Nurse: " Keep the dressing dry and come back on Friday for us to reassess it"
Me: "of course"
Nurse: " Have you got anyone with you today?"
Me : " Yes Mary is waiting for me in the car"
Nurse: " Can she drive you if you have problem with the gears?"
Me: " No she's a Welsh terrier!"
Nurse " Smart Arse!"
I would have said, "Maybe. She could try." But you know Mary better than I do.
ReplyDeleteHope your thumb gets better.
Been neglecting yourself?
ReplyDeleteYes....the prof is in Sweden
DeleteTake care xx
DeleteHa! Get Well Soon!
ReplyDeleteI always say, It's Better to be a Smart Ass than a Dumb Ass!
Be safe!
Very smart indeed.
ReplyDeleteHow did you hurt your thumb? I'm sure there is a story to go with a bandage that size!
ReplyDeleteIf I told you I'd have to kill you
DeleteHmmm, from one smart arse to another, sounds like you answered the question correctly. Take care of that thumb.
ReplyDeleteI've already dirtied the dressing
DeleteHave you been sticking it somewhere you shouldn't?!
ReplyDeleteI wish
DeleteThat was good.
ReplyDeleteThe sudden cessation of a working oppositional digit is most vexing.
Vexed I am
DeleteCould she reach the pedals? Wish your thumb better.
ReplyDeleteOnly with blocks on her feet
DeleteHow did you injure yourself this time? At least it isn't a bleach burn.
ReplyDeleteOne of any injuries
DeleteOuch!! How on earth did you do that?
ReplyDeleteSticking my thumb in......
DeleteIt's so good having a sense of humour.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to get mine back
DeleteWell, how did it happen and it must have been bad if you couldn't tend it.
ReplyDeleteIt just appeared and started to track down my thumb
DeleteHAHAHA! I love it :)
ReplyDeleteTake care of that thumb. Easier said than done to keep it dry when you're looking after so many pets. Maybe duct tape something waterproof over it, like a cut-off thumb from a hospital glove.
Did she know you or was the comment a lucky guess?
ReplyDeleteShe was. A live wire
DeleteOuchity ouch, how did you cut it.
ReplyDeleteInfection under the nail
DeleteTake your antibiotics!
ReplyDelete2nd dose taken x
DeleteOh my goodness! Not good! I know it is a pain keeping it dry. Feel better soon! Now aren't you sorry you didn't go ahead and teach Mary to drive?
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up tootes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a hoot
DeleteI actually think Albert could drive your car. Take care!
ReplyDeleteAlbert could pay the mortgage
DeleteWell if you cannot drive, you will make a good hitch-hiker.
ReplyDelete👍🏼
DeleteOh, Tom. I love you. Haha!
DeleteOuch! I hope you're right handed? When I hurt my index finger I was amazed at how many things I just couldn't manage competently without all ten fingers working. Hope it comes right very soon.
ReplyDeleteGoing to the loo has been a challenge x
DeleteJohn, John, John...the Prof can't leave you alone for 5 minutes, can he? :)
ReplyDeleteSeriously, take care of that thumb.
I've gone a few rounds with cellulitis in my foot, painful stuff!
ReplyDeleteThe antibiotics should sort you out
I hadn't read this post when I commented to you on FB. Which do you prefer, John? 1.Smart ass or 2.Smart arse?
ReplyDeleteI was going to say "you don't shift gears with your LEFT hand!" and then I remembered . . . England. Okay, then. Hope your thumb feels better soon.
ReplyDeleteGet well soon! xo
ReplyDeleteLook at that face, she's all sympathy. I hope all your critters made a nice fuss of you!
ReplyDeleteDoes it have a red circle with a white blister with a hole in it ?
ReplyDelete:(
instead of a plastic bag over it, wrap it in plastic wrap (Saran Wrap here in the US ) it clings and is very water proof ..
You poor thing .. Are you soaking it in hot salt water ?
Bless her heart, I love that pup ...
Careful of that digit !
ReplyDeleteLOL @ your humour.
Take care. It isn't until we injure a finger, or hurt a foot that we realize how much we rely on and use them! I liked your comment about Albert above. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteWell, on your next movie review, you can give it a thumbs up! ;-)
ReplyDeleteGet well...the village needs all of you intact.
That's funny! Not your thumb, the Mary bit.
ReplyDeleteStop biting your nails and they wont get infected.
ReplyDeleteDid the nurse know you?? Bit rude calling you that if she didn't. Some of my patients would be straight on the phone to manager if I called them that. They are a bit anal in London thou . Take care.xx
ReplyDeleteOw. Hope that clears up and heals quickly. I see you're not telling how it happened. And if YOU'RE not telling, it must be shocking. And even while suffering with a septic thumb, you're still so clever.
ReplyDeleteI love the thought of a real life Mary patiently waiting in the car while you were bandaged up and not coming into the hospital with you !
ReplyDeleteSeptic fingers are painful. Take care John.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Maria xx
Nasty!! ..thumb that is..the nurse was cheeky tho. Heal quickly xx
ReplyDeleteHow did you get a septic thumb? It sounds really painful. Is the prof still away? You need looking after!!! I'm sure Mary would have driven you home if she had the know how! x
ReplyDeleteLove that conversation, so good to have Mary for company.

ReplyDeleteYikes! Take care of that thumb!
ReplyDeleteSmiles . . . nurse comment . . .
ReplyDeleteHeal up pronto . . .
Friday is it? I expect she'll be there with a big needle ready to stick in your smart arse. It's called revenge. I think I'd go to another hospital if I was you.
ReplyDeleteMary looks like she's going to be nursing you. Take care and look after yourself.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite books was Even Cowgirls Get The Blues about Sissy Hankshaw and her giant thumb.
ReplyDeleteYes, take care of the thumb. Let Mary drive. LOL
ReplyDeleteThere have been a couple interesting studies published recently, maybe in JAMA, about taking all the antibiotics or just until the symptoms of infection subside. The thinking of 'take all the antibiotics' is coming into question.
ReplyDeleteKeep taking the tablets and snuggle up to Mary.
ReplyDeleteHope it doesn't throb too much x
ReplyDeleteOK.
ReplyDeleteNice one!..but seriously,look after yourself
ReplyDeletelol
