"Do Not Send us Astray"- The Walking Dead ep13

Slumber party gone wrong

The worst part of episode was when my favourite redshirt Tobin ( Jason Douglas)killed the sassy foul mouthed doctor from Kingdom, she..( Peggy Sheffield) would have made an interesting  new character.. It was a great moment of complete mayhem when the injured Hilltoppers succumbed  to their infected injuries and ran amok amongst the sleeping survivors..it was just like old days!
Ok ok it was a rehash of the prison flu episode, but I didn't much care.
It was back to the Walking Dead of old.
The Hilltop fended off the saviours but at a price. Henry and Morgan played silly beggars. Pretty
New Yorker saviour Alden switched sides to the good guys ( a new eventual Maggie love interest
perhaps?) and Tara realised that Dwight May have saved her life.
This episode was set at a cracking pace.......8/10
Loved it
Tobin, not at his best

  1. Haven't been watching, but did learn Carl is dead. What about Maggie's baby? Is she still preggers?

  3. I used to love this show, but they broke my heart when they killed off Glenn. I knew he died in the comics--That's where I first learned about these characters. But the tv show managed to change things up a bit, like introducing new characters created for the tv series, Darryl and Meryl. I was hoping Glenn would live to see his baby. Alas, they killed him off much too soon.

I hung in there for Maggie. But when they killed off Carl, that was it for me. I just couldn't take it anymore. I took a break from the Walking Dead. Killing off Carl felt like something the show did just to show off how they can kill off major characters. It served no purpose other than to alienate people like me, who believe in hope. Now, it seems like the show is all for masochists. It's all torture porn now, and I am not one who enjoys making myself or others suffer.

I'm just hoping for a Darryl, Carol, The King, and Michonne and Maggie to have a spinoff series...

I may return to the Walking Dead depending on how the season finale turns out. Thank you for your thoughts. They help me gain perspective.

    1. I agree with that killing off main characters. The show lost me when they killed Glen and Abraham. It's no wonder I keep reading about how the show is struggling to keep viewers. Killing the tiger everyone seemed to love didn't help, and now Carl. They might need to do what the Bob Newhart show did ... made everything bad that happened a dream and brought things back to the way they were before. LOL.

  4. That was a GREAT episode. So exciting and the last parts after Tobin and all "reanimated", were full on old school horror movie. Loved it!

Side note, people are asking bout Maggie being pregnant, even though this is 2 seasons (series) for us, according to the show people, for them it's apparently only been about 3 or 4 weeks since Glen was killed! What the heck?

  5. Well John.... as you know I have not watched since poor Sheba was killed. But just today friends of mine and I were at luncheon, and I was waiting to hear about the Dead talk. To my surprise, no one is watching anymore. Two were, I thought, die hards. But the conclusion was it's just the same old thing over and over again. They will just keep fighting zombies and other groups they will encounter till the whole cast is knocked off and new. So....looks like I will have to read your recaps dear.

  6. After a couple episodes that didn't do much for me, this had a lot of things I really l;iked. The horror zombie thing being first among them. TWD uses zombies as road cones too much - just something for the characters to run around. Here, they got scary again. Finally.

    I'm still watching.

  7. I think this was the most Daryl has spoken in several episodes...I had almost forgotten what his voice sounded like.

    1. I did exactly the same Bea. On my sidebar I could see the lastest Going Gently post title and read ‘Do not stand in the Ashtray!’ The lad has finally flipped I thought? All became apparent or not (?) on reading the post.

  9. I am counting the moments when Negan meets his end. And at this point, I don't care whether it's Rick or Jadus - Let's just get rid of this guy!
