Apart from the tiling and the laying of the new floor, both getting sorted next week, the kitchen should be finished this afternoon!
I shall post nauseating smug photos of everything later today so be prepared for a showing off fest !
The fitters presented me with this yesterday
It's some sort of handset for automatically turning on the lights under the countertops!
I got all excited about it and giggled like a schoolgirl
I'm easily pleased.
All the Prof said about everything was a " It's big!" comment whilst raising one Roger Moore eyebrow
I am looking forward to the smugfest.
ReplyDeleteAll this and electric lights with a fancy buton! Can't wait to see the big reveal.
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting for the great unveiling!
ReplyDeleteUnder bench lighting huh. You know you are going to have clean any spills off the cupboards as they will show up like the proverbial cur's gonads.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing this beautiful kitchen.
ReplyDeleteOh, the anticipation.....
ReplyDeleteWow, that was fast! I thought this renovation would be going on for weeks and weeks.
ReplyDeleteOur little iMac seemed big when it first arrived. It seemed to dominate the room. I suppose it does in a way, but you soon get used to it. It just dominates lives.
ReplyDeleteIt’s going to look amazing, are those solid wood worktops? If they are make sure you oil them ( it recommends doing it 3-4 times ) immediately and then they say twice a year, I did mine about 10 times and then twice a year, at first I was paranoid something was going to mark them food, hot pans, water etc but if they’re oiled properly they’re tough as old boots just always wipe around the sink and don’t let water sit under worktop protectors. If they do mark give it a just a quick sand down and then smother in the oil. Buy the oil from Ikea it used to be £5 for a decent size tin the other D.I.Y places charge the earth for a small tin. Loads of pictures please when it’s all finished x
ReplyDeleteDebbie, I couldn't afford solid wood or the hassle even though it looks lovely. Ours are a composite
DeleteWhew! Composite makes life SO much easier. Looks beautiful and takes all the stress out of using them. Good choice!
DeleteVery sensible John, for the first few months I was a wreck worrying about damaging them and I cannot see any difference at all between yours and mine they look fab x
DeleteAs I write this I am looking at my own IKEA kitchen that we installed in two phases last year. We did the install ourselves and doing half at a time meant that we had half a kitchen to use. We went with light birch doors and bought the butcher block countertops but when we installed them it was too much wood so we swapped them for a manmade substance that looks like granite.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your finished kitchen. When ours was done I'd just sit at the dining table and look at it. In fact that's what I'm doing now! I hope you enjoy it!!
Under countertop lighting!! That will be nice in the evenings for just a bit of warm glow, but not too bright. Are you just imagining the meals and gatherings that could go on in there? -Jenn
ReplyDeleteLooks great so far! Can't wait for the big reveal!
ReplyDeleteI would be excited if I had a gadget to control my countertop lights (except I don't have any countertop lights). I too am easily pleased, my new Vileda spray mop is the best thing since sliced bread.
ReplyDeleteI'm easily pleased too. A friend gave me a used wine bottle with battery powered fairy lights stuffed inside and it makes the kitchen magical at night!
DeleteI love gadgets.....I would be giggling like a schoolgirl too. Can't wait for the photos.
ReplyDeleteO, I love a good smugfest
ReplyDeleteThat was fast, can't wait for the big reveal. You will love the lighting.
ReplyDeleteOh you're a posh knob now. Are you and Prof goin christen the new kitchen with a Great British Bake Off. I can imagine Winnie be a contender for Joanne Lumley part in that comedy Bake Off sketch with David Williams.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for the pictures!
ReplyDeleteI'd lose that thing in a heartbeat.
ReplyDeleteThe best drawer pulls are knobs. You never will have your fingers stuck while you are falling down, pulling the entire front from the cabinet. Just saying...
ReplyDeleteOH I want one of those!
ReplyDeleteJust enjoy your moment of glory and show off your kitchen as much as you like. Can't wait to see it. Might even post some photos of my own kitchen to compare what is where. I still have to search for my fridge and dishwasher.
ReplyDeleteAs I said on an earlier post, I have major kitchen envy and look forward to the new pictures!
ReplyDeleteREally looking forward to the new kitchen pictures.
ReplyDeleteI am waiting for the big reveal.
ReplyDeleteI remember my mum getting a new kitchen in 1965. She still had the same kitchen when she died 40 years later, a good quality kitchen never dates. Yours looks good.
ReplyDelete*drumming fingers impatiently,loves a reveal*
ReplyDeleteFill your boots, John! Looking forward to the tour!!
ReplyDeleteI’m so happy for you John!
