14 lbs

I've lost my first stone at fat club
I was given lots of praise this morning and a star sticker to go home with !
As I left one woman asked me how I've lost the weight in just five weeks
" Geing petitioned in a divorce" I told her

  1. I have a friend who said that I was on the Widows Diet. Loss does suck the life out of you in so many ways, whether it is death of a spouse or death of a marriage .. as much as I hate the statement and the fact, Time really does Heal ... at least the terrible pain of loss will dull to a twinge now and then.
    Love you ...

  2. That'll do it every time.

  3. That's not a way anyone should have to lose it.
On a positive note, 14 less pounds is better for your health. X

  4. People tend to go one way or the other when they're going through something like that.

If that's what you were going for, then congrats! If not, then I am going to act like an old person and say "I hope you're eating!"

  5. I lost about the same when my home burnt down and we lost the cat.
Then again when my x walked out one morning as I drove the children to school.
    Big hugs from Tucson !

  7. Great! Take the compliments, and forget what caused it. You’re going to emerge from this a new man.

  8. Congrats are most definitely in order, even if you reached this welcome milestone by a route you didn't desire. Still, you've got so far, which means one less stone to go! Well done, Sir!

  9. Also known as the Heartbreak Diet. Well done on losing that stone. Being healthier will help being happier (in the long run) xxx

  10. A few of my divorced friends are thin and happy. The weight came off quickly but their happiness took some time. Healing is a gradual thing.

  12. Yeah, that will do it. You're good 'n smart. Control it and use it, for weight and recovery.

I lost a quick 20 lbs after splitting from my first husband. But I would tell people I'd lost 350 pounds. :)

  14. I am happy that you are losing weight as that's what you wanted, I'm a little worried about the reason for losing weight.

    Fabuloss darling!
Now, leave the how and why aside, keep it up and treat yourself (in the sales!) to some new togs, in a smaller size, as a treat to keep going.
One day you will look in the mirror and think who is that young looking fit lad....? oh, it's me, says John.

  16. Happy for you losing the weight, it's just not quite how anyone want's to do it. Keep this up though and you'll soon be a slim Adonis, beating them off with a club!

  20. I would love to get a star sticker! Last time I lost any weight was after eating bad oysters. You will have to buy some new clothes now.

  21. Grief can be a double edged sword.

Just how big is that star sticker? Will it go on top of your little tree?

  22. The divorce diet. It takes you one way or the other doesn't it? Forget to eat or comfort eat. I recently lost 1/2 a stone because I had a virus and so far it's stayed off so I hope yours does too. I have never been to a fat club, perhaps I'll go if you get loads of praise AND a star!

  24. Congratulations on the weight loss. The only time in my life I was ever thin was when I went through a divorce.

  27. Yes John, sadly the loss of a partner = by death or otherwise is usually an easy way to lose weight quickly. The appetite goes but it will return = I promise you This year Christmas will be hard - very hard - but it gets easier. x

  28. It does happen..been there..funny how stress can also cause weight gain by an increase in Cortisol.
    Look after yourself x

Well done! As I learned from an orthopedic doctor decades ago, that 14lb weight loss is multiplied x 10 for the amount of relief your knees will feel now.

Hope you put your congratulatory gold star on your wee Christmas tree because you should be proud of yourself.

    Hugs!

  36. The Grief Diet, I call it.
Well, if anything good can come out of what you're going through, a nice weight loss is not so bad.

  37. At least you’ve got it the right way round. I’ve been fat and unhappy. It was crap.

  38. Congratulations on the weight loss, regardless of how it came about. Time for new clothes after twenty pounds, usually, or rediscovering clothes you've "grown out of"! -Jenn

  39. Yep, I was at my slimmest ever when I got divorced. Then I met someone who loves his food and got a bit carried away 🤣🤣

  41. Congrats. I'm in a dither at the moment as my husband's defibrillator wire has broken, surgery tomorrow at 7 am. It's always something with this man; heart attack at age 48 back in 1998, cancer, back surgery, motorcycle accident, etc. He's really pushing his angels! Sounds like you are enjoying the choir and etc John. I hope it's becoming a really good week. Keep on keeping on.

  42. I have always found the stress diet one of more successful ones.

  43. Congrats John it will put a spring in your step, keeping it of is the hard part but no doubt walking the dogs will keep it of.

  44. The late American comedienne Totie Fields was always round. She said her trick to weight loss was getting cancer and having her leg amputated.
