Ok We're down but not out.....
I've chosen the name for the new car, I picked it as I sat in the vet's waiting room this morning
The entries made me laugh, more so than the new German vet did a few minutes later
Such is the rollercoaster that is my life at the moment.
The winner can be seen at the bottom of this post....please send me your address to jgsheffield@hotmail.com....you have won yourself a Welsh love spoon!
Anyhow the new German vet couldn't have been more stereotypically " German" if she tried
Brusque, no nonsense , loud, and looking remarkable like Rachel Roberts' lesbianish lady's maid from Murder On The Orient Express she checked the inside of William's bloody ear with efficient speaed remarking loudly and without pulling any punches " Ah a tumour!"
I wasn't quite prepared for that...I'd only noticed his sore ear seven hours earlier after getting home late after a Sams shift
She was in the middle of talking about " being too old for anaesthetic " when I stopped her.
I returned to my senior nurse days and took control of the gallop before it joined the stampede.
" let's treat the infection and the irritation first, then we can look at cause and the next step" I told her
firmly. She tried to pour oil on the water by cracking bad jokes.
I smiled thinly and politely.
I agreed to return to the surgery on Monday after she gave William an antibiotic and a steroid injection.
William accepted everything with his usual good humour, even though he now looks rather tired.
We passed the MacDonalds at Caerwys on the way home and as I did With Winnie, earlier in the week, I stopped and bought us breakfast. Coffee and a egg muffin for me, a warm sausage muffin for William and we stopped in a layby in the sun and ate in silence.
It's warm and bright this morning and the Blue of the new Vauxhall looked mighty fine in the sun
Her new name is a no brainer
Thanks to Amy (at love made my home)
The car is going to be called Bluebell.
Bluebell is a good choice. I hope that William feels brighter tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThat's a bit of a downer... It's neither silly or funny... :-(
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you're disappointed
Delete@Anonymous, John's car, John's business, if you don't like his decision, tough! Oh, and have the courage to use your name!
DeleteGeeez... Sorry for breathing.... Fine, bluebell, great, just not funny or silly as was asked. That's all.

Sending love and healing vibes to (((((((William)))))))
ReplyDeleteAs we all are, vets can be scary at times. Think 'Bluebell' is a good name, my car is called 'Ogy' after its number plate.
DeleteGet well William xxx and Winnie xxx
I love it ... the car name. That vet I could do without!
ReplyDeleteme too ... re: the vet. I like a vet that gives the pup a cuddle and apologizes for hurting them .. that was my last vet in Buenos Aires ..
Deletegreat car name. my ford escort wagon is named Meatball. When we bought it my son was 4 and going thru "Can I have this for breakfast lunch and dinner"phase. That week it was Meatballs. May you drive many happy miles with the pets and your friends. Barb
ReplyDeleteAwww, Bluebell is adorable!! Meanwhile, Brunhild is not a keeper at the vet's. William is too much of a gentleman for her manner. The sausage McMuffin was the perfect breakfast to make it up to him.
ReplyDeleteGreat name. Sending good vibes for poor William.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Oh John! I am glad you like the name. I will drop you a line later. Mostly I am glad that you have your car and your independence and that you sorted the vet out too!!! Hope William is Ok and that Winnie continues to do well - loved the line about the sausage wafting resuscitation!
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself and William, and WInnie. I like Bluebell. Mine is Max, sometimes they just tell you what their name should be.
ReplyDeleteJohn- sending love and hugs from Cornwall to you and especially darling Winnie and William too.Fingers crossed the canine health concerns can be managed with your love and care.x
ReplyDelete**** off you annoying ****!
ReplyDeleteI love that you take your dogs to McD's for a burger. It's never ever crossed my mind to do that lol. My dog would love it though!
ReplyDeletePerfect name!
ReplyDeleteI like the way you took it one step at a time with William. I often wonder how many times we lay people get bamboozled so that simple solutions get lost. I hope he does well with the current treatment plan.
