderful! And now you shouldn't get any more mail addressed with just your name and village! Your postman will be happy. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe have our old one back now, he's more cheerful
DeleteI positively LOVE the hand made ones. Love. Them. And the most saucy postcard is #mood. 😆
ReplyDeleteXoXo
The hand drawn ones will be set in a frame and hung in the kitchen
DeleteThanks to you John for a brilliant idea which has given us as much enjoyment as I hope it has given you. Nobody, I'm sure, entered merely with a wish to win , we simply wanted to show you how much we all care and are thinking of you. What can you devise as the next brilliant wheeze? I , for one, can't wait.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Susan
Oh I 'll come up with some fool plan xx
DeleteExcellent. I wait with bated breath.
DeleteMore hugs.
Susan
It has been a wonderful experiment and it's great that so many visitors participated. Congratulations to all the winners - including myself! Whoopie-doo!
ReplyDeleteI need your address YP
DeleteI won ... yippee .... it was for most saucy postcard but, hey ho, a bit of rude now and again never hurt anyone !!! Such a brilliant idea John and to get so many postcards from all over the world was brilliant. Every now and again you can have a flick through them all and have a giggle XXXX
ReplyDeleteI need your address too dearheart xx
DeleteCongrats to the worthy finalists and winners! What a fun contest you put on, John -- thank you!
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you dearheart for always being so loyal x
DeleteI too have really enjoyed seeing them all and my favourite by far is the quilted one, which has inspired me to get back to some small projects. Not that I have, but I'm inspired! -Kate
ReplyDeleteIt's been an extension of the flower show photo competition ..great fun all round
DeleteIt's been fantastic seeing all the fabulous postcards, from all over the world, and being able to participate myself. Congratulations to the winners. It was a great idea John, and as someone else suggested, I hope you make it an annual thing. I also hope it did what we all hoped it would, and gave you a huge boost.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sick about not winning....really I'm not :-))
xx
Next time dearheart xx
DeleteCarol Caudwell's 'most boring card' winner was totally fabulous. Well done to all who participated and those that won a category.
ReplyDeleteNicely put
DeleteThat was the best fun - hearty congratulations to the worthy winners! Shucks! It didn't make the Guinness Book of World Records, though - and I really thought it might have. I really enjoyed this - Thanks, John!!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/118623-longest-line-of-postcards
I may set the next competition at finding me a date
DeleteIt was fun to participate. Congratulations to all the winners! :)
ReplyDeleteNow all I need to do is to figure out what to do with them all
DeleteWallpaper the downstairs loo!!! :)
DeleteI am chuffed to bits to have won most boring card with my first entry and to appear in a few short lists. My scotch egg card was the first and I thought I stood a chance until better ones started appearing.
ReplyDeleteI am amazed that my snowdrops made the short list along with the dogs, cats and scotch eggs, that I had to remake as my first one fell apart in the post.
I am chuffed most of all to get a special mention for my "Walking Dead" card.
All the short listed cards are amazing as well as the winning ones. Well done to everyone that entered and to John for coming up with the idea. It has been such a lot of fun.
And you dear carol seem to be the champion of champions x
DeleteI don’t envy Cameron having to choose the winners they were all brilliant, well done everyone who won.
ReplyDeleteBless him he came around today to look after the cottage....he was booked for next week
DeleteI love that you roped him in to help with this. He'll be dining off of that story for the rest of his life.
DeleteThank you John. I enjoyed sending them to you, making up the stories that nobody else saw and generally being stupid. x
ReplyDeleteI think we both needed a bit of " froth"
DeleteThanks John for encouraging us to brighten some winter days with a bit of good fun.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a bit like a long chain of hand holding !
DeleteHave so much enjoyed the postcard contest. Congratulations to all...and well chosen John! X
ReplyDeleteThank you Camille x
DeleteI'm glad the two sailors kissing won, that was my favourite. I made it onto a short list, I'm flipping gobsmacked! It really has been a lot of fun seeing the daily arrivals.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling I will have a score more to judge in a week or so
DeleteWell, now you have enough ot postcards to paper a small restroom..!
ReplyDeleteI said before I think I will try to do something arty with them all
DeleteCheers for the finalists and winners and ta for John who made this challenge delightful fun!
ReplyDeleteNow it will be interesting to see how you choose to display the postcards. Imagine: if you prop once card up on a wee easel every day, it will take you about 18 months to see each one again (math wizards, I estimated!). Isn't that astonishing?
Hugs!
Thank You so much for all the fun.
ReplyDeleteSo many of the ones I loved were on the short lists and my favorite was the postman with George delivering a sack of postcards, the cat with the crazy eyes and the New Brunswick. All were fabulous !
cheers, gayle
Congrats gayle x
DeleteWe had a lot of fun taking part. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteGood x
DeleteEnjoyed seeing so many different postcards, congratulations to the winners x

Best part is that you got a lot of laughs, as did we viewers, and now you know how much you are loved all around the planet.
