Dear readers, as you know just recently a great many things have made me tear up.
This video is just one other....but it is one that does so in a rather lovely way.
Listen and enjoy Goodall's pragmatic gentleness
And through the tears

That was wonderful, Jane Goodall has a beautiful soul. (Thought it would have been nice if her audience had appeared more engaged.)
You seem to be a man who shares her values, and tries to live by them, which gives us all hope when the world often seems beyond harsh.
It is a privilege to read your blog, and know that in a small corner of Wales there is at least one Good Bloke.
(This is so badly expressed, hope you get the idea.)

  6. There's a monkey eating a banana on Jane's desk. He's called Placido - a name which means serene peace.

  11. If only one of those students understood and heard Jane Goodall's wise words and is inspired to take action for the better, then it was a good conference. One person, one kind word, one small act can have a huge impact, can bring about change, can be the start of something momentous.

I've a feeling that a few of those young people who were smart enough to listen will do their part to make the world a better place, for everyone, for all life, for the present and the future. Young people can do great things, if given the chance and responsibility.

  13. I share Ms Goodall's optimism about the younger generation. They are connected and engaged like no other generation before them because of technology. There are so many good kids out there, quietly working at making the world a better place.

Ms Goodall's message is relevant for all of us. We all can do better to try to understand our neighbours, help each other, protect the environment, and respect the rest of the animal kingdom.

What a great message; thanks for posting it John.

  16. In the world we live in today where most people only think of themselves it was lovely to watch your video. If only there were more people like her - Well there could be. If we, all your readers, did one act of kindeness a day it might spread like a good germ.
I like the quote "When head and heart work in harmony"

  20. Such a lovely and compassionate lady. I have heard her speak on several occasions, and am always struck by how gentle she is. Truly one of the "old school".
Like Kitty, I thought the the applause was at best lukewarm, and many of the youngsters looked bored. In this day and age I wonder if the younger generation are able to appreciate what she is trying to tell them? It seems the fashion today is to get the message across with the aid of laser lights, video, thumping music, yelling and ranting - oh and the obligatory "celebrity" (preferably a pop star) to add extra interest to the proceedings. It seems gentle, compassionate words, spoken from the heart, are lost.
