The stand off happens at least four or five times a day!
It's a game between Tom cat and Welsh Terrier bitch.
They enjoy the drama of it.
Because they actually like each other.
Cat wants to go up the stairs
Welsh terrier wants him not to.
The Mexican stand off is complicated and noisy and I can't work out all of the rules
Hisses, barks , loud licks on the face, silent pads to the chops.
It's the animal equivalent of a baby drag queen spat
Suffice to say, even though a clump of jet black cat hair was left on the first step
Albert always wins.
Is Albert really a Tom cat or is he neutered?
ReplyDeleteTraveller
He is a neutered Tom
DeleteBlack cats rule.
ReplyDeleteTch, kids!
ReplyDeleteMary is gorgeous, is she fully grown yet?
ReplyDeleteYes she's three
DeleteMy mate's dog was hit by a car three days ago. Three legs smashed, and one may have to be amputated. That's the best outcome. Heartbreaking. Such a lovely, lively dog. Say a prayer for Myrtle, a brown Collie bitch.
ReplyDeleteHow awful .....how awful
DeleteOh no! how horrific! They will be in my thoughts
DeleteOMG! Dreadful, DREADFUL event. How I long to comfort her, the poor little dear.
DeleteSorry to read this so very awful. I hope she will be better soon.
DeleteGosh, that's awful. That has to be so upsetting.
DeleteThat is just terrible. Hoping for the best possible outcome.
DeleteTerrible, awful and very sad!
DeleteHoping for the best, no pain please.
I bet you can always tell the difference between a play fight and the real thing too. Our two cats will get into a play fight over who gets the top of the 6 foot cat tree. They will look at each other, run up to the top of it at the same time and then chase each other around the house with fur flying. When they are worn out they lay down together, bath one another and then sleep. They are siblings and truly love one another.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard sometimes especially as Mary takes it too far and bites clumps out of Albert
DeleteOuch! That is a bit much.
DeleteWell of course he does.
ReplyDeleteCats always win. That is the rule. It's science.
ReplyDeleteHow much does it cost to join the official Albert fan club?
ReplyDelete50 guineas
DeleteI hope you read comments to Mary.Cats.Always.Win.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen Mary standing for such a long time. She has really grown such a big girl now.
ReplyDeleteAs always lurve Albert !
cheers, parsnip
Here the drama is always my younger cat wants to play but the older cat refuses.... so the younger one does it anyway and the older one goes hysterical. I watched a program that said older unrelated cats will often never accept each other since cats are actually a solitary non pack animal. Sadly it seems to be true with the two I have now.
ReplyDeleteHi, John!
ReplyDeleteIt was very nice of you to visit me today at SDMM, my new friend. I appreciate the kind gesture!
Looks like sparks were flying at your place (along with black kitty fur), a dance your terrier and Albert the cat never grow weary of performing. I wish I were there to witness the standoff and listen to them taunting and goading each other.
Thank you again for swinging over for a visit, John. Please come back and see me again soon!
Reminds me of my two older female cats who seem to hate each others guts....but then I catch them tag teaming the cat kibble this afternoon. One is up on the counter butting the lid of the bin up, scooping kibbles onto the floor for her enemy. They keep us endlessly entertained don't they?
ReplyDeleteCats usually win.
ReplyDeleteDo you have a date for moving or are you just going to wait till the house is sold?
Interesting looking picture in the background. You can see where my priorities lie.
ReplyDeleteMucky pics
DeleteIt's like your very own nature show, seeing the species interact and engage over resources and access!
ReplyDeleteOur farm cats always surprised people. Everytime the dogs growled, the cats went on alert. One time, some hoodlums thought it be fun to pick on and throw things at our dogs. Our cats got in the action and tore those hoodlums up! Sent them packing and screaming! Our cats are very protective of the farm clan!
Each trying to show the other who's boss - but they both already know there can only be one, and which one it is.
ReplyDeleteIs that your knitting in the bag next to your 'mucky picture'
ReplyDeleteThe prof.'s
DeleteI've just had to rescue a baby rabbit from the jaws of Ginger and Mavis working together to capture the poor little bunny. Better they fight between themselves than kill the local wildlife ... although I may not be saying that when the little blighters start chomping on my cabbages ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised that Albert wins. Our two neutered male cats have an odd relationship of holding down and biting the neck, followed by licking the head. (Which is better than the hateful hissing of several months that lead up to this). I always enjoy your Albert stories. -Jenn
ReplyDeletecanceling the flower show or just the judges? so without John, no one wants to carry the baton?
ReplyDeleteThe flower show has been cancelled No one to fill my rather large sensible shoes
Deletethe village will be a sadder place without you.
DeleteAs it should be. Albert always wins!
ReplyDeleteCats always win those things. You'd think dogs would learn by now.
