I'm named after Susan Hayward, my mother wanted to call me Tracy after the character in High Society. She sent my father off to register my birth but by the time he reached the registry office he'd forgotten what name I was to be called. Searching for inspiration he walk to the nearby cinema as he knew the name has something to do with a film. There was a film showing starring Susan Hayward, so Susan I became, my mother was not best pleased!
my MIL was born in Malaysia to new immigrants from China. Her father went to register her birth and when asked the name for the baby he misunderstood and said "a girl" so my MIL has lived her whole life with her official name "a girl" and her actual name!
Six degrees of separation...Susan Hayward, who in real life became Mrs. Floyd Eaton Chalkley, is buried a few miles away from me in Carrollton, Georgia.
awww Hope this helps !
