My Sister Ann Williams BEM ( British Empire Medal)
I have known my sisters for 56 years.
56!
It's the longest relationships I've ( or they've ) ever had.
I'm sure that Ann won't mind me stating that she is 70 this year, actually her birthday is next week and she has arranged an open house celebration at a shabby chic hotel in Sitges to mark the event.
Circumstances meant that we were unable to go, but finally after a bit of wrangling and some Herculean easyJet Internet work I've managed to sort a flight and have organised a whistlestop jaunt to Spain .
My entire family will be there the day I go and it is right I am there to raise a glass to a family matriarch who has stood in my corner for over half a century.
Sitges? What's wrong with Llandudno? Anyway, well done on securing your easyjet ticket.
ReplyDeleteI flippin love Llandudno. It is on our list of places we are considering moving to
DeleteHas arranged, so it hasn't happened yet, but circumstances meant you were unable to go. I am confused. I will probably be dead when my sister turns 70, but gee, I would put her 70th ahead of anything. Ok, so your whole family will be in Spain, including your sister.
ReplyDeleteIt's not rocket science , keep up at the back!
DeleteI'm so glad you were able to make arrangements to attend. Some things come once in a lifetime. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteAll the best people are 70 this year, a good vintage.
ReplyDeleteGood for you. Jet-setting at its best.
ReplyDelete..... and so you should be there ....... family all together, nothing better & a must to be at your sisters 70th. ... same age as my sister. XXXX
ReplyDeleteIt is a wonderful thing to know somebody is in your corner!

ReplyDeleteFamilies. There is nothing to equal them providing they all get on well. I am lucky that mine did and the memories are wonderful. Have a lovely time John.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are going; it would have been horrible to have been the only one not there and sitting at home thinking about them all having fun without you. xx
ReplyDeleteThat's great you will be there. I always look for my brother at these big birthdays, and he does the same. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are able to be together with your family. Family is what is important! What is the British Empire Medal?
ReplyDeleteIt's tge Queen's honour award medal for her services to her community
DeleteWonderful that you are able to get there, well done.
ReplyDeleteHow proud you must all be and how wonderful you will be there .
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your sister and to you for having such a lovely sister :)
Glad you're able to go -- have fun!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your sister! And yes, of course you had to go! I'm so glad you can!
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you'll be able to see your family. Life is way too short, and time keeps on moving forward, no matter much we want it to slow down or stop.
ReplyDeleteThe past is over and done; nothing can change that. The future has not happened and is a mystery. Who knows what will happen? All we have is this moment, the ability to reach out and live in the now. This moment we are aware of, we can take action to do the things that make us happy; say the things that need to be said; be with the people we love and tell them we love them. Being aware of the here and now is a rare and most precious gift. It's why it's called the present. Make the most of everyday. Sooner or later, we realize that there are never enough days left...
Have a great trip and time with your loved ones. Congratulations to your sister on her wonderful achievement and for reaching a milestone. It is heartwarming and hopeful to see families stay strong and loving after all these years.
That's so wonderful, that you've managed to find a way to make it to the celebration! You're lucky to have sisters to lean on in life.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Ann!
Jolly good show. Now go, go GO!
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you're now able to go. It wouldn't be the same without you!
ReplyDeleteSometimes you just gotta do it, no matter what! Opportunities come so seldom these days to get everyone together for a happy occasion. Why do we often only get together when there's a funeral? I hope you'll have lots of happy stories to share about your fabulous trip!
ReplyDeleteI’m so glad your going to be with your sister and your family for this celebratory occasion! Enjoy yourself John! Gabs
ReplyDeleteHooray that you fought through and can be there. Be sure someone takes a group picture, please, please, please. It's important to us, too.

ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you are going! Some things are worth all effort to do and this is one of those things. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteOh I'm so glad you're going. It would have been a shame to miss it. You're lucky to have such a wonderful British Empire Medal sister! (Are you allowed to say her name without mentioning that?)

ReplyDeleteI'm sure you will have a lovely time John wishing you only good things your the kindest man in blog land.
ReplyDeleteNormally our family only gets together for funerals so having a birthday get together is a very good idea. Events always get in the way but I am glad you have hacked your way through them. Goodness knows how a jealous bulldog is going to deal with this. I have to comment as anonymous as if I use google id it gets swallowed. Charles
ReplyDeleteHello Charles xx
DeleteGlad you are able to be there, Happy Birthday sis!
ReplyDeleteYou are doing the right thing. You can’t miss the important moments in your family’s life. As you said, siblings are our longest relationships, and if you weren’t there, there would be an incomplete party.
ReplyDeleteHave fun in Spain John!
ReplyDeleteI think this is one of the most significant information for me.
ReplyDeleteAnd i’m glad reading your article.
But should remark on some general things, the web site style is perfect,
