I'm off to bed now for a few hours...work again tonight, so I guess I won't find out today.
One of my patients mentioned just how funny Don Rickles was so , having no real clue of who he was , I googled him the other day.
Not PC nowadays but incredibly funny,
He's entertained me before sleep
Don Rickles was way before his time .. he was hilarious. So many good entertainers fallen from the twisted knicker brigades.
ReplyDeleteRest well, laughter is good medicine. That was a funny bunch, from another generation, comedy evolves.
ReplyDeleteHe wasn't PC back then, either! I remember my mom would never let us watch him on television, where I'm sure his routines were cleaned up for mass consumption.
ReplyDeleteI love Don Rickles!!! Talk about funny, snarky wise cracking jokes. I miss him.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile rest up dear....you'll be on ball duty soon, decking that tree.
I’ve laughed a lot but I always thought him a little mean.
ReplyDeleteAh, I remember these folks well! I laughed but also remember thinking that some remarks were too barbed.
ReplyDeleteI'm one who hopes you don't find out who left your charming Christmas tree.
We ended up with about 15" of snow so it's another day at home as I don't need to go anywhere in the cold, deep snow.
Hugs!
I never liked Rickles. That sort of meanness doesn't strike me as funny.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun to have a secret benefactor!
Never heard of Rickles = must be American I suspect. I too hope the tree mystery is never solved. Maybe Santa dropped it off.
ReplyDeleteI always liked Don Rickles too. He made a point of demonstrating that, despite his mean humour, he was a pussycat in real life who loved everyone. A difficult tightrope to walk with that kind of humour, but he successfully managed it.
ReplyDeleteSo happy that pine has been foisted on you. As if you'd resisted! Like some of your other readers I too hope the fairy who brought you the tree will remain shrouded in mystery. Sometimes it's best not to get to the bottom of things - keeping our imagination on its toes.
ReplyDeleteAdvent greetings, Gemma
He never was PC, but he was always entertaining.
ReplyDeleteHe had some decent acting chops, too https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0725543/?ref_=nv_sr_1
ReplyDeleteIt may be good that I recall little these days. I watched Don Rickles, but could tell you nothing. Maybe, like your tree...
ReplyDeleteI always enjoyed Don Rickles.
ReplyDeleteI thought he was mean....now, Benny Hill...LOL
ReplyDeleteIt was almost as funny as "My Family" starring Robert Lindsay and Zoe Wannamaker.
ReplyDeleteI was never a fan of Don Rickles either. To each his own...
ReplyDeleteI love your tree and I hope that it brings you lots of happiness. How nice of some one to do that!.You are surrounded by lovely people!,xx
ReplyDeleteMaybe a 'Christmas Elf' dropped that tree off, John.
ReplyDeleteDon, Eddie Murphy, Robin Williams, none of them PC, all of them fabulous because they made fun of everyone, mostly themselves. Enjoy the tree and revel in those who love you.
ReplyDeleteDon Rickles was . . . . Don Rickles.
ReplyDeleteI'm not really a Rickles fan, I do see Phyllis Diller there, she used to crack me up in my younger days.
ReplyDeleteDon Rickles was very quick-witted and very funny, but I found him too cruel. I always wondered how some of his audience members felt after one of his entertaining attacks, especially about their physical appearance.
