The relationship between Albert and Winnie is a simple one
Albert adores Winnie, but doesn't know when to rein in the lurve
Winnie benignly understands Albert
This video is the end of a " love in" between the two which lasted several minutes
One that ended with Albert getting too physical
And Winnie sighing heavily with the effort of it all.
This interaction happens at least once a day.
The relationship between species is always a complex one
But is something quite magical to watch

Always felt the same about women......
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed magical. They are often a great deal less prejudiced than our species.
ReplyDeleteMy young labrador retriever is pretty tolerant of the whipping my snarky old lady cat gives her too. We tend to think of cats and dogs being mortal enemies and quite opposite is true!
ReplyDeleteI can see them on the big screen
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on
Albert clearly does love Winnie and wants to "play fight". My two cats love to play like this when they are both in the mood for it. Winnie looks like she was just too tired to play. I love to watch the interaction between dogs and cats that are raised together.
ReplyDeleteIt is unusual for different species to get along so well. We humans are the ones who put them together and I very much doubt they would ever come together in the wild.
ReplyDeleteCute, my older cat loves me, likes the chickens, is indifferent towards the rabbits and loaths the younger cat.
ReplyDeleteThat's friendships and kinship and love. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, what tv commercial had Winnie's attention?
Heart-warming, and so educational to we humans on how easy and natural it can be to feel warmth towards others who are a bit 'different'.
ReplyDeleteOur own cat/dog relationship seems very complex.
ReplyDeleteDid Winnie push Albert off of his share of the carpet? How kind of Winnie to tolerate Albert's boxing so passively.
ReplyDeleteWe've noticed our dogs and cats love to be a silly millimeter or more above any surrounding surface. Our beloved and dearly departed Basset, Daisy, thought she was in high cotton to be stretched out on a tarp that was spread out on the patio concrete. Hence, in our family, that "silly millimeter.
So lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love watching the relationship develop between animals, the one between cats and dogs really takes some working at as they need to learn to re-interprete the most basic of signals ... that of tail wagging.
ReplyDeleteTo a dog it means I'm happy, playful, no threat, whereas to a cat it means I'm getting angry, don't mess with me, this is possibly your only warning. Once they quieten down these signals and realise they can swap them for more vocal and more easily transferable between species noises, they create a bond that is magical to watch. Ginger spends a lot of his time grooming Mavis, and occasionally Suky, before cuddling up to them for nap time ... occasionally all in one bed.
It's like a clip from an old cartoon show. Winnie stars as Spike and and Albert plays Tom. Lord knows where Jerry was.
ReplyDeleteWhen we had our two dogs (years ago now) we had three cats. The dogs were great with them, surprisingly the terrier would have protected them with his life. When we first got him he was very aggressive towards the cats and I thought he would have to go back. After two weeks, he got it and I could trust him completely with them (more so than I could trust him with people as he bit a fair few in his time!!). Our other dog we thought just tolerated the cats, until I had to get up in the night and found her snuggled up with them on the sofa. She wouldn't have dreamed of letting us know how much she loved them. Different animal interactions can be so amazing.
ReplyDeleteAdorable. Winnie is every comedy team’s “straight man.”
ReplyDeletecute!
ReplyDeleteI know just how Winnie feels.
ReplyDeleteSweet.
ReplyDeleteA long time ago and far away :) I had a Russian Wolfhound and a little cat. During the day they pretty much went their ways but at night, the little cat slept with the huge dog ... neither was content to be in bed without the other .. it is the dearest thing to see. There really is no reason why it should not be a common sight..
ReplyDeleteIt's fascinating to watch animals being so social with each other.
ReplyDeleteI had a cat that kind of leaned against a dog to sleep. The dog never quite knew what to make of it.
ReplyDeleteIf Winnie didn't like it she could simply roll over and pin Albert to the floor. I love that they are such good friends.
ReplyDeleteAlbert and Winnie are so much fun to watch! A family can be anyone who love each other. Gabs
ReplyDeleteLove this, Dillon the dawg and Billy the Kit had a bit of a Bromance going on. Sadly Dillon died on Friday, a big Dillon sized hole in our lives at the moment xxxx
ReplyDeleteI too have an Albert ( Frankie) and Winnie ( Thandi ). Frankie is a feisty Tonkinese, Thandi is a German Shepherd who was bullied mercilessly by the late great and exceptionally bad tempered Eloise ( a Burmese). When Frankie came to live with us I was blown away by how Thandi took to her, having only ever been at the wrong end of a feline bully. Now she squeaks her squeaky toy for Frankie to bat at and whimpers with excitement when Frankie returns home from her roaming. Acceptance and forgiveness of previous feline slights !