Mary X
What a fabulous contest - congrats. to all the winners!
ReplyDeleteAre you going to make an album to keep them in John?
Best part is that you got a lot of laughs, as did we viewers, and now you know how much you are loved all around the planet.

Mary I have a meeting with the village crafter Karen soon , I am going to ask her for a few ideas
DeleteThe finalists in each section were great, I liked the two guys kissing best I must admit. And admit that I couldn’t find a decent, or indecent, postcard in Wellington. I obviously move in much too limited a circle!!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of displaying them in a pile, so you turn one over each day. We’ve had Art calendars for the last few years and it’s quite exciting to see what pops up each morning.
By the way, is Mary’s ear improving? Poor girl, if it hurts, she’ll scratch it, and certainly won’t understand you trying to stop her.
Thank u for asking
DeleteMary's ear is still a problem , I have new spray for her...
George has a degree of heart failure but remains chirpy
I looked forward to seeing what arrived each day. Good fun.
ReplyDeletethank you for your entry andrew
DeleteThank you for welcoming this much fun!
ReplyDeletesimple fun jimbo
ReplyDeleteperhaps that's the best kind
What a wild ride! Lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the winners! I knew I wouldn't win. I never do ...
ReplyDeletenext time xx
DeleteThis was such fun and I loved seeing the postcards everyday. I do hope you maybe do this again sometime. I am already keeping my eyes open for unusual (smutty) postcards.
ReplyDeleteHi John, I won a prize ages ago . . . a personal reply from you. I feel like a winner. Cheers. Cathy. 😇
ReplyDeleteHugs Cathy xx
DeleteWhat a brilliant competition. 😀 Now we are all waiting with bated breath to see which wall of your cute little cottage is going to be decorated with all the entries.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on having so many readers that love you to bits 💕
I really like your site. I follow anonymously. I'd be happy if you followed my site. Good work...
ReplyDeletehttps://insanadavet.blogspot.com
Bravo to the winners and bravo to you, John, for having this fun exercise where so many participated. It gave them joy and, I hope, helped ease some burdens for you also.
ReplyDeleteI am so pleased to have won the "sums up my home best" category! I live in a fishing village in the province of New Brunswick, Canada, not too far from the town of Shediac, the "Lobster Capital of the World" and home of the 90-ton World's Largest Lobster sculpture seen on the postcard. You can climb onto the sculpture and have your photo taken beside the lobster fisherman if you wish.
ReplyDeleteI look forward each day to reading your blog post(s) and have thoroughly enjoyed your postcard challenge. It is great that you received so many responses.
really good fun, thanks for putting on the show!
ReplyDeleteIt has been a fun couple if weeks reading all the cards. As our post shops have disappeared and post cards are hard to find I missed out.
ReplyDeleteThat was such a great idea John.....I loved seeing all the entries. Never dreamed there would be so many!
ReplyDeleteDog cartoon book on it's way to you....posted yesterday. Hope it gives you a few laughs ! X
Yay! my card was a finalist!! This has been such fun and it shows how far-reaching your blog is. x
ReplyDeleteFabulous fun - although I thought John meant we had to write a boring postcard! Sorry about that tedious drivel John. :-))
ReplyDeleteoh wow! hey john, you don't need to send me anything. playing along was fun enough! i can't think of what you can possible do with 500 plus postcards. i really like the idea of having a postcard shrine where you place a different one out on display each week. it seems like the best way to keep enjoying them. and randomly pulling one out of a box will be a continuous surprise. thanks so much again for doing this! joyce
ReplyDeleteWill continue to send you postcards just to keep your postman in his toes.. and also keep him from being bored! He should thank YOU!!
ReplyDeleteSo happy my card won in the animal theme section It was great fun looking for a card to enter with and you had so many brilliant entries. Thanks John x
ReplyDeleteJohn, this was a fun way to bring us all together, and watching you post each card was as good as getting such lovely mail ourselves. Every card, you know, was sent with love.
ReplyDeleteI don't need 'nuffink as a prize, it was fun to see my card on this page.
ReplyDeleteThe last time l won anyfink was in 1982, a bottle of liefamilch (spelling?) for me disco dancin' to Shalimar, had probably had too much liefamilch before me entrance on the dancefloor.
Now my competitions involve sending postcards to far away lands! Dizzy bird!
Much love Tess xx
Since your contest I have started sending postcards! To nearby friends ... to Internet-only friends ... I bought a whole book of postcard stamps so I don't have to go by the PO to send one! And it's all thanks to this brilliant contest. :)
ReplyDeleteSo enjoyed your cards — thanks for sharing here.
ReplyDeleteThis was a lot of fun and I hope we get to do it again. I enjoyed seeing where a lot of the readers where from. XO
ReplyDeleteExcellent choices all around! Congrats to the winners. When you started this I never would have imagined you'd get close to 552 cards. (And they're still coming, apparently?) I thought you might get 100. What a great expression of community and creativity!
