Creating A Monster

With George now assuming top dog status by spending every sleeping moment in the much sought after blue arm chair, Winnie has been now been relegated to the small edwardian arm chair in the corner of the living room.  Already fed up with this " demotion" she now has made it her misson to sneak onto the couch with me and Mary where she has suddenly found herself mesmerised with the devil himself....the television  For hours in an evening ( and like most if the UK population) she will now watch any old shite thats going but seems to  prefer action tv and movies to anything more cerebral or thoughtful  The other evening she seems to be particularly engrossed in Disneys Jungle Book but did sit through the Victoria Cohen Mitchel Quiz Show Only Connect without blinking.

  1. Many of us 'older' women spend too much time in front of the television!

What a great photo of mesmerized Winnie and what a darling she is! Am glad she's found a sweet haven since George has promoted himself to leader of the pack these days.

Makes me wonder what's up with the Foul Mouth Parrot on Loose?

    Hugs!

  3. My dog Tate would growl at the tv sometimes. We never could figure out what brought that on,!
But he did love to watch the Westminster Dog Show every year :)

  4. She’s too cute. I’ve seen doggies totally engrossed in the weirdest tv programs. Can’t understand it. Guess it’s a doggie thing.

  5. It's hard for me to know what to think about that. Can you tell if Winnie enjoys it or if she is feeling glum? -Mary

  8. Perhaps she could captain a team and actually get some of the "questions" correct. The majority of humans who appear can't.

Dorothy barked through Jungle Book until I couldn't bear the noise.

  9. The only time my dogs care about tv is when a dogs barks or critters squeaks !
    Linda I love your comment.

  10. Hahaha! I sense some light judgement of her viewing preferences. Obviously you need to rethink your furniture selection for the dogs' comfort. Beware the sudden appearance of Furniture Village catalogues under Winnie's cushion!

    1. It's a site where you can upload your photos to be printed on items for other people to purchase. They do the printing, shipping etc and you get to choose the commission you are paid. So you could just upload dog photos, pick products and all across the world Winnie could be spotted on tote bags, coffee mugs whatever.

  14. Is she enjoying the new Dr Who?

Sometimes, it's nice to just chill in front of the tv. Stay safe and warm!

DOGTV is a TV channel for dogs. A trusted source of scientifically developed content for dogs, DOGTV is organized into relaxing, stimulating, and exposure segments to provide just the right balance for the daily routines of our beloved “stay-at-home” pups. It is coming to the DISH Network, a satellite tv provider for mostly rural locales. I do not know if it is available in the UK. It is a premium channel so you must pay an extra fee, so my dog will have to do without.

  17. Our cat used to be fascinated by the hockey games (ice hockey) - he'd sit there watching the puck steadily and then when someone shot the puck and it disappeared off screen he'd run around back of the TV looking for it!

  18. Haha! Luckily she will watch any old thing now, but you'll be fighting for the remote if she starts to study the tv guide. She looks like she needs to be in charge of something now the seating plans have gone awry for her.

  19. Oh and she's not been told about sitting too close to the screen? Doggie glasses are probably not on your wish list for this year.

  20. Too funny! None of our dogs have ever had an interest in tv!

  21. My daughter's dog (about one year old) is mezmerized by movies with dogs in them. She stands right in front of the TV and sometimes jumps up and down. They often have to take her out of the room if they want to watch.

  22. Don't let her become a couch potato. She already looks like one - a beautiful one (he adds hastily).

  23. If she’s anything like me she hardly ever gets a question right?

  26. My dog does not quite understand the tv concept. When any animals come on he charges at the tv barking ferociously and as the animal runs across the screen he tries to follow it then runs around like mad looking for it! He often tries to get in behind the tv as he's sure the animals must be there! He's not the sharpest knife in the drawer it has to be said, but we love him!

  27. Good for George. Elsie doesn't take much notice of the tv but she does notice the Famous Grouse advert and the Minions from Despicable Me.

  29. Oh, what a hoot....she looks so engrossed in the programme bless her. My little dog will watch the t.v, but if any animal comes on it, he goes off on one!...hence we have to switch over Enjoy your meet up in February it will do you the power of good. You are a great person john, and I am sure the people that have passed by in your life are much richer for it. Love, love, love your blog...sue x

  33. I can sit through Only Connect without blinking too! Poor Winnie, she's a beautiful old gal and needs to be indulged in her dotage.

  34. I often sit through the last ten minutes of it as I don't wish to miss any of University Challenge - and after watching it for the whole series more or less i still can't do it.

  35. Both Mavis and Suky are complete tele addicts. At the moment Paul O'Grady's For the Love of Dogs is a firm favourite 🙂 But they will watch anything and everything, even when we think they're asleep they'll bark or growl if an animal runs across the back of a scene.

They love cartoons too and had a great time watching Monsters Inc at Christmas.

    ReplyDelete
  36. So when you go out, do you leave the television on for them?

  37. My oldest granddaughter adored Jungle Book, and I laughed myself to tears at her little backside swaying to the bear's beat in the last frames of the movie. It seems Winnie just has mental pleasure from the film.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Winnie needs her own show - far more interesting than most of the rubbish on tv with you, of course, as co-presenter (but minor role, don't outshine the star!).

  39. Our old moggie Psychocat used to watch the snooker. She would go behind the TV when the balls disappeared into the pockets.