Bluebell is a great name! I'm sorry to hear about William, but hopefully after the infection is taken care of the tumor will prove to be mild and treatable.
ReplyDeleteHope William's ear isn't causing him too much discomfort. Bluebell is a good name for a car as long as it is blue.
ReplyDeleteAwww sweet William. He's a pretty tough chap. I hope the ointments ease his discomfort.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have many happy outings in Bluebell with all your little flowers. I can picture William appreciative of his warm sausage muffin and your company in the warm sunshine.
ReplyDeletePerfect . . .
ReplyDeleteBluebell!
Good name for your lovely blue car and it's short and sweet.
ReplyDeleteYesterday I was reminding of a friend from many decades past who at the time was driving an old car that had a fussy started. She named the car "Dammit" as every time she wanted to go somewhere, she'd turn the car key and say, "Start, dammit!"
Wishing Winnie and William well. Good for you for pulling the stern vet back to reality.
I named our Black BMW ..... 'Max' .....
ReplyDelete:)
I thought that might be a winner. I hope all goes well for William and and for you. All the best John.
ReplyDeleteNow that's a proper car name. Jan Bxx
ReplyDeleteI like it. Bluebell is perfect!
ReplyDeleteIt's a gentle name - positive and even a bit smiley. Exactly suits the mood you'll want to prevail daily, especially like now when the concerns of your brood are uppermost . We heartily wish William a quick return to normalcy.
ReplyDeleteI hope William is okay. I wasn't sure which one he was so I scrolled down through the photos. He's a cutie. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI have a great image in my mind of Bluebell full of lovely little faces looking out... likely in the hopes of meaty treats from the golden arches! x
ReplyDeleteI hope that William will be OK. My schnauzer spent an hour last night trying to scratch one of his ears, but I can't see much wrong with it apart from a bit of dandruffy stuff ! Have been wiping it with expensive ear wipes that I had from vet a couple of years ago! ...and been washing his scurfy legs with medicated shampoo from the vet...£28 for a bottle. I think they are ( taking the .... ) making the most of our love for our pets!!
ReplyDeleteBluebell is a nice name for a blue car, but I still prefer Gladys ! How old is sweet William now? X
Love the name and I hope you put many happy miles on it!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about sweet William's ear. My you are having a time of it, aren't you? Let us hope things look up for a while now - you are certainly due.
ReplyDeleteMay Bluebell give you many miles of trouble free driving. Excellent name!
Poor William - it's so worrying when they are unwell.
ReplyDeleteLove the car name - it sounds really friendly. My gran had an Eastern blue kangaroo who was called Bluebell. It was orphaned as a joey and it was brought to gran's farm as she was a sucker for sick and wounded animals and had a menagerie of orphans, both furry and feathered. Bluebell was a lovely, gentle roo and I remember her fondly even all these years later.
Marie, I love this .. and I think I love your Gran too :)
DeleteI've been AWOL lately, and just now catching up...
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to read of Winnie's "turn", she's a trooper as we all know, and hopefully will continue to make a complete recovery.
Poor William, let's hope the vet can offer him some comfort, and magically the tumor will disappear.
I love your new dash about town car, Bluebell is the perfect name :)
Have wheels, will travel !
Hugs,
~Jo
Splendid name, Happy miles ahead! x
ReplyDeleteget better soon, william!
ReplyDelete"Bluebell" -- what a perfect name! I hope William's ear clears up.
ReplyDeleteOh, poor little guy! Give little William a pat or two from me. Throw one in for Winnie and the rest of your fur family.
ReplyDeleteBluebell is a sweet name for a car. Mine is Brokeback Buick (Hunka Junk for short).
I hope William feels better soon.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful name for a beautiful car! Best wishes for William.
ReplyDeleteThinking of William and Winnie as they recover from their setbacks. Hopefully you’ll all get to enjoy plenty of happy outings in Bluebell once the medical issues are resolved.
ReplyDeleteSorry about dear old William John. But take heart - they told me Tess had a tumour six months ago and she is still alright.
