My Sister Ann Williams BEM ( British Empire Medal)

I have known my sisters for 56 years.
56!
It's the longest relationships I've ( or they've ) ever had.
I'm sure that Ann won't mind me stating that she is 70 this year, actually her birthday is next week and she has arranged an open house celebration at a shabby chic hotel in Sitges to mark the event.
Circumstances meant that we were unable to go, but finally after a bit of wrangling and some   Herculean easyJet Internet work I've managed to sort a flight and have organised a whistlestop jaunt to Spain .
My entire family will be there the day I go and it is right I am there to raise a glass to a family matriarch who has stood in my corner for over half a century.

  1. Sitges? What's wrong with Llandudno? Anyway, well done on securing your easyjet ticket.

Has arranged, so it hasn't happened yet, but circumstances meant you were unable to go. I am confused. I will probably be dead when my sister turns 70, but gee, I would put her 70th ahead of anything. Ok, so your whole family will be in Spain, including your sister.

  17. I am glad that you'll be able to see your family. Life is way too short, and time keeps on moving forward, no matter much we want it to slow down or stop.

The past is over and done; nothing can change that. The future has not happened and is a mystery. Who knows what will happen? All we have is this moment, the ability to reach out and live in the now. This moment we are aware of, we can take action to do the things that make us happy; say the things that need to be said; be with the people we love and tell them we love them. Being aware of the here and now is a rare and most precious gift. It's why it's called the present. Make the most of everyday. Sooner or later, we realize that there are never enough days left...

Have a great trip and time with your loved ones. Congratulations to your sister on her wonderful achievement and for reaching a milestone. It is heartwarming and hopeful to see families stay strong and loving after all these years.

  21. Sometimes you just gotta do it, no matter what! Opportunities come so seldom these days to get everyone together for a happy occasion. Why do we often only get together when there's a funeral? I hope you'll have lots of happy stories to share about your fabulous trip!

Normally our family only gets together for funerals so having a birthday get together is a very good idea. Events always get in the way but I am glad you have hacked your way through them. Goodness knows how a jealous bulldog is going to deal with this. I have to comment as anonymous as if I use google id it gets swallowed. Charles

  39. You are doing the right thing. You can’t miss the important moments in your family’s life. As you said, siblings are our longest relationships, and if you weren’t there, there would be an incomplete party.
