Lovely Wilis

I didn't sleep that well last night.
With the Prof away Winnie decided that she would leave her normal sleeping position ( poured into an Edwardian arm chair in the living room) to join me in bed.
Now, I should have known better, but once you've given a row of implausibly floppy teats a cursory and rather sleepy rub, a bulldog like Winnie will tap you constantly with a paw the size of a dinner plate until you continue.
Perhaps she knew the Prof was away. Perhaps she was just in a needy mood,, all I know is that the paw tapping only stopped after I had covered her with the bedspread and slipped a hand under her head.

I'll leave you with the arrival of the Willis from Giselle
We shall be watching this very scene later on at Covent Garden.
I'd better scrub up well

  6. I loved Giselle .. my first Giselle was the American Ballet in NYC . I was so lucky, my husband was a ballet lover as well as having a friend in the NYC Ballet so we went as often as possible, every year.
The "Willies" were so fabulous, weren't they ? :)

  12. All dogs have their needy moments. We certainly get the same thing with Olga -- she gives us the paw or just thumps her tail on the mattress until we pay her attention.

  15. Cats are the same with the paw, but Winnie's paw is of course a lot bigger! How sweet that you tucked her in; I like that mental image.

Have a wonderful time at the ballet, John.

  16. And unlike Jenny, I was about to say, I have a bulky male cat who feels entitled to a lot of my bed. It's all I can do to put him on the ground. I would never pamper him; he'd only increase his allotment.

  18. Give that girl "an inch and she'll take an Ell" I don't have a clue what an ell is - perhaps an old word for a mile? Winnie knows how to work you John! Made me think of the Tee shirt be got in Cambridge for the (then) 18m grandson that said "Grandparents, so simple, anyone can operate them" ....