ReplyDeleteLove 'Bluebell' it is perfect.
Hope poor Willam will feel better for the steroid and antibiotics bless him. As for the car name, I can tell you that is the name we have for our vehicle. Our last one was called Nellybelle and when we replaced it with a newer version 5 years ago which happens to be blue too the natural progression was to call her Bluebell. A great name for your car. I talk to our Bluebell all the time and thank her for getting us from one place to another safely and when she was playing up the other week I didn't scold her, I told her that if she got us home safe and sound I would take her to get repaired the next day, which I did and thankfully it was a simple fix. We rely on our vehicles so much so they deserve respect and thanks in my humble opinion.
ReplyDeleteSweet name, beautiful car.
ReplyDeleteLove William and so happy to hear he enjoyed his breakfast outside with just you.
cheers, parsnip and badger
Thumbs up from me for the name Bluebell, my dear friend's Renault 5 was named Bluebell, our's is another one named after the number plate OBY, last one was ARZ not so flattering! hugs to dear William, hope the treatment gets him out of pain and discomfort soon. Alison in Shropshire.
ReplyDeleteOh John poor William, I hope he is more comfortable after his treatment. Loving "Bluebell", well done Amy great name!
ReplyDeleteOh poor William, I hope by this late afternoon he is feeling better. I love Bluebell, obviously not as much as my choice, Tinkerbell.
ReplyDeleteBluebell is a wonderful choice :)
ReplyDeleteI hope William feels better soon. He is "an elder" now, is he not? Freedom from pain is the number one goal, I would think.
Poor William , poor you as well.
ReplyDeleteGlad you took charge at the surgery
Once an over zealous young vet wanted a muzzle put on my old Rottie before examination, for a tooth problem l may add.
After trying to get the muzzle on him in the car park, both of us in distress. I marched into to surgery and slapping the said muzzle down announced in my best Peggy Mount voice (old English battle-axe actress) for them to BIll ME FOR THE BLOOD!.
Hope you all have a settled weekend.
Much love Tess x
Oh William! Sending love to you and him. What bad news. I hope that it is benign and easily removable/treatable. <3
ReplyDeleteGood name. Hopefully will be part of the fun times to come. Hugs to William et al. MaggieB
ReplyDeleteKisses across the miles for William (and Winnie, too). Bluebell is the perfect name, congrats Amy!
ReplyDeleteThere is something so sweet and charming about a little blue car called Bluebell. What is William doing today ? showing signs of energy and better health ? I can't believe I wake up surrounded by pets and lay there in my bed, wondering how William is .. he is worth the wondering..
ReplyDeletePoor William.
ReplyDeleteLove the new car name.
I can just see you all sitting in Bluebell eating your Macca's :)
ReplyDeleteBluebell suits your car John it sounds cheery and you need some of that right now, vets get it wrong sometimes a dog we owned previously was diagnosed with a tumor which magically disappeared.
ReplyDeleteOh! So sorry to hear of Williams troubles.. I guess it comes with age. My Amy (Silky Terrier who is 11) just had major surgery removing a mammary gland which I found exhibiting three small lumps very early one morning when she came into bed for a snuggle.
ReplyDeleteHeart in mouth and surgery performed within 4 days we feel blessed that the lumps were benign - thing is these lumps pop up so suddenly.
Soldier on John - one day at a time. Bluebell :) will make life much more convenient.
Bluebell is a very good choice, it's a very 'uplifting'name.
ReplyDeletePoor William, I'm so glad you stood up to the vet. Lots of people quiver in front of professionals. (I do with dentists!)
Glad William is better. Brusque doctors of any sort always annoy me because bedside manner matters whether it is human or animal.
ReplyDeleteI love the car name, it is cheerful!!
Hope William is better in a few days. Bluebell 🚙 fits nicely! Gabs
ReplyDeleteI like the name of the car. I hope that William and Winnie and you have an easier go of it in the future.
ReplyDeleteI like Dave.

ReplyDeleteI do like that. Indeed.
