Canine Amelie

Mary as Audrey Tautou

Ok, it's another doggy photo but it is here to illustrate a visit by a rather enigmatic French photographer.
Now, here I have to concede that she wasn't working for a French movie mogul , intent on hiring Helen Mirren as Trellis. , Russ Crowe as me and Jennifer Lawrence as Trendy Carol! No !
She was a friend of the daughter of Village Hall sorter and all round good egg .....Sandra , ( the village sweetheart that helps all and who asks for nothing!)
Now the French photographer just wanted to photograph a local subject out of her comfort zone and of course Sandra thought of me ! ( well the dogs and not me personally)
So yesterday the trendy-as-hell Audrey Hepburn look-a-like arrived  but with unrealistic expectations!
"Can you get em to sit still together ?" She asked in a lovely thick accent
" have you got any Valium to slip them ? " I realistically asked her
She did the best she could... and to be honest it was impressive..especially as Winnie ruined her designer jeans with 16 sets of muddy paw prints.
The French lady did a good job even though (I don't think the French understand the Hollywood maxim  never work with children and animals!"
It amused me when , In her thick French accent the photographer growled
" Can ve get them to be still ?"
"Hit em with a stick" was my only advice
Hey ho

  6. I understand about the Audrey Tautou but ... I see your George (my fav. doggie of yours ) as a cross between Sean Connery and Robert Carlyle.
I really see Miss Winnie is Hattie Jacques !!! and I Loved Hattie Jacques !!!!!!!

  7. I always found it was best to take photos of them ASLEEP!

  8. Animals can drive you nuts! My troupe jump around looking cute and doing adorable things but once I pick up a camera, they either sit like a sack of potatoes or turn their butts to me and walk away.

  9. I do hope that Albert wasn't overlooked.

  10. What a shame it wasn't a chic young French boy though.

  16. I very much doubt that the mysterious French movie mogul would pick Russell Crowe to play you - more likely it would be David Threlfall - that actor from "Shameless".

  17. My friend puts a peaked cap onto his Collie and she immediately transforms into Rita Tushingham.

  18. Sometimes the best pictures are of dogs, behaving like dogs.

  22. This reminds me of the time when famous photographer Annie Leibovitz photographed the queen and asked her if she could take off her crown. That didn't go well, either.

  23. Ho ho ho! I remember reading about that Leibovitz-Elizabeth contretemps as well. Thanks for reminding me, Iris, and my sympathies to you, John, for trying to get your dogs to pose for the photographer.

    1. Ha! The encounter was actually filmed and I saw it on TV. Queen Elizabeth's point was that it had taken long enough to put the crown on, 'one' could certainly not be expected to simply take it back off. (Annie Leibovitz looked like she was shaking in her britches.)

  24. I wonder what Mary is thinking. When I've had a photographer take a picture I've seen them quickly use a squeeky.Once my top dog raced off out of the tent x

  25. This story comes right off the pages of a children’s book! I bellowed laughter then the gamer yelled downstairs what’s so funny? He knew I was drinking coffee & watching The Young And The Restless on the tele. I didn’t yell the explanation. I kept it to myself. From experience , children and animals won’t sit still on que. please start making movie and narrating the story. I love 💕 Winnie The Pooh 🎥 movies. I would love yours too! Gabs
