It's as hot in Trelawnyd as it was in Sitges, only not as humid.
I got home in the wee small hours after a particularly ardious journey thanks primarily to easyJet and a few dysfunctional passengers with no manners, class or/and morals.
The cottage looks tired today
It took me a full hour to realise just why.
The flowers in the vases I had so carefully dotted around before I left had withered away in the heat

welcome home - i enjoyed hearing about your trip ad the breakfast buffet jean/winnipeg
ReplyDeleteIn the end my great neice Evie helped me collect bits of fruit and the odd made up sandwich, she loved it
DeleteStill, if you're like me, coming home is sometimes the best part of a trip.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it is x
DeleteI love the cutting of flowers, finding different vases, vessels to hold their beauty . . .one of my most favorite things to do for myself, others too.
ReplyDeleteNot in favor when the heat tires them out and they are done though.
Hope the pups welcomed you and you can freshen up those vases today with some fresh cuts. Welcome Home!
Mine too Lynne x
Delete.. but your bed will be comfy and welcome after a testing trip home no doubt.
ReplyDeleteWould love some heat right now... its snowing a blizzard in the hills!!
Enjoy freshening the flowers and those warm sunny days :)
Nearly 80 degrees here right at this mo xx
DeleteI wish xx
DeleteI know how those flowers feel.
ReplyDeleteWelcome home. There really is ... No place like home :)
So do i
Delete:)
DeleteWe have big black thunder clouds piling up in the formerly blue sky.
We will probably have our 4th of July fireworks rained out.
Enjoy being back home and in your own bed ⭐️
The last picture is beautiful; very Wabi Sabi.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Maria x
Greetings Maria ..I have learnt something today , I didn't know wabi sabi is the study of beauty with imperfection
DeleteThank you x
It's always nice to get home. I am just catching up on your travel adventures. I'd like that hotel. All the best John.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jane...you must go if you get the chance x
DeleteAnd yet they still look beautiful... except perhaps that rose. I'm withering here today, too.
ReplyDeleteIt was humid in Sitges...I don't do that very well
DeleteGood to know you made it back, and not in pieces.
ReplyDeleteWhilst I love some deliberately dried flowers (I have a fine specimen of a tiny red rose I nicked from a bush overhanging the street I live in - now so dry it resembles its own caricature)I can't stand dead cut flowers. There is something funereal about them. You are probably not into Feng Shui, neither am I, but - as they say - the "vibe" of dead flowers isn't good. Chuck them, rinse your vases, get some fresh ones. New day, new dawn and all that.
With you in my thoughts. What about the pack?
U
Wilting too in the heat
DeleteI would imagine they water they are in smells a bit 'off' as well.
ReplyDeleteI was always taught in my student nurse days that " flower water " could be deadly to a sick patient
DeleteNothing so sad as wilted flowers.
ReplyDeleteAfter a crummy trip home, it is still lovely to be home wilted flowers and all.
cheers, parsnip
I've just picked fresh . The cottage breaths again
DeleteFresh flowers will bring all back to life and another day.
ReplyDeleteIndeed jimbo indeed xx
DeleteI do like your heart table or chest of drawers John x
ReplyDeleteIt's a arts and crafts desk from 1898
DeleteSad flowers.
ReplyDeleteI've replaced them with more robust ones dearheart x
DeleteI think you will be happy to be home.
ReplyDeleteWell now you will be able to relax in your own bed... that is if the dogs allow you to! Lol
ReplyDeleteI did finally get to bed after three am and I was shattered
DeleteEmpty and clean the vases and buy some low maintenance pot plants such as an aloe, aloe vera, or other type of cactus to invigorate the place. (That is just a suggestion and not a command by the way!)x
ReplyDeleteMost of the garden flowers have burnt away in the heat....
DeleteBut I found some cat nip, honeysuckle, roses and valarian and have filled the vases up again
Dear John. So sad to see the flowers. Were your faithful four legged friends pleased to see you?
ReplyDeleteWinnie sulked as usual. William and George were their usual friendly selves... Mary hasn't left my side since I got home x
DeleteWhy putting flowers in vases when you're going away for a few days?!?! Anyway, buy or cut some lovely new ones.
ReplyDeleteI left them for the prof
DeleteChris kept his eye on things then.
ReplyDeleteNo problem he doesn't do flowers
DeleteGlad you are home, John.
ReplyDeleteToo Blimming hot for me !
ReplyDeleteDrooping flowers always make me feel sad.
ReplyDeleteI'm busy watering everything like a mad woman at the moment, even the Pug got a good watering yesterday when I found her in the strawberry bed chomping her way through all the lovely juicy red ones!!
Welcome home! And I'm glad you found some fresh flowers (as you show in your subsequent post)!
ReplyDeleteGlad you made it home ok.
ReplyDeleteWilted flowers are always sad. Welcome home. And I do hope that your spirits are less wilted than they were.
ReplyDeleteFill the vases with new fresh flowers, John. It will lift your spirits.
